The lender requested this appraisal company. I let the appraiser know up front that I would let him do his job and stay out of his way. However I wanted to bring up some needed information to assist him so he does not just take information from county appraisers website. After showing this appraiser evidence of changes in square footage etc. he lead me to believe he took this documented information down. The appraisal was sent to the lender within 48hrs and sure enough, mistake after mistake was found. Per the lender, this appraisal company refused to correct their mistakes (one being a $40K swing per mismeasurement). Appraiser refuses to contact me. While applying for a RenoFi loan we were assigned Dart as our appraiser. My realtor, who was a licensed appraiser, appraised our home and provided comps - all information I uploaded into the system for the appraiser. These loans are supposed to use the future value of your home after your renovation project is complete and we had to supply drawings, plans, and a contractor statement to aid in painting that picture. Our home is a 7,000 square foot estate (7b/7b) with 30 wooded acres nestled on three private lakes, with a barn, greenhouses, trails, etc. We had purchased it for $500k less than a year earlier (when it appraised for $515k) and already put $200k into renovations. Apparently this company does remote appraisals. They never stepped foot on my property and relied on a handful of photos from my phone to complete the appraisal. I was never told that an appraiser wouldn't be seeing the property in person. And it took about 6-7 weeks from the date I paid for the overpriced ($700) appraisal to when I got the verbal results. I still don't have a physical copy of it. Y'all...the appraisal came back with a $350k value. My realtor had valued it at $750k. Tell me how this happens. My view alone is worth more than $350k. I asked if I could hire an independent appraiser and was told, "no." RenoFi had such good reviews that I thought we were in good hands. I wish I had read Dart's reviews first. Dart appraisal sent Mr Ki Chang Yi, from KC Appraisers, Inc, to appraise our home in DC. In his report Mr Yi made several omissions and listed some severely inaccurate information about our house. In the end he appraised our home at least $300k below its fair market value according to our realtor and dozens of comp properties sold in our area within the past few months. His appraised value is even tens of thousands below DC government's appraised value of our home. As a result bank reduced the amount of their loan for more than $100k less than expected. When I called the Dart Appraisal office to explain what their incompetent appraiser did, the lady answering the phone kept interrupting me by repeating to say that I had to talk to my bank and Mr Yi. She never allowed me to finish and say that I had proof that I had already done both of those. Eventually she hung up. With their severe arrogance and incompetency Mr Yi And his referral company, Dart Appraisal, robbed us from over $100,000 that we needed to do a purchase that we spent thousands and months to prepare for. We are looking to see what we can do to stop Mr Yi and Dart Appraisal from harming others like us. If it was possible to give less than one star, I certainly would. This company has tied up our appraisal (the last remaining step before our mortgage process is finished) for over three weeks. They told us the report would be done 3-5 days after the inspection was completed (which alone took them over a week to schedule). It has now been nearly three weeks and we JUST received notice that they've sent the report back to the appraiser for corrections. Who knows how long that will take. Myself, the mortgage agent, and our mortgage processor have called Dart several times to find out what is going on. We have all received different answers, sometimes within minutes of each other. Stay far away from this company if your mortgage is time sensitive in the least. read more

This Dart Appraisal company is a joke! I waited 8 weeks on my appraisal . I would call this Megan Schaefer and she would never answer my calls . I spoke with this Dennis guy oh how smooth he thinks he is. I paid 850.00 for something i waited 8 weeks on here local i could of got the same thing for half that price. check out the owners face book page on all these trips he is taking sure my money was used. So I talked to the guy local that did the appraisal, He stated that dart was only paying him less that half of what they charged me. i also turned them over to the BBB and they lied to the BBB. This is what they wrote back to the BBB which is lies. The appraiser stated that there was not a lockbox on the property and was not able to do the interior inspection on his first trip out.  On 11/30, Dennis O'Brien from Dart Appraisal let the borrower (Sheila Hardin) know that the appraisal inspection for the interior was scheduled for 12/1. Dennis also sent a note to the appraiser reading the following to make sure this was taken care of: "Please do everything you can to ensure the inspection for tomorrow goes as planned as the client and borrower are beyond anxious to get this report submitted in good time once that is completed."  The appraiser then contacted the owner of the home twice on 11/30 to ensure that the property would be unlocked as there was not a lockbox located there - he was unable to reach the owner.  The appraiser still did not hear anything back on 12/1 and made his schedule available for the full day to go inspect the property.  Megan Schaefer at Dart Appraisal then advised the appraiser to reach out to the lender to try to work out the entry issues.  This was taken care of then and the completed appraisal was submitted on 12/2 by the appraiser.  This issue was resolved as quickly as possible and made a priority! LIES IES LIES I have also wrote 21st Mortgage a letter how unpleased I was with Dart Appraisal with the sorry service you get out of Dart Appraisal. Now I understand why this company has so many 1 star reviews . . I was doing a refinance and needed an appraisal done for the bank . .I was contacted by Michele and set a time to meet and was told that it would take 1 - 1 1/2 hrs to complete! My dad agreed to meet . .WOW, 21 minutes for a full house appraisal! That is probably why the appraisal came back like $35k less than all the comps in the area. The comps she pulled were that of ones in Phoenix and not in Scottsdale . . She tried to justify it because I was a couple blocks from Phoenix . . Comparing 85254 to 85032?? Ha! Maybe I can call Scottsdale and see if they will let me pay Phoenix taxes since after all I live so close to Phoenix . . Please do your homework and take my word . .STAY AWAY read more

If there were 0 stars, i would chose it. Dart sent an Appraiser to our prospective home and after 2.5 WEEKS and some ridiculous excuses (like, appraisers internet was down) we had still not received an appraisal. Our lender, after many, many phone calls to Dart, chose to have a new company do an appraisal, which they graciously paid for. Then Dart refunds ONLY HALF of our appraisal fee (which we paid in advance) and refused to pay us the balance "because the appraisal was executed." Well, during the time we waited, we could have lost the house in a very competitive market, their appraiser was lame and WE had to pay $273. Do not use these people. I am filing a claim with BBB. read more

It has been over a week since an appraisal was ordered by my bank through this company and they haven't even managed to hire anyone yet. They have had my $600 straight from my pocket for an entire week and we still have no idea when this appraisal will ever get done. Ask your lendor if they are using Dart Appraisal for an appraisal of your property and if so, insist on using another company. I applied for a HELOC from a lendor and paid for an appraisal. The provided appraisal by Dart Appraisal (Seattle, WA area) was gross negligence on the part of the appraiser, Don Parish. The appraisal came in easily 150K less than the property value. I own one unit in a four unit townhome complex. The end unit just sold this month for 505K, 425 s/ft. My townhouse is an end unit as well, it is larger, and it is in the same condition, if not better. He valued my home as 350K, 258 s/ft. That is 155K less than the other unit. He provided three comps in the appraisal. The one comp that is the most similar to my property but with a more dated interior sold for over $150k more than he valued mine. The other two are not even comps given that they are smaller, 2 bed 1 bath units, and with no garage. My property is 3 bed 2.5 bath and with a garage. Core Logic is $505.4K - $581K for my property and it's generally been conservative for the past three years. I also purchased the property four years ago for 35K more than he appraised it for today! Property values have significantly increased in my area in the last four years. My real estate agent found five properties more similar to my property by beds, baths, and size in the same area that are more recent than the comps he provided and they sold between 520-650K. I'm sorry but Don Parish should lose his job. Now I have to spend more of my time and money to dispute the appraisal and possibly have to go to a new lendor, start the entire process over, and impact my credit with another lendor credit check. He should not be appraising properties and wasting people's time and money. read more

I have called everyday for 1 and 1/2 weeks and they keep telling me that someone will contact me . I don't think that they keep the customer in the loop at all after they get your money. They could go out and try and find an appraiser but it could be several weeks before an appraiser will take the job and that takes more time. I'm not happy with this company.
