We used Das Meyer for our main cake and our groom cake. They did a beautiful design and it was absolutely a work of art. I've used Das Meyers in the past and they never disappoint. From their customer service, to their artistry with frosting/decorating, to the baking it is all top notch. I made changes several times & I was never treated as a nuisance, I was always treated with respect & care. They are all about bringing your vision to life. They don't take credit cards so it's a little disconcerting initially in our tech world to pay by in state check or cash but fully worth it. They are family owned & thats one of my favorite things, to see it pass generation to generation is very very cool. read more

I found this place when I was making my masterlist of restaurants I wanted to try when I first moved here, then I read an article about it and then, finally, I visited. And it doesn't disappoint. First of all, it's in a really pretty spot and it does look like a chalet. And second of all, the pastry case is MASSIVE. They pretty much have everything you could ever want. I have to say how disappointed I am with every thing about our recent encounter with Das Myer . To start from the moment I saw my daughters wedding cake I was some what shocked that I was paying $$$ that much for a cake that looked like a beginner made. However,I played nice and was polite thinking that due to the pandemic maybe they were short staffed and I knew that I could fix it for the big day. The cake was very disappointing it had so much icing that we could not even cut it and dry and crumbly. We practically had to dismantle the whole thing to even give the bride and groom a bite We had to put a deposit down on a silly plastic stand that held the cake together. When we returned the stand about a month later together the deposit back the person to the $2dollar stand and said oh thanks but that was due back 3 weeks ago and we charge so much a day so no return for you. My husband and I are major foodies, and Das Meyer was the first wedding vendor we booked. After trying cakes at a dozen other spots, it was clear that Das Meyer: 1) Made the moistest, most flavorful cakes in the Denver area 2) Had the prettiest fondant-free cakes we'd ever seen 3) Still managed to be the cheapest bakeries we found! We ended up with about 140 servings of cake for our 80 guests, and EVERY SINGLE BITE was gobbled up by the end of the reception! And this is after a 4-course seated dinner! If that doesn't convince you to give their cakes a try, I don't know what will. In terms of decoration: My husband and I wanted an evolution-themed cake; the bottom tier covered in protists, the second in dinosaurs, and the third with a Mammoth and with us and our naked cat on top. Naturally this took a bit of explaining and a lot of dinoflagellate drawings, but in the end everything was better than we could have even imagined! The white-on-white buttercream made it look like a lace pattern from a distance, but the protists were done with such detail that our nerdier friends could classify each one! They need no introduction, but we have been big fans of Das Meyer for a long time. My parents and my grandparents have been fans as well. It was no surprise we went to them for our small wedding cake. We had the raspberry lemon cake that was to die for. I thought it was fairly reasonable on price and the taste was amazing on the day of. They were also great in helping us rent their large cake stand to place our donuts on! Ugh! I really WANTED to give this place 5 stars, I've been dying to come by here for years and yesterday was the day! However, I can only give 3 stars and here's why. Let me preface with, the young lady that helped us, super fun, helpful, and pleasant, loved her! So, we picked out 80.00 bucks worth of treats ranging from cookies, brownies, lemon bars, macaroons, chocolate eggs, and petite fours. All of them were so sadly disappointing, I was so bummed! Petite fours all tasted of almond, too over powering, couldn't taste any of the fruit fillings layered inside. Cookie tray assortment, very sad, all tasted the same, but decorated pretty! The macaroons were actually good, but the lemon bar only had lemon on the top layer, but it was super yummy, that top layer. German chocolate brownie and Chocolate Sin were just ok, decorated pretty, but nothing special. I'll visit again to try a cupcake, since they are known for awesome wedding cakes, but this visit, sadly disappointing for 80 dollars. read more

The taste of the cake was delicious, so for that I would give them 5 stars, BUT...a great tasting cake isn't that hard to find. The issue was the color of the cake. I made it very clear I wanted an IVORY and pink cake and instead I got a somewhat brown taupe colored cake. I showed them a lot of IVORY colored pictures. When I confronted them they tried to blame me, reminding them I said the cake was great, which I had until I started looking at pictures. When I confronted them, they said it was a 'miscommunication'. There was NO miscommunication except on THEIR part. Ivory is ivory and brown/taupe is just that! To add to the insult, their compensation for THEIR SCREW up was a total of a whole $60.00 for a cake that cost over $700.00! Sorry but had they did more to fix THEIR SCREW UP, I might have let it slide, but $60 compensation, not even 10% for making the WRONG COLOR CAKE and somewhat blaming me for 'miscommunication, that's complete BS! And now I'm seeing their MANY NEGATIVE reviews!! I wish I would have looked sooner. read more

I was very disappointed with the cupcakes I ordered from this bakery. My friends at work said this bakery was the best in town and I should order my best friends baby shower cupcakes from there. I paid $130 dollars for 28 cupcakes...I could have paid $39 dollars for the same amount and better quality from my local grocery store. The design was adorable, but the cupcakes were stale, dry and had no flavor. I tried to contact the bakery and it was closed for three days. Das Meyer is truly amazing. We have ordered numerous specialty cakes from them for special events - each one was delicious and absolutely gorgeous. Pictured is one of these specialty cakes. Das Meyer was provided with the wording and was asked to make it serial killer themed. The pastry chef did the rest. (The flavor was tres leches - incredible!). Their cookies, danish, and croissant pockets are all delicious, as well. This family-owned business deserves all your business. We have been getting Das Meyer cakes for years and have never been let down - tasted great, awesome decorations - but I just cut into my birthday cake and was surprised to see it was NOT what we ordered. We ordered white chocolate with raspberry filling. No raspberry filling. My husband called to inquire what was going on and they told him "Oh, yeah we gave you a $5 discount because we didn't have raspberry today". What? They never even bothered to tell him in person that it wasn't the cake he ordered. They offered to make me a complimentary 6" (miniature) cake in the flavor I ordered, but tonight is my birthday and birthday party - nice try. They refused to refund our money. On top of it all, the cake was disgusting. I have never been disappointed in their cakes - but this was almost "wet" tasting, and the filling (without raspberry, of course) was too thin and watery. We will NOT be using them for any functions in the future. I was most upset with their customer service. I do not think that a $5 discount is adequate for not giving you the right order - and it is completely unacceptable that they did NOT inform my husband that the cake was incorrect when he picked it up. I would give them 0 stars if I could. UPDATE: I went back 2 days after my birthday to pick up my "complimentary cake". I dealt with the owner's daughter who was rude an unapologetic and said no less than 5 times "you got exactly what you ordered, it just didn't have raspberry filling". Then I DIDN'T get exactly what I ordered, did I? She was upset that I returned the uneaten cake and kept saying we could have eaten it - I told her that it was not what we ordered, so why would we eat it? Had we known it was incorrect, we wouldn't have brought it home at all. After 10 minutes of discussion and no progress, I accepted $5 and the 6" inch cake (which was delicious, of course) and left. So, we ended up paying $30 for a 6" cake 2 days after my birthday. A complete disappointment. We will never be back. read more

We had our wedding at the Westin this year and Das Meyer is gracious enough to be their cake providers. Included with our package was a basic cake that matched the number of guests we had attending. I attended two of their Saturday sampling days and felt very welcomed! The flavors available for tasting are primarily their upgraded fillings, but you can get a good idea of what the basics would taste like. They work with fresh fruits and are very willing to outline all of the ingredients available to make the filling what you wish. Be sure to come early as the shop fills up quickly and tasting isn't a fast process. There are books and display cakes galore to show what styles they offer. I came with a picture of what I would like, which was a square bottom with two rounds on top. We ended up going for very basic frosting and beading design along each layer, as the price to add fondant and sugar flowers was super high. I had found a cake plate to use that matched that in the picture, but 2 weeks before the wedding, found out that the cake would be twice the size of my plate. Check sizing before buying anything! We ended up with a giant silver base that didn't match our wedding theme and we had to pay to rent. The cake didn't turn out exactly like the picture (I think due to having to be big enough to feed 100 ppl), but we were still very pleased with it. The cake was moist and the fillings (strawberries with jam, lemon, and raspberry jam) were all very fresh and delicious. Definitely keep in mind that it is a cash or cheque only business and that they are closed Sunday and Monday. Our cake supplies had to be returned by the following Thursday, but due to work, I was only able to bring them out to Arvada on Saturday. I called during the week and thankfully wasn't penalized for being late. read more
