What a cute place! Great daily specials - especially during Hawkeye games! Upstairs area for private parties and a nice outdoor space with set-u for a band. We were welcomed immediately walking in the door. We tried a couple of local beers and had the pretzel pub burger & fries. Oh my, layers of tasty goodness! The burger was cooked great layered with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, pepper jack cheese and honey mustard! Yum! The fries were crispy and seasoned well. Having the honey mustard drip on the fries was a great treat! Definitely will make a point to come back! Excellent selection of beers. Plentiful outside seating with good music. Music was not too loud to still have a conversation. Large garage doors allowed music to be heard inside as well. Food menu is standard for a brewery. Fish and chips with very good seasoned fries. read more

Absolutely amazing place and staff!!!! We had an ordeal with a reservation in Dubuque and left very unhappy. In a panic the MOH (for the party) called Darkbird and without hesitation the super sweet girl said "no problem I will get a table ready" she had us a table ready for 18 people!!!! Food was amazing! Drinks were delicious! And the outside area with the fire was a perfect way to end the night before heading back to our air bnb! If I could give you all a 10 I would. The food is good, the beer selection is quite broad, and the bartenders are friendly. I was a touch disappointed in the decor as I'd read it was "Edgar Allen Poe themed" and I'd expected a highly creative and evident "theme" throughout the space.
