Well, this year we celebrate our 25th anniversary and my wife wanted a ring guard as her present. We talked to Sam and he assured us he could make whatever we wanted. She found a picture at a big box jewelry store of one she really liked and we took it to Sam. He walked us through designing and we asked him to create it with her engagement ring as part of the ring. The result is the attached picture. Thanks to yelp we found this jewelry store. My wife's wedding band had recently lost a diamond baguette and another baguette was cracked. She also wears another ring whose prongs that hold the diamonds were worn down. We first received an estimate at a jewelry store closer to our home. We then checked out Nuggets and Carats. Sam put the rings on his jewelry microscope and let us get a view of what exactly was going on and explaining it to us. Their cost to repair was half the cost of the first estimate we received and they even did some additional repairs at no extra charge. Husband and I came here the other day to see if they could make a custom replication of my white gold halo engagement ring, but replicate it in platinum, using the same diamonds in my current setting. Sam, the owner, looked at my ring and said, "Sure. But I wouldn't recommend it." He said that he made the same ring for his daughter but used white gold instead of platinum. He said all I really needed was rhodium plating which he said I should get done every 1-3 years, but never more than once a year at most. Husband and I went with the rhodium plating which we had had them do a few years ago. They charge $40 for this service that they do within a few hours. My ring came back to me, shiny, sparkling and like brand new. We really appreciated Sam's honesty and advice. He could have charged us an arm and a leg for the platinum setting, but chose to steer us to a much better option. They also replace luxury brand watch batteries (Cartier, Chanel etc) for only $10. We are thankful for businesses like this one that operate with integrity and honesty, and that refuse to make a quick buck. I commissioned Sam to make a music note pendant from an old mine cut diamond I inherited. I didn't see any pre-made charms that I liked, so he offered to custom make the pendant based on a few sample photos I provided. The end result was absolutely gorgeous, and I couldn't be happier. Turns out he cant guarantee it being water tight because they wont tighten all the screws. Took a quick shower and now I have a water-logged watch that is malfunctioning. I recently I noticed a loose stone in my engagement ring that I needed to have fixed. I called Nuggets&Carrots and explained my situation. The owner told me that if they can just tighten the prong I can be on my way right away but if it's more complicated I would have to leave it so they can spend more time fixing it. (I had just been told by a nearby competitor that it had to be soldered and it was a one week turn around) This jeweler said it could not be soldered because the spring inside the clasp couldn't handle the heat. He has repaired several bracelets for me and he has also reset my diamond earrings for me in "martini" settings to give a larger, shallow look on the ear. Today I came in to get a bracelet shortened and my clasps checked out. He cut my bracelet for me and tightened the clasp on a diamond bracelet for me, all while smiling and being ever so sweet (per usual). Came in today after talking to Sam on Saturday afternoon. I've not taken my rings off for years and after gaining some COVID weight and dealing with general inflammation, I could not get my rings off of my fingers at all and they were digging into my fingers and causing me pain. Sam cut them off for me, no charge, and seemed actually happy to do it! I've had other jewelers tell me because there is resin and natural stone (turquoise) that isn't a diamond or others like diamonds, that the resizing process would be costly and not worth it (they seemed like they felt it was a waste of their time) but Sam assured me he could do it no problem and not damage the stones and resin (over Koa wood) at all. I was so nervous to get them cut off for fear of completely damaging rings that were very important to me and he was awesome and out my mind at ease. I very much recommend them. I left feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders (and my fingers) knowing I could wear them again after my fingers healed.
