The owner and her family are so kind and patient. We had a last minute wedding cake order that she was able to deliver on in just two weeks notice. Not only was the cake very delicious, it was decorated way better than we anticipated. We are beyond happy and satisfied with the entire process and product. This is coming from a true big back, cake lover, fat kid. I have been eating cakes for 30 years and this by far has been the driest, blandest, most atrocious, excuse of a cake I've ever consumed. The roaches in my apartment didn't even bother trying the cake. The cake was decorated beautifully, but does beauty matter if you're ugly on the inside? I have had better Betty Crocker cakes baked by children. I will just stick to my Chantilly cake from Wholefoods from now on. read more

Soo happy with A Cake Occasion! We used them for my daughter's 2nd birthday party cake. I had a custom cake made. It was nice to be able to pick out all of the flavors from soo many options. We went with almost all chocolate and had a fudge layer inside - sooo good! They made the cake exactly how I expected it. It was beautiful! We received a lot of compliments on it. I had an amazingly cute custom cake made. It was beyond adorable. My daughter loved it as did all of our guests. It was nicely baked and I could tell the ingredients were high quality. I paid $91 but I dont know if this is considered a fair deal or not as this was the first custom cake I ever ordered. Seemed like a good deal to me. My only complaint is that their admin side needs a little work. The person who took the order and the person who answers the phone dont have a good system. I ended up explaining what the cake looked like when I called in rather than just giving a name for the order. For a split second I was concerned it didnt get made at all which was scary, and could also be a very easy fix. read more

Used to be a great fairly priced place for a special occasion cake...not anymore. They wanted to charge 200.00 for a simple cake that was only for 20-30 guests charge everything seperate, i.e. cream cheese frosting for $30.00 extra. No way, only uninformed customers will buy what their selling. Horrible. Had a different place with better reputation sell me the same cake for $100.00 less. They even said they've heard a lot of others complain about their pricing too recently. read more

Love love love this place! We got our wedding cake here and they did an exceptional job. They did exactly what we wanted and we got so many compliments. The taste of the cake is also amazing! They pay attention to the details of their cake and you can definitely tell. It's a family own business, which I love to support. They also gave us a 1 year anniversary cake for free with the same design as our wedding cake. That was super thoughtful! We get all our cakes here for all occasions! read more

Went here on 2/11/23. We ordered my sons birthday cake a couple weeks before and that was the day we were going to pick it up. It was just a basic vanilla cake and blue and white butter cream. It was a good cake. Looking in their cooler they will really do a cake for anything and any design. Then they have multiple kinds of cupcakes. We the coconut and lemon poppy. Could use some more coconut flavor. But definitely will be back to try more. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We went on Saturday morning and they were very busy. read more

We were skeptical since we haven't had much luck finding a good cakery in the area - too dry, too sweet, etc. We've finally found it! With the big focus on custom cakes lately, it seems like flavor and moisture of the actual cake isn't always there. I've found design and aesthetic takes away from enjoying the cake. One of our favorite local businesses in Thornton area. We love their cupcakes, brownies and cakes. We get a dozen cupcakes once a month to share with all of our friends. A Cake Occasion created the quad-layer cake for our wedding and it was gorgeous as well as delicious. The biggest difference with A Cake Occasion is that their cakes/cupcakes are always flavor-filled and moist, which is not something you can say about many bakeries or most cupcakes. I placed my order over the phone and felt very comfortable. They were extremely helpful and very thorough, asking lots of questions to make sure the cake was what I wanted and what I was picturing. Meh.. we needed a cake that day and we're prepared to get whatever they had available. The sales person was so unhelpful it was as if she didn't want us to buy a cake. She had no idea about the cakes , gave very brief answers when we asked about them and refused to write congratulations on the cake we bought, Saying it was impossible to do so on this cake - so lazy , her customer service was awful The cake itself was crammed with frosting -yuck! A bit if cake and it wasn't even moist. Never going back to that high priced bakery,, and I would not recommend!!! read more

So I ordered a Kouign Amman then when I arrived for pick up, what is in the display case but morning buns. The Kouign is delicious but it is also pretty darn small. It's the size of a muffin. Then when I was there, I added a big pretzel and that came to ... $18. It's VERY big but seems like maybe $10-$12 would be luxury pricing instead of $16. I'll probably come back because it's near my house and it is so tasty, but if I had to drive, this might be the death knell. I have a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. And an empty belly.

That just meant for some delicious leftovers (that actually reheated perfectly). The pho broth was as clear as I had imagined from looking at other patrons' photos. If I could I would rate this a bad place for business. We have been customers for a few years now and this last visit is our last. Their cake have always been a hit or miss by that I mean too dry they are never ready in time and we would have to wait. This last cake we ordered was great until this past weekend. I received a call from a staff member about returning some plastic parts from a princess cake they made for us Jan 26th. When we ordered the cake they did ask for a deposit we were told it was because of they type of cake not at any moment did she say we need to bring the parts back. So when this staff member called me she had a attitude and decided to say I was not a respectable person and so on. She then got the owner on the phone and she was extremely rude and was pretty much saying that they were going to charge me for the parts that I thought belonged to the cake because her staff did not inform us we needed to take it back. She also said she did not believe me but she had to say the customer was right even if she did not think so she had more things to say that made me realize she probably should NOT have a bakery and her customer service sucks to say the lease. So 1st I would never buy a cake with rented items that makes me think that is not very clean. 2nd for the OWNER to yell and me and tell me maybe I should buy my cake from a Wal-Mart is rude and they have lost a costumer. I will never refer a person to this place because they clearly do not know how to run a business and inform customers of "rented" items. read more

I was referred by a wedding venue to try this company, so I set up a scheduled cake tasting. When my fiancé and I arrived, they were extremely busy - which impressed us. We looked at their books for about 5 minutes and then were told to sit at the table and our samples would be out in just a moment. When the samples arrived, they forgot the forks - 20 minutes later, she finally brought them out to us. No body ever sat down with us to discuss what we wanted, pricing, etc. We were left guessing what cake/fillings were what and it was just all very informal and rushed. I understand being busy, but what is the point of scheduling an appointment if you don't have someone available to focus on the appointment?! Needless to say, because of our experience at the tasting, we will not be using this bakery for our wedding cake. read more

I was shopping for my sons 9th birthday cake on 10/16/15 and visited several different cake shops. I was looking for something fresh and unique. While I was looking at options at A Cake Occasion, the owner walked in and was carrying several King Soopers bags filled with Betty Crocker cake mixes..... what a disappointment. I left immediately. I wanted something made from scratch not from a box! In addition, the customer service sucked! The staff who helped me was not very helpful. I was asking if anyone was familiar with Five Nights at Freddy's and they simply said sorry, No. If this was my shop I would have been more helpful by asking additional questions and offering to look it up online. read more

I paid Jen (owner) in full more than 6 months before our wedding as covid was hitting small businesses hard and to be let down by the end result is just unfortunate. I heard the cookie sandwiches were good. All cupcakes were missing meringues as discussed I would not recommend Ruby Jean.

I chose a showstopper cake, with funfetti and strawberry flavor profiles, and it turned out perfectly! My partner visited this establishment on a Saturday morning and they were very accommodating. While they did not have any whole cakes, they put together a couple of chocolate decorations with happy birthday wishes and added them to their only whole presliced cake they were going to use for individual slices. It was a tiramisu and it was so light and fluffy! Also tried a few pastries which were divine. It workout great and we will definitely be back!
