To be transparent, our experience was a mix of highs and a few frustrations. What could've been better * He typically arrived at 9:30/10am * He didn't always stay until 5pm * The project did not finish within the original estimated timeline What we loved * The workmanship was exceptional * His experience and expertise clearly showed * He stood by his work and came back after completion to address any issues * Most importantly -- we're extremely happy with the final result Jake is not your typical contractor. He doesn't rush, which can be tough if you're on a strict deadline -- but it's a huge advantage if you care about the details and want things done the right way. He's honest, direct, and gives you his real opinion, which we appreciated. The main reason we hired him was because of his creative, artistic perspective, and that ended up being the biggest difference-maker. These fireplaces weren't simple projects -- the micro-cement finish required someone with skill beyond a cookie-cutter approach, and Jake delivered. Everything came out clean, modern, and exactly the look we were going for (I attached a picture of the fireplace in our master bedroom). He also went above and beyond by helping with things outside of basic fireplace work, including mounting our 85" TV, doing electrical work to hide cords, and hanging the mantel, which we really appreciated. If you need a job done fast, I'd recommend going with someone else. You can trust Jake. He's busy because he's GOOD. And does a quality job. We had lots of problems with a wet slab (soaked up water from nearby garden). Had to bring in a couple Volkswagen size dehumidifiers for 3 days 24/7. Fortunately Jake had a lot of experience dealing with this problem and we got through it. Finished job was GREAT. Corona Hardwood is Jake's recommendation for material. We like shopping at Floor and Decor but it's kinda like KMart for flooring. read more

It didn't help that he showed up around 11:00 AM every day which after 7 days that's a loss of 21 hours. He was coming from riverside so we cut him slack on the drive but although the floors look ok he left the baseboards for us to do even though it was 100% included. I had a few issues with my vinyl floor including a hill/buckling downstairs near the kitchen sink and a big dip upstairs. There was a surprise upstairs that the big dip was due to a poorly done previous repair of a hole, and Jake got all the right materials to fix it. We had a great floor installation experience with Jake. He leveled our subfloor and installed our flooring + baseboards. We live in a two bedroom condo and couldn't leave for the work to be done, he worked with and around us so that we were able to stay in our home the whole time. He is very professional and transparent which made us very comfortable hiring him. His pricing is fair and he works hard to make sure you're happy with the work. Jake and Julio installed almost 2000 sq ft of flooring in under a week. They were always courteous and friendly and did their best to be cleaned up and finished before we came home after work. The floors turned out fantastic and he really went out of the way to make sure that everything turned out perfect. In addition his price was extremely competitive and he did many things that weren't included in higher quotes such as painting the baseboard and moving furniture. I honestly don't know where to start. I remodeled my home about a year ago and the vinyl flooring that was installed by a different company was terribly done. Not just flooring with Jake, he can do it all. We had him remodel our master bathroom and his work was fantastic. He changed the flooring in the bathroom, changed out the toilet/plumbing, redid the shower with straight clean lines all the way to the ceiling, completely changed out the tub and redid the tile work around it, and rewired the new sconces.
