10 years ago I had darling electric install four censored security lights. A few days ago I pressure washed my house and unknowingly got three of the lights too wet so they wouldn't work. I called darling electric to come back out and the son of the owner showed up and hung the three lights I had purchased. He charged me $310 to hang these lights that night. The back light did not come on. I called Evan, the son and he came back out the next day and said that it wasn't wired correctly by an electrician who had recently changed my pool timer several days before darling electric came on my job site. I asked him did you check your work before you left my home, he said no I did not check it, but I didn't think it would be wired wrong so I'm going to charge you another $85 then he wanted to get into an arguing match yelling that I shouldn't have pressure washed my house. Totally unprofessional, out of line. My husband told me when he was here 10 years ago. The young man was a very nice gentleman. He definitely has turned out to be quite the opposite. I scheduled an appt for a FREE estimate, which is the first thing I ask about with any company. The electrician came out, assessed the work, and explained what needed to be done. I specifically asked for a written estimate with a detailed breakdown of the charges. My email was provided and was told it would be sent. Instead of receiving a proper written quote on company letterhead, I was simply sent an email with the total amount and a phone number - no breakdown or formal documentation as requested. When I followed up to request the written estimate, I was told that providing one would now require a charge for the inspection, despite being told upfront that it would be free. This was very disappointing and felt misleading, as I was expecting transparent communication and no charges for a basic written estimate. read more

Get an estimate and get a contract! My experience is that he never finished my project and I had to chase him down to get follow up appointments. My project should've taken 2-3 visits, that was 7 weeks ago and still not done. I asked him to drop me as a client, he refused, so I fired him. His behavior was abhorrent.. ladies BEWARE! I did not ask for an estimate, thinking these guys could be trustworthy. He replaced one double pole breaker and one ground bar. Sourced the parts after the fact and they were 15$. One hour of labor, him and his son charged 675$. Refused to give us an itemized receipt when we asked for services rendered, and then threatened to call the police on us when we contested the bill. Also threatened to sue us for "refusal of payment" even though he was holding our signed check in his hand. These guys are criminals, do not recommend at all. read more

I just got ripped off to the tune of $230 for the son of the owner to install a switch that not only did not function correctly but kept the solar part of my water heater from turning on. Additionally, imagine an electrician that has to leave my home to get a switch--how can he not have one in his truck? I thought these people were honest--boy, was I wrong. read more

I cold called at least 4 other contractors in the area, including a 24 hour one, and none of them answered except Darling!! They even accommodated me early the next morning! While the work performed was satisfactory, the technician friendly and knowledgeable, and they were timely, their billing rates were without question unreasonable. They did provide a bid up front before the job was accepted, however any additional work discovered was billed out at the same rates as if they had to go to a new job. I will not use them ever again nor would I recomend them. read more

Showed up at my door 25 minutes after being called. Richard was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. He did something I had never seen before. While most repair service personnel don't want you looking over their shoulder while they work, Richard encouraged me to watch what he was doing, explained EVERYTHING in detail and tutored me in basic electric wiring. Never in my 65 years have I ever encountered a service repair person so ready to teach and explain things. At the completion of the job it was almost like two old friends talking to each other. This is a prime example of how customer service SHOULD be ! To top it all off his prices were well within reason. I have no reservation whatsoever in recommending Darling Electric ! read more

The electricians arrived timely, rates reasonable, friendly and knowledgeable. They installed a transfer box for a portable generator and a flood light near the pool. Their work ethnics are excellent , they clean after the work was complete,and the transfer box and light look like they were installed when the house was build. read more
