Asked for a simple JB weld job as I didn't have the JB weld and didn't want to order it and I was…read morewilling to spend $100 bucks to have someone do it. Instead they tried to tell me I need much more expensive repairs. I order the JB weld for $6 and fixed it myself. Now the owner is out $100 and get a bad review for being dishonest. Edit: owner is also a liar trying to defend his dishonesty. I've attached a picture of our conversation in Yelp. Edit 2: oh so you didn't lie about talking to me you just so overwhelmed you couldn't remember all the people that you spoke to which is why you said you didn't speak to me. And you're not dishonest you are incompetent because you had to quote a much more expensive repair instead of doing quick repair. Makes sense considering you are so overwhelmed with business that you would immediately try and push a longer more expensive repair instead of a quick JB weld job. People if you do business with this man you deserve what you get.

Long story short, I dropped my laptop awhile back that caused minor damage where I was able to just…read morepop the pieces back together. Fast forward to about a month ago where I closed my laptop lid and CRACK - something happens where basically the bezel, back over, and hinge gets damaged to the point where it looks like I ripped it apart when I open my laptop back up. Tried to fix it and somehow made it worse by messing up the screen and man, I've done my fair share of taking computers apart before but I wasn't going to mess with my laptop after this series of unfortunate events. Cue Eric! I reached out to a couple of repair guys for a quote and Eric gave me the best one AND the hope that my laptop could be saved (I had a couple others tell me it wasn't worth the fix; mind you, my computer itself worked fine still - I just had to plug in an external monitor to get anything productive done). He was timely with messages, and even let me know that some parts were missing for repair and ordered it for me. His quote was reasonable in comparison to the cost of a brand new laptop and now that I've had it back for a couple weeks; I can honestly say it feels brand new. Appreciate his quickness and his expertise, would definitely come back for any silliness I encounter with computers down the road. Thanks, Eric!

I purchased an open-box laptop from the San Marcos location and specifically asked the associate to reset it before I left. I was told I could reset it myself at home without any issues. Unfortunately, when I got home, the laptop was locked with BitLocker, and I had no access to the recovery key because I was not the previous owner. When I asked for assistance, several associates in the laptop department and another manager named Chris were dismissive and made me feel as though I had done something wrong simply for purchasing a laptop that their store sold to me. I felt judged and treated like I was trying to steal something, even though the problem was caused by incorrect information and an open-box laptop that had not been properly prepared for resale. I was sent to another Best Buy location, where I was told to return to San Marcos. I even purchased a two-year Geek Squad membership and had the laptop reset, but I still did not have access to the BitLocker recovery key, making the laptop essentially unusable. When I returned to San Marcos and spoke with Joe, everything changed. Joe took the time to listen, understand my situation, and acknowledge that what happened was not acceptable. He treated me with dignity and respect, went above and beyond to find a solution, and genuinely made me feel valued as a customer. Joe truly touched my heart with his kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help. I am forever grateful for the way he handled the situation. Best Buy is fortunate to have a manager like him. I took the computer in, and, after determining that the hard drive was no longer good, Ben then proposed a solution, which he worked on fast and efficiently, reassuring me that he was on top of things. But the most eye catching aspect of this business is the personal touch and first rate customer service, patience and communication. Ben takes the time to carefully explain every issue to people...shall we say, far less computer literate than he is. This is a most welcome perk in an age when customer service, courtesy and communication seem to be completely lost on this generation in any given field of business or service. I was panic-stricken because I had work deadlines to meet, so I began a search for help as quickly as possible. Ben at MT Computers in Vista was the first place I reached after leaving messages for several others. He told me not to worry and to bring my laptop over to MT Computers, which I did. After updating me with his plan for a course of action and price estimates, he fixed the problem, updated Windows 10 to Windows 11, and ordered a replacement battery. He returned my laptop to me in less than 24 hours, which I really appreciated, and told me that he would let me know when the replacement battery came it. Meanwhile, I could work on my laptop. The replacement battery came in a few days later, I ran over to his shop, and he replaced the battery in about 10 minutes while I waited. However, the battery would not charge up as it should, so I replaced the power adaptor to rule that out (they're cheap), but still the battery would not charge. When I let Ben know, he ordered another new battery, and installed it. Still the battery would not charge, so he ordered a third battery, this time from another vendor. I ran my laptop over one more time, he replaced the battery again in about 10 minutes, and the third battery was a charm! Ben was very kind, reassuring, pleasant, and patient with me. I highly recommend Ben and MT Computers to anyone in the Vista area in need of prompt and efficient computer servicing with great communication and a smile. Thanks again, Ben and MT Computers . He fixed the issue in a few minutes and wouldn't take a payment because he said it didn't take him long. J & B Computers was recommended to me some years ago and I don't know what I would do without them. They are honest, quick, and they charge VERY fair prices. On top of that, they always take the time to answer every one of my questions, and I tend to have many of them. Jim and Andrew go out of their way to make sure their customers are happy. I am one of those people who know next to nothing about computers, so finding people who have the patience to help me understand, it's priceless to me. I just bought a new computer and had J & B import all of the data from my old computer. Jim and Andrew not only took the time to go over all the new software with me, to make sure I could find my way around the computer, they even took the time to make sure I knew which plug would go where. Yes, I need THAT much help. And they took the time to make sure I would be OK once I was home, on my own, so to speak, with the new computer. How many people/companies do that in this day and age? lately sdge has been having lots of power outages and this time my computer wouldn't power on and this computer powers my cnc machine so with out it I cant run my shop or access my files and I was in big trouble....I took it down to J&B COMPUTER and was greeted by the owner Jim and I explained how important this computer is to my shop...right away he did his very best to see what was wrong and that's when Kevin came to also see what they can do to fix it and before I knew it they had it back up and running and saved my files and got the computer up and running same day! and I was back in business cutting parts!! huge thanks to Jim and Kevin these guys know there stuff about computers and affordable prices. These guys know what they're doing and will 100% try everything they can to fix your pc issue. My experience this past month was that a pc I ordered from a company was not getting into post or displaying anything. After said company ignored multiple emails and support tickets from me, I decided to try J & B; They kept me updated the entire time, troubleshooting was smooth and I didn't feel at all like they weren't trying their hardest to fix my problem. Eventually they discovered through numerous part swaps that it was my graphics card and I had to order another. The WiFi in our restaurant stopped working and it was to a point where I urgently needed to get it fixed. Lucky for me I found J & B on Yelp and, to my amazement, they had someone out to fix the issue within 20 minutes. In fact, they beat me to the restaurant and they already had it fixed by the time I made it there! To top it all off, since they do have a VERY REASONABLE one hour minimum for on-sites, the tech offered to assist with any other issues we were having since the original issue was a quick fix for him. I had my new work lap top which was acting up on me and he fixed that for me as well as cleaning up our office desktop. Talk about honesty and professionalism. I want to give a Big Thank You to the J &B team for again saving me from a major expense. I brought in my Dell laptop to see why it was running so low and making my life difficult during moments when I was using it online for communications with business clients. They did excellent in finding the problem (which was a bad hard drive) and gave me options to repair it. Now I have my laptop back in 3 days and its running newer, faster technology than before. Jim & Andy saved my vacation! I absolutely recommend J & B Computers -- they are professional, prompt, communicative & cost effective. Two weeks in Europe & my photo chip went black while I was looking at pics on the flight back. Took it to J&B Computers Fri a.m. & by 10 a.m. Sat my pics were back! These guys are outstanding. They have 5 software programs between them to work this magic. Before J&B I went to Data Doctors. They tried at their shop & failed. Jim and Kevin at J & B are the best! They have helped me twice in the last year with a Lenovo laptop that was giving me fits. The first time, the motherboard died and they extracted some data so I could keep working while getting the board replaced by Lenovo. The second time, the battery was not being recognized and they diagnosed and fixed the problem the same day. I just went to have my Dad's computer fixed. They fixed it on the spot. They immediately opened it up and realized the power supply was out. They said $60 for a top of the line 500W power supply and only charged me $20 for installation. They also found the sound driver for the motherboard and installed it as well. They cleaned the internals so no dust and organized all the cords inside so it would get the best air flow. Very reasonable and honest group of guys. Thank God they are located in San Marcos. I was very impressed with the quality of service as well as the price from Andrew and Jim. They were very friendly yet professional. One of my hard drives was repaired by them the next day, the second (iMac) was determined to be too costly to make it worth fixing, however Andrew shared with me a great resource to buy a quality second hand desktop including a warranty (unlike Craigslist) at an affordable price. My laptop died one day and I took it into J&B. They got it running again for only $20 while I waited. My Windows Vista later crapped out and I had to have Windows 7 installed. Great work by J&B for a very reasonable price. All of my old data and some programs were transferred to Win 7. This is the best computer service that I have found in SD North County. This is without a doubt the best option for computer repair in san marcos they are extremely skilled and professional. They will diagnose your problem for free and even if you don't get it fixed by them there is no cost to you. But why go anywhere else? They are very professional, friendly, and helpful. Don't go to Frys (two weeks) or Geek Squad ($100 to tell you they can't fix it). These guys diagnose for free! read more

On November 14, 2025, I hired Todd to set up my new Personal Computer (PC) that I purchased that day from Costco in Vista, CA. In addition to the initial Computer Set-Up for $50.00 Todd stated that additional work was needed, such as the following, to have the PC working properly. "TRANSFER DATA FROM OLD PC TO NEW PC, FORMAT OLD DRIVE, SETUP ONE DRIVE ON NEW PC and SETUP LOCAL BACKUPS" all for $200. I approved the additional work to have a working PC. After he left my residence, I started the computer and found that he did not complete the additional work assignments and called him and requested that he return to my home. He said he would return the next day. On November 15, 2025, TODD WAS NO SHOW. I called Todd 760-643-1227 Todd several times with no answer and left several messages. I later called him from a different phone number and he answered. Todd stated that he would refuse to return to my home and only wanted me to allow him to work on my computer "REMOTELY" which would allow him full and complete access to my Personal, Business and Confidential information. I refused to allow his REMOTE services and again requested that he return and complete his services or a refund of $200 Rather than discuss the issue, he HUNG UP THE PHONE. As of January 11, 2026, (the date of this post) Todd has refused to cooperate and or return and complete the work assignment or return my money. I contacted the Fraud Unit at my Credit Card Company and filed a Fraud Complaint. I searched the San Diego County Superior Court Records and found several cases where Todd Martin had been involved in several questionable cases involving Real Estate Realtors, Automobile Dealers and assorted criminal Fraud cases.
