On Monday August 1st my car broke down on our main state freeway (I-90). I was able to coast over…read moreto the right hand shoulder. I immediately called AAA coverage for assistance at 9:23 am. I was on hold for 14 minutes. When I finally reached a representative, I explained the situation and gave my location - she told me the freeway exit I had just passed didn't exist. I was just east of the Liberty Lake/Otis Orchards exit. She didn't seem to know where Spokane was or Liberty Lake or Otis Orchards. After 20 minutes of being put on hold off and on and being told repeatedly there was no such exit, she finally seemed to locate it. She then informed me that I was beyond the towing limit and wasn't sure they could come. I explained I had the Plus Plan and paid extra to have 100 miles of towing. She replied that they can add/change restrictions any time they choose. She stated I was two miles beyond the 15 mile limit. None of this made sense but she said she would have to check with her supervisor. After more time on hold she said her supervisor wouldn't give permission, she would have to speak with the dispatcher. After being on the phone for nearly an hour she informed me a tow truck could come but it would be three hours. After several other odd exchanges I reminded her that it was 100 degrees out. She quickly hung up and I waited nearly three hours in sweltering heat with cars flying by at 70+ mph. I received a text letting me know the tow truck would arrive at 12:45. At 12:45 I received a call from someone else letting me know it would be 90 more minutes. I received another text stating the tow would arrive at 1:30 pm. Finally, at 1:30 pm the tow truck finally arrived. I explained the situation to the tow truck driver and he said freeway breakdowns are always priority and I should never have been left for four hours, especially in the heat.
