My laptop was making awful noises, so I figured I needed a new fan. There are plenty of computer repair shops in Escondido and I called a few, but Ana's customer's service over the phone won me over. I got there and was greeted by her and was informed on the ins and outs on what would be done to my laptop. Very efficient. I took it in on a Friday and it was fixed by Monday. He actually changed both fans, since the other one might go out too. Fantastic! I was lucky though- Dave had an extra set. It was not as expensive as I thought it would be. I appreciate the speedy fix, but I cared more that when I thought I had another issue with the laptop, he was willing to take another look at it for free. Dave is my only go to for computer repair issues. I've been using him for this for over 10 years and I trust him all the time. He makes it look easy, even when I have no idea what the heck he is doing. Another thing about Dave - he gives back to the community with a lot of volunteer work with Kiwanis - which is how I met him. Whenever he sees a need - he wants to give back. A business that I consider a friend - and I have his phone number memorized. The only downside of him is that he is from Boston - so he can be a little difficult to understand when he talks fast. Dave was absolutely amazing!!!! The server at the dental office I work for went out overnight. I called Dave at 8:08am to see if had any availability, and he rushed right over to help. Turns out the server was fried. Dave had a new server tower on hand and was able to get all the information onto that server in about 3 hours. When he brought the new server back we had a technical problem (not his fault). He took that server back to his office and within 2 hours he had everything straightened out and was back at our office and had us up and running. Dave is amazing! It turned out after leaving my Dell laptop with him for a day to review the problem, the problem was with the computer Dell sold me and something that could be fixed- this was later confirmed by Dell. It was suffering from the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" and my limited DOS know-how proved insufficient to the task at hand. I went to work only to find the monitor not working on my desk top computer. Somehow, the monitor had become disconnected from the computer. I connected it and the monitor would not work, I tried other monitors we had and none of them worked. After my Google search, I figured I had a bad video card on the computer and Dave agreed when I called him to schedule an appointment. I walked into Dave's Computer which happened to be around the corner from my work place. He looked at the back on the computer and asked me where I had been plugging the monitor into and I showed him. I needed some computer help so I chose Dave's Service based on his reviews and location. He called me the next day and said that my laptop couldn't be repaired because of some issue with the chip. I was somewhat disappointed but not surprised because of my previous dealings with Microsoft. Anyway, what really caught my attention was that he didn't charge me for the time spent working on my computer. He said that he doesn't charge for something he can't fix! I took my laptop here to have the keyboard replaced. 1. Replacement keyboard number one was bent in addition to being too small. 2. Replacement keyboard number two exactly the same keyboard as number one. still too small. They are unwilling to make this right and have left me with a laptop that is difficult to type on. I was told by Virginia that it was good enough and it could still be used. The labor charge was $60.00 for a 5 minute install. (I waited while they did it). That comes out to $720 per hour. I would say that's a bit on the expensive side. If you're looking for substandard work and want to be treated like you're stupid, this is the place for you. I read the reviews here on Yelp, as I usually do before choosing a service, and the location is nearby so I brought in my fairly new Dell desktop which had quit starting up. The young woman was very helpful, and indicated that my video card may have failed, which proved to be the case. They had a lightly used, relatively high performance card on hand, which she made available to me for less than I would have paid for a new one, and the installation charge was reasonable. The unit now works great again, and I was able to get it that way without spending a lot of money or time (it was ready for me later the same day).
