The hostess was friendly, bubbly and helpful with our menu choices. We started with the Pretzel bites with a cheese sauce and a mustard sauce for dipping. Little pillows with plenty of salt, a winner. No entree, we shared Onion Rings, Boneless chicken wings (Bbq sauce and garlic Parmesan sauce) and two sausages, bratwurst and knockwurst. Along with my wife ordering Kolsch on tap, we were in heaven. It brought us back to a trip we took to Germany. All delicious. Entrees consisted of German Style Meatloaf and the house's Chicken Chesapeake: essentially chicken schnitzel topped with crab dip in a bed of spaetzle, which is a little like Mac and cheese made with egg noodles. Very tasty. So that food was definitely sitting there for at least 2.5 hours or longer. I She showed me how the pancakes couldn't even be cut lol so she had to fold it and dip it in the syrup The staff is scattered everywhere and always back and forth in an unorganized kind of way. Every time I come to Das, I wonder why I don't come more often. This has been my once a year Oktoberfest spot for the last 2 years, but the happy hour specials are so good that we definitely plan on coming more often. Their beer selection is incredible, and $10/liter on happy hour is pretty great. Nothing like drinking out of a giant stein to get you in the Oktoberfest mood!! We also had their crab pretzel and a corn dog. The pretzel was HUGE and the corn dog was standard bar fare. Their menu is extensive and has so many great looking options. I will say, service was a bit slow and I definitely recommend making a reservation if you're coming around dinner time. It's loud and a dive in the best way. People obviously love this place, I know I do. I'm not into the loud but the food is soooo worth it and the servers are pretty cool too. Also has sports on multiple televisions. I haven't even tried enough of the sauces but one day. The nacho cheese sauce is really good with a strong kick, beer cheese is good too. The pretzel is fresh and delicious. Soft perfect bites. I didn't think I would but I loved the sauerkraut balls which were deep fried mashed potatoes and sauerkraut with a side of delicious ranch. The wings were great, my only suggestion more buffalo sauce. I will say my husband thought the Reuben was just ok. I will admit on looks alone the meat didn't look great. Celebrating the beginning of Oktoberfest with ALL THAT CABBAGE!! Or at least that's how it seemed with my plate - no regerts ;) Parking is a bit strange here. The lot is across the street. There's a tiny amount of parking near the building - accessible spots mostly, but the entrance by these spots has steps. The accessible entrance is around front. When facing the building, go to the right, through the outdoor seating. The door was being held open by some beer boxes, which were awkward to drive around, but I made it. All the tables seem like high tops, but go up the ramp, toward the bathrooms, and there's a whole space of lower tables. However, if you are a wheelchair user, you're going to have to park yourself at the end of the table, because they're like huge picnic tables - the kind with the attached benches. The waiters wear adorable German outfits, so there's that... We had pretzel bites as an appetizer. Did not like the beer cheese. Maybe if you like beer... but my boyfriend LOVES those beer cheese sandwiches on pretzel buns from Wendy's so he insisted on the beer cheese dipping sauce. The sriracha honey old bay dip was the better of the two. They offer like 20 different sauces, so I'm definitely going to have to try other flavors next time we're there.... if we return. I had stuffed cabbage rolls (not as good as my grandmother's - but it's hard to find anything better than those childhood memories), red cabbage, and warm potato salad. Take note that it does NOT say "German potato salad." It was delicious, but without the heavy bacon and vinegar flavors I thought would be present. My boyfriend had a wretched brisket open-faced sandwich, covered with french fries and gravy. He couldn't bite the meat, and he said the gravy was horrible. He threw it out. But, on the other hand, the French Dip was a winner. He thoroughly enjoyed that, and I dare say he would order it again. My mom had a sausage and sauerkraut grilled cheese, which she seemed to enjoy, but her favorite item of the entire meal was the creamed spinach. I usually find cooked spinach to taste like a swamp, but this was SO creamy and delicious. I'D order it - heck, get it instead of the red cabbage (which you can get in a jar at any decent grocery store). I had a great time and would like to try about 20 other items from the menu, but my mother (who pays) said that she wouldn't come back until next year. I don't know if that's because she wasn't as impressed, or because we had to take the highway to get to Parkville, and she has a nervous breakdown if we travel over 45mph.... eh, what can you do? We were told that we would have a 25 minute wait, but that wait was closer to 30 minutes. Our waiter was prompt to apologize for the extended wait, and he attributed it to unruly guests upstairs. Overall, the service was quite slow. It seemed that they had more guests than the staff could handle. As for the beer, it was quite good. I had 1 Maß Paulaner Helles Bier (which they write as 1 liter of Paulaner Lager). It tasted just as it does in Germany, although nearly double the price as it is there. The food was mid grade. The Jägerschnitzel was quite good, as well as the potato salad. I was disappointed to find that they only offer Spätzle as a side and not Käsespätzle. Overall, I think the food is an American take on German classics. They did have plenty of sauce options for the pretzels though! The ambience was very rowdy for the top floor. The bottom floor, however, was more chill. We went to the Parkville location, which I do not think we will be returning to. We would like to try the Bel Air location though! read more

The food portion was generous that a small eater could share one serving. Food tasted good, considerably legit German recipes, presentation was at par compared to others. I have to mention the schnitzel was fried using an overused oil I suppose, because they served us one burnt-looking fried dish. I can tell because I fry a lot. We came here last Friday night to eat in the basement where it is usually quieter. The upstairs is incredibly loud and you have to yell to be heard on a Friday or Saturday night. A server asked us if we were part of the "lacrosse party" which we were not. We were told there was a private party in the basement and we had to go back upstairs...Where it is so noisy that we cannot have a normal conversation. We left and went elsewhere. I am pretty sure most of the food is bought frozen elsewhere-- it's really not super German, just German-ish. If we ever come back we will do so on a week night. Which will never happen. First glance: weird parking situation (parked across from the bar), had a bouncer check our IDs (on a Sunday at 8:30pm), and it's a seat yourself kind of place. Definitely felt like a bar and had your typical bar food and a huge selection for food and drinks. Must Try: Pretzels I got the king pretzel with a friend, and that alone could feel 2 people. King pretzel is if you want to share with 4 or more people. I tried the spinach artichoke pretzel and the crab oldbay pretzel. Both really good. I would suggest to go for the regular king pretzel with 3 dips, because the dips were really good. Dips: Honey butter mustard was really good. Queso Blanco tasted like any other queso Raspberry jalapeno was really good. Raspberry jam was nice but the jalapeno kicked at the end which was really interesting. Definitely a try. Their brunch menu was just as extensive as their regular menu, again making it difficult to make a decision. We settled on: Breakfast Pretzel Scramble & I couldn't resist getting the Veal Schnitzel BLT again (especially since it's paired with their fries- which are on my Top 3 favorite restaurant fries of all time list!) The Veal Schnitzel BLT was just as amazing as I remembered it. Crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes, mixed greens, and a zesty lemon aioili-perfectly pairing with a well-seasoned veal schnitzel. Such a high quality cut of juicy, moist meat- the combination was absolutely delicious. And the fries.....drool. Perfect, perfect, perfect crisp. The Breakfast Scramble had a fresh warm, crispy pretzel topped with a fluffy asparagus and peppers omelette smothered in beer cheese.
