Im surprised at a few negative stories so let me tell you mine. We were left a clock from my father n law after he passed that was from England and maybe almost 200 years old. We figured it probably needed cleaning so we gave it to a clock repair man who {TTT). When it was returned it never worked properly so several times he would pick up the clock and keep it for months return it saying it work and then it would stop or chime the wrong number of times. Each time he worked on it he charged us but never fixed it. We spent more than I'd like to admit and he finally said there was nothing he could do for all the money we spent we'd just have to spend more. We paid for his time NOT to fix it. Enter Dave!!!! I took a chance that someone else would understand. Dave said it should be simple fix. I doubted him. If it was simple it would only cost essentially what was a flat rate. He returned it and the chime was off and he took it again. Finally, although he kept it for a while to make sure it was working, I assume,, It came back. He still only charged the agreed amount and it has been working ever since. This is a treasured heirloom and my wife is thrilled. After our experience with the other repairman Dave is a breath of fresh air. read more

I was the recipient of a grandfather clock from my aunt in Florida that has been in the family for many years. They shipped it to us but since our new home wasn't ready it sat in storage for 6 months. We finally moved in and we finally had a chance to get it up and running. So I called Dave at Dave's Clock Shop and booked an appointment. He was really great about getting back to me. And we scheduled a date for him to come out. So today was the day and he came out and put our clock together! He was quick and efficient and even oiled everything so it would run smoothly. He explained everything we needed to know about the maintenance of the our clock. He took his time to show us how it worked and how to set it. What a nice guy too. Very very nice and he will get all of our clock business from now on. I highly recommend him for repairs or even to assemble your clock. Thank you Dave. Unbelievably unethical business!! I was referred to Dave by my insurance company after a family antique grandmother clock was damaged in transit. I paid a lot of money to have him leave me with a gorgeous clock that has not worked properly since. After leaving many messages, he called me almost a year ago to explain that he's not often in my area but would definitely get it fixed properly. While I understand it may not be an easy job, I don't understand why he hasn't followed through with his promise or even simply returned a phone call. EVERYONE has time to return a phone call or send a text, especially over the course of a year when one has already been paid to do a job. Over this last year, myself and my family have left at least 50 messages on his voicemail in an attempt to get him to follow through with his promise and repair the clock properly as I paid him to do. I have not received one call back since April 18th of 2018, even when I simply ask him to return my call to advise me on the best way to handle the situation. As a business owner myself, I find the whole situation incredibly unethical and unprofessional. I've left voicemails almost daily over the last week, sometimes after just being forwarded to his voicemail. DO NOT pay him to touch your clock and find anyone else, anywhere to do it...really ANYONE OR ANYWHERE!! read more

Called Dave to have a Grandfather clock set up and put in working order after being crated for shipping. He responded right away, scheduled and knocked the job out with no muss or fuss. Wow, I was so excited to find out that to repair my wall clock, actually replace the works, would only cost $75 [minus 10% because of the sale] and be ready in two weeks, but then it's now been 4 1/2 weeks and I just found out that NOTHING has been done to repair my clock, which is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! So here's my Story: At 2 1/2 weeks I called the shop and was advised by the gentleman answering the phone that "it's being worked on" and that I would be called when it was ready. At 3 1/2 weeks I called again. The same gentleman I spoke to one week earlier advised that "it's being worked on", so I asked what that meant and he advised that the techs were out, but that I would be called when it was ready. It's now been over 4 1/2 weeks and I've received NO calls for this vendor, so I called again. I spoke to Jennie this morning who not only advised that she could not locate my clock and would have to call me back, but that when she did call back she stated that the work authorized was to replace the works with the pendulum, but NO CHIME. When I advised that I was not contacted to authorize no chime, Jennie was basically speechless. I advised that they are to do nothing and that I would pick the clock up... What a grand disappointment!!! Buyer beware... read more

Dave was great and very thorough with repairing and oiling my great father clock. I would recommend him.

We took in my Grand mothers old clock for repair. I was lied to completely I found out later. I was told that the parts to repair it were not available and had to replace mechanics inside with new battery operated ones. I agreed under the impression that it was the only option. When I picked up the clock and paying close to 400.00 to get it working I got to see that the quality of work was kindergarten level. So it worked for les than a year and their installation failed. This sent me looking on the Internet and parts are still available. About 40 bucks for a complete origional mechanism. They installed a unit that requires replacement of the batteries every 6 weeks. They used silicone to glue the mechanism to the face of the clock. So they way overcharged me. The part they used cost 25 $ and took 4 screws off to remove the old one. Some glue to put the new one in and maybe spent a half hour doing it (if I was generous with the time) maybe they charged me to watch the glue dry. Do not go here. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. They ruined a family heirloom. read more

The first purchase my new bride and I made together was a whitewash contemporary grandfather clock in1992. It was and is awesome. Some years later, we sold our home and moved south from HB. I decided to pack the clock myself and removed the weights and pendulum, As I did, I broke the clip that holds the pendulum. As our kids were young, after moving into our new home, I never got around to fixing the clock. Luckily, my wife had packed the weights and pendulum very carefully and was placed in storage. Forward to 2021. My kids now grown, we decided we needed the clock to be functional as opposed to just sitting in the hallway (some 29 years). I looked up "grandfather clock repair" on the interweb and decided to call Dave. We scheduled an appointment and drug our clock parts out from storage. When Dave arrived, we explained the history of the clock. Dave stated he MAY be able to get it working. 30 Minutes later, weights were hung, and a new clip for the pendulum was installed. We waited like a dog at the curb. Dave leveled the clock on our uneven carpet and fired it up! To our surprise, it began to work and chime. We now hear our wonderful chimes every 15 minutes. It has been 9 months now and we are thoughtful of Dave every time we hear the wonderful chimes. This guy is a true professional. The 1/4 chimes make us think of him regularly! Daves clock Shoppe is a rare gem these days, they are knowledgeable and trustworthy. I have brought many watches to them over the last few years. I have always found them to be honest, and fair in my dealings with them. I trust them to take care of both expensive watches as well as inexpensive watches. I have tried other places, and I now will not bring my watches anywhere but Daves Clock shop. I know that I can leave a watch with them and trust they will take good care of it. I made an appointment for Dave to make a house call and the service quoted me a price. Prior to the house call, his service phoned to remind me of the appointment. Very bad customer service. Not a friendly place if you're a new customer. I went there looking for a watch repair shop. Walked in the door and up towards the counter with my small child and we stood there for nearly 10 minutes with no one bothering to say, "hello", "how can I help you" or even "I'll be with you in a minute". Yes, there was an older lady at the counter who appeared to be helping another lady with her clock but for god sakes, how hard is it to acknowledge a new customer who just walked in the store and was standing there with her small child waiting for help. It wasn't as if the store was crowded... one else was in the store!! Oh well, after standing there for several minutes with my expensive ceramic swiss watch in my hand, not being acknowledged whatsoever nor getting any type of customer service, I just walked out with my son and took our business elsewhere! The place is very small, dingy, not easy to find. Trust me there are plenty of other local watch/clock repair shops out there in mission viejo and south county so I wouldn't bother coming here unless you are really desparate or want to be badly treated for some reason. A huge disappointment. They had my clock for 8 months, twice I called to see the status of it. Then 'Dave' himself calls me and says it's been here, haven't had a chance to look at it. They made me wait months before even acknowledging my order. Then he say's it looks like I can fix it, for $200+. A week later it was finished. Then I bring a watch in, (and now you're thinking. "why did you continue to patronize them?" and being fair minded thought I'd give them a second chance.) So the watch is not even worth $70. and the woman at the counter says they'll call me with an estimate before they do anything. She calls to say it's fixed, to the tune of $110.....WHAT? No estimate and now it costs me more than it's worth. If it weren't for the fact that it was a sentimental piece of a deceased relative, I would have let them keep it. She gave me $10. off and tooted her horn that I should be happy I got it for less. I told her I will never patronize their store again. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I'll take my fair minded business somewhere else. read more
