We've been to this place many times before but have never left a review. This place is definitely a hidden gem! We got the sushi, Udon noodles, and chicken katsu. The rolls were solid, and the taste was good I would recommend them to anyone. The chicken katsu was done well, the chicken was crispy and the rice was warm and very good as well. It was also served with cabbage and another sauce as well as broccoli and carrot slices. The udon noodles were nice and springy they tasted fresh and the broth was somehow sweet with onions in it. It also came with a piece of shrimp tempura, cucumber, and carrots. I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite udon noodles yet. Was looking for a different sushi place in the area and was curious what Daruma was like. Yes, this is a sushi restaurant. And yes, the sushi is good. First, I'll tell you about my experience. When I arrived there was plenty of parking outside along the street of this sushi restaurant. There is outside seating and inside seating. The inside has several tables that can seat around 6 people. See my pictures attached. I ordered my sushi; 3 rolls for $9.99, which is a fair price. There are select types of sushi on a list that can be part of the 3-roll deal. I also got hot saké for around 6 bucks. Some of the special rolls cost around $10. The sushi took a little longer than I expected to come out and get to my table, but when it came out I was happy. The sushi is rolled tightly, was a good size, and a decent amount of ingredients inside. It was also styled nicely on my plate. See my attached pictures. I ordered all salmon avocado rolls, because they are my favorite. I was pleased to see that they also have gluten-free soy sauce. The hot sake comes in the ideal hot saké glass with the small shot glass. I have no gripes with my meal and was pleased. All together for a decent price, would make it tempting to me to come back often. I posted pictures of the menu items above the cash register. Check out the variety of food here. There is more than sushi here. If I were to make any improvements to this place, I would add some more sushi types to the menu, and not bother with sushi rolls with only a single meat in it, and no other combined ingredients. Spicy Mayo, cucumber, and avocado can make sushi more tempting. Before I came here I had a hard time finding a menu. This restaurant needs a website with the menu posted. Possibly a Facebook page with pictures of different plates and drinks posted on it occasionally. It would be nice if there was some Japanese music being played in the background, and the TV shouldn't be on the CNN channel (laughing). I also would enjoy seeing some of the staff going around and checking on customers to see how they are doing. So what do I think overall? Well I definitely approve of this restaurant, and I certainly will be coming back for sushi. The prices are also fair, so in that case, why not come back more often with some friends? I think this place would be twice as busy if people could see the menu items online. Also, gluten and lactose free food options always bring more people in. I got sushi here and it did not disappoint. The standard rolls are really good quality for the price. Didn't try any specials rolls but I assume the quality is the same. My daughter and I stopped by for lunch today. I ordered the seafood ramen, tempura combo & my daughter ordered the spicy ramen, and the spicy sushi. The shiro (soup base) had no body or flavor, It seems to be packaged Saimin with a lot of chili pepper in it. The shrimp tempuras were way to small, though the veggies were nice. And the Spicy sushi roll was not up to speed. The rice was very mushy (too much water while being cooked), and I couldn't find the shrimp! I will not be visiting this place anytime soon, I'd rather make my own Saimin if they are the last result. This is decent sushi for the price. You get 3 rolls (6 pieces each) for $12. Before inflation, it was $10. I get the tuna & avocado, salmon & avocado, eel & avocado, shrimp tempura, and calamari tempura. I've had the bulbogi (Korean beef) & Udon noodle soup there as well. Their Udon soup has onions and carrots in it, which makes it unusual. If someone has to spend time in Greeley, this is a good restaurant for the area. As this is walking distance of both the UNC School of Music and the Business School it is often packed with students and faculty. However, it is quiet and a great place to get lunch after the throngs have dispares back into the classrooms. @1:15. A popular choice among the Asian options is the three roll combo- you can choose any of the ten options. My rolls today were tasty (I prefer traditional, fewer ingredient rolls), how ever, they were rather haphazardly constructed and tended to fall apart between the plate and my mouth. Normally they are better. This is a decent place for rolls, bento box lunches and some ramen or bulgogi. They don't have straight out sushi- but Colorado hasn't been close to an ocean since the Paleozoic era. I always get the three roll combo with the tempura rolls as my selection. They used to be fully breaded. Now they a skimming... Quality sank hella... It says it comes with mongolian beef but you literally get one small piece of meat (the size of the top third of your pinky. You get half an egg and some onions and carrots. I decided to stop by while I was in the area, and since the call themselves a noodle house I decided to try the spicy ramen. It was decent -- the noodles had the right texture, but the vegetable broth was lacking in umami ... more like what I would expect for udon (so maybe I will try the tempura udon the next time I'm around). It's a nice space with plenty of Japanese ambience, but I happened to get take-out and really appreciate that they were willing to package my noodles and my soup separately so the noodles wouldn't get too soggy. It's also nice to see other Japanese comfort food items like katsu curry and yaki soba on offer, too. Soooo ... Fort Collins expansion? Anytime I am craving Japanese noodles, I always come to Daruma, especially for the tempura udon. I have tried udon from every Japanese restaurant in town and by far Daruma's is the best. The broth is super flavorable and tasty and I appreciate the perfect noodle/vegetable-to-broth ratio - I have found that other establishments overfill the bowl with noodles and vegetables which end up soaking up all the broth and quickly become soggy, so that's always a plus! I have also tried the spicy ramen here, which overall is pretty good, but would much rather prefer a meat-based broth for added flavor and savor instead of a vegetable-based broth in this dish. Daruma is a great place for a casual meal and offers a variety of other Japanese foods like yaki soba or udon, fried rice, teriyaki, sushi, and bento boxes. The table next us ordered sushi and from eyeing it, it looked pretty good. The atmosphere is definitely izakaya-esque with nice Japanese decor and offers a pretty good selection of beers (on tap and bottled), as well as sake. There is also boba tea - the taro and thai boba teas are delicious! The ONLY complaint I have is the service. I don't mind self-service of retrieving our order, but our items always come out at different times. I find myself having to get up mid-bite to grab an item from our order. I would rather just get everything all at once instead of having to keep going up in between bites, but I can deal. read more

Normally I'd give Daruma 3 or 4 stars given that it is ok Japanese fare for a small college town in Colorado. It is laudable that they are open during the pandemic, but I am disappointed to see the front of house workers not wearing masks. The FDA says it is optional, but Weld county is a hotspot. Perfectly acceptable and nice place for the neighborhood. Hey, they're right next to the University, so they need to offer good food at budget prices. They are perfect for their constituency. The food is great - good flavors, reasonable prices. I agree they don't go overboard on portion size, but still, you'll pay twice the price for some of the sushi rolls (i.e. Dragon Roll) at the more upscale locations. The ambiance here is fabulous! I tried the jalapeno roll and the fried tempura roll. My fave was the fried tempura roll and I enjoyed cuteness of this place. I sat in a booth and the top had tiles of cute and pained sketches of Japanese collectibles. This place is absolutely adorable! We first visited Daruma Noodles a couple of weeks ago and each had veggie yaki soba noodles. The staff were attentive and knowledgable regarding their menu, and the noodles were delicious! We asked for spicy noodles, and they were indeed spicy - not something that always happens when you make that request. We'd like to see more vegetarian appetizer options - they have edamame and gyozas, so why not combine the two for edamame gyozas? We'll be returning often, and fully recommend this restaurant. My husband and I were in town visiting family for Christmas. We decided to stop and show mom how delicious ramen and treat her to dinner. We waited 15 minutes just standing to order food. The restaurant is a casual dining fast food type of restaurant. I ordered the spicy ramen and it came with a bowl of rice. The soup base was not thick or flavorful. It also came with a hard boiled egg and fish cake. I was confused with the consistency as it was more like Pho with top ramen noodles rather than miso. This is mostly likely due to the broth being vegetable based. Also, it was way spicy for my liking. Sushi was ok. I liked the crunch roll, but was over priced. Our meal cost $80.00 for 4 people, but was only worth $40.00. read more
