The location was much smaller in 2013 but the core values of the gym is what made this place special then and those values still remain today. Walking into a boxing gym can be a daunting experience and alot of gyms are known for hazing new fighters in a way that could be unsafe. The EQBC experience happens to be the furthest thing from that, from the coaches to a fighters this gym is built on an environment that is cultivated around teamwork and personal development. From the most experienced fighter to the least experienced all members have a level of respect for others and the sport of boxing that make this gym truly special. Frankly speaking most gyms in NYC are money grabs with classes being taught by "trainers" who wouldnt know who Ali was if they were having lunch with him. EQBC is different, EQBC is the standard for real boxing gyms , where real fighters are made.

I believe learning how to box is an art and most of the principles of learning how to box coincide with life principles. I have seen my son thrive and progressively change. Learning how to box is difficult!  Finding a good coach is also hard but I believe we have found our coach, coach Nabeel. I see how coach Nabeel engages with my son and gets into his head, only some can coach children and he is one of the best. Coach Nabeel makes him stronger and makes him believe in himself. Coach Nabeel is doing a great job!! My son is learning discipline. He looks around at all the other individuals in the gym that work hard, and he feeds off their energy. This gym is not for the sluggish -so if your ready to work, sign up!!!! Everyone is nice and in their own way they all have something to teach, if you're willing to learn. Thank you, Eastern Queens Boxing Club, from a very happy parent.

Once upon a time when I couldn't defend myself I was a victim of bullying with my orange hair, freckles, and oily pale skin. My father when he wasn't watching baywatch, would put on old Tyson fights and the Rocky movies. He said Apollo creed is the best creation of everything you want in a champion (rest in paradise Carl weathers). After relocating to Long Island from Bayonne NJ, I found Kayo boxing gym in west Hempstead ny. Who I found was the fighting pride of Long Island Mr. Michael Corleone who has decades and decades of experience and within 2 seconds of talking to him you know this man ate punches for a living. The exact person you want in your corner going to battle, someone who has seen it all and taken it all, willing to fight and plod through fire taking 12 shots to deliver that 1. Classes are great usually ran by the dashing Mrs. Corleone and include all skill levels but I will tell you, you're going to sweat and burn the fat. Also options to compete and fight and I will say that is the nuts and bolts to this kayo operation. After 6 months of training I was entered into Bobby Campbell's Rise of A Hero fight card @Sons of Italy. Tickets were reasonably priced standing $85 , folding chair $120, or folding table for $1000 with 6 ppl minimum. Michael wrapped my hands and gave me the There is No Tomorrow speech from Rocky 3 because he saw I was shaking with nerves. I was very lucky my opponent was a lot younger, smaller, less skilled than me and I was able to get the knockout in the 1st round. Trained on and off for few years until injuries got the best of me. Michael is as fierce of a businessman as he is fighter so make sure your monthly dues are paid on time as I forgot it was recurring and I saw I was put into collections, I said I was sorry I forgot all about this and this can hurt my credit because I was buying a house and he told me to "pay my bills" which is the same tough love you get in the ring. One thing that is so cool is that Michael will still compete and fight along with his fighters on the show just like when he fought on the legends card against Bobby Campbell at mulcahys. Michael not fighting since the head kick ko to bloodaxe in 2014 he entered the ring to the sopranos woke up this morning song with the gladiator trunks strutting around the cage while Bobby didn't take this fight seriously as he entered with hangers and little beer gut. They traded punches as Bobby's loose midsection took Corleone's body blows meanwhile a cocky Michael walked into a right hand buckling his knees but made it to the final bell. His motor skills are a little off and it looks like he shouldn't Be operating any heavy machinery but can he fight. I've been to boxing gyms all over and this place has the family feel where everyone is a team. My goal was always to bring my son down and train just like his father but as of now he rather wear his mother's pumps and be referred to as JuJu T-Bone Tabone. Maybe kayo boxing is what he needs so Mr. & Mrs. Corleone you may be seeing Barney again soon Barney forever will sign on the dotted line for Kayo Boxing

I have been bringing my children here for over 12 years. Both of my sons have accelerated to the level of black belt but not without hard work and determination. Jeff Hunt is not just a karate teacher he is a mentor, father figure and an Elder. Jeff Hunt has created a professional nurturing and loving environment. This school is a family the children have a bond and a sense of community. They have not only learned to respect each other, carry themselves inside and outside the dojo with godly character but to also share and give back the tools they have learned. One of my boys has a learning disability and through the discipline of Jeff Hunt he has learned to listen focus pay attention which has impacted his social emotional and educational learning. Most important each child walks away with a sense of accomplishment knowing that it's not how you start it's how you FINISH! Thank you Jeff for all you're hard work and investment into our children, community and village.

My hope was that the class would help to build his self-confidence and help with discipline. This place had many kids with lots of instructors but there was no structure as to what was being taught, no accountability and lots of confusion. We also tried another dojo within my community and that still didn't work out for my son. Each morning after dropping my son at school, I would pass this karate studio not knowing that this was the same guy I heard about almost 2 years prior. We met one morning, I shared with him my goals for my son, did the trial and now my son is one of his students. Jeff serious and focus when it comes to teaching this art form of Karate that he passionate about. If you are looking for a place for your child to play then this is not it. Jeff is skilled in Shotokan and as such, your child will be taught in an organized and structured environment. They will be held accountable to learn their kata while being encouraged to focus and do their best not only in karate but in school. He encourages reading, he motivates and affirms his students. They don't just rank up, they put the work in. This teaches them the importance of hardwork and dedication. Seeing them move in unison is amazing!!! I have seen such a difference in my son as he works towards getting his next belt. As a Christian man, Jeff is well respected not only by his students and parents, but within his community. One of the things that I love about him is that he goes above and beyond his calling. He knows his students strengths and weaknesses and never hesitates to let them know how to improve. My son is learning valuable skills that will last a life time. Jeff always say " its not me, it's God". It doesn't get any better than this.
