This was my first time trying this little eatery. I'd passed by it many times, but never stopped. Typically, when I visit a restaurant, I ask the host/waiter what is recommended or most popular. I was told I couldn't go wrong with the meatball sub or the Philly cheesesteak sub. I went with the Philly. It was awesome! The flavor was nice and it was cooked really well. This place was awful. I got a daves original (or whatever #1 was) and it was terrible. It says it comes "smothered in sauce" but it was the driest sandwich ive ever paid to eat. The bread was stale and there was no sauce. Then when i asked for sauce on the side, they charged me extra. (Its already not overly cheap for a sandwich place.) Then the sauce tasted like bad caeser dressing. My running theory is they ran out of the real sauce and instead of just telling us gave us caeser. Otherwise the "famous sauce" is just gross ceaser. I honestly dont know what would be worse. The toppings are sparse for what the sandwich is, except for a bunch of shredded pizza cheese that is not good. Assuming they didnt lie about the sauce then charge us for it, service was "ok". If they did, then obviously thats bad. For ambiance, its a sandwich shop. This place ROCKS! I went here with 3 other pals before a long drive and this place provided the perfect road trip meal. I got the "Dave's Best Club" and it lived up to expectations. The special sauce? STOP THAT DAVE (ok keep it coming) My girlfriend doesn't even like sandwiches that much and she LOVED it! She got the meatball sub and boy oh boy was she impressed. She said, "This whole thing is basically meatball!" I told my parents about the sandwich I got and they were super happy for me. My mom had just smoked a full bowl so her co-signing of my sandwich wasn't as genuine as I thought at first. It's not her fault. She recently had a hip surgery and has been down in the dumps a little bit about it. "Wobble wobble wobble" that's what we say when she walks by on her unstable hip. Had high hopes but was kinda disappointed when I left. The sandwich had potential but missed the mark. Ordered the #1, their flagship sub and it was really dry and really small. Disappointing. :( The bread was perfectly toasted which was awesome, the ingredients seemed pretty standard of what you would find at any deli sandwich place. Had a tasty pickle spear that came with the sandwich but for $10 (sandwich only), it was dry and too small. I wish there were different sandwich size options. I walked away still hungry. On the menu it says there's Dave's cosmic sauce on it which I was really excited to try but the sandwich was so dry that I had to question the staff if there was any sauce on the sandwich. They confirmed yes, so that was disappointing. The ingredient combo on the sandwich was tasty so it definitely has potential, but I feel they missed the mark. Needs way more sauce and to be larger/thicker and or have more/larger sandwich options. :) sorry guys, I wanted to like it, but it just didn't do it for me. Dave's Cosmic Subs is absolutely slammin'! I could end the review there, because really they are, in every way, but here's a little more detail: -The flavors in their subs meld so well. Despite the vast array of offerings, it seems like great detail went into making each sandwich unique. -There's a ton of variety. At this point, I've tried 6 or so of their different sandwiches, including the meatball, famous bleu, world famous, original, and peace steak. They are all incredibly tasty! -Dave's doesn't skimp on toppings, including meat, cheese, and sauce. -The special sauce dresses up many of their subs, and while at first I was skeptical of how it would taste on very different types of sandwiches, I leave satisfied every time. -The price is reasonable; this is across the street from a Panera, where you could easily spend several dollars more on a sandwich. The biggest downside is the space itself; it's pretty no frills, so definitely not a first or second date type of place. However, if it's not busy, you could find a seat with a small group, so I wouldn't write off dining in completely, unless it's summer time, then definitely take the sandwich to go, as the patio, while enclosed, is not air conditioned. It takes about 10 minutes to get your sandwich too, so make sure to plan accordingly! read more

Hate to, and seldom post a negative review but I am totally disappointed. Paid $12.49 +tax/tip for a corned beef sandwich to go. Got it home and found it to be about a half inch of tough corned beef on a regular size loaf rye bread. I know times are tough for restaurants but I can pay this price elsewhere and get a real corned beef experience. Will go elsewhere for my next sandwich or sub purchase. read more

Had it years ago and it was pretty solid. 3 stars because today I called at 5:15 to put an order in 45 minutes before close and got no answer so drove 15 minutes to order in person. At 5:35 walked up and they said they weren't taking new orders despite 3 people in the restaurant at the time total. That's 25 minutes before they were closing. I get it, it's Sunday and you want to close but if you don't want people ordering on a Sunday close to your closing time and want to go home then change your hours to 5 pm and don't post that you are really open to 6 if you stop taking orders that early. read more

SO GOOD! This is definitely a hole-in-the wall style restaurant with great food. I used to go all the time after school and now I'm back in school in the area and couldn't be more thrilled to get to go again. (I live in Sandy Springs so it's quite the drive!) To start off, i would like to say that dave's cosmic subs are by FAR the best subs that i have ever had in my life. in my personal opinion, #13 turkey dave is the best and all their subs overall are so delicious when served hot, especially in cold weather, when i visit dave's often. all of the subs are made fresh and it is easy to know when yours is ready because they use buzzers to tell you when to pick up your sub. they have good music and tvs that have sports on inside their patio. 100% recommended read more

Don't judge a book by its cover bc the inside of their sandwiches are oh so yummy. I'm not a fan of cold subs, but the original Dave's Cosmic sub blown me away. The significant other and I decided to share a large, which is composed of two sandwiches. We were def full by the end of it all. It was quite expensive though at about $12 when said and done. I liked how the bread was slightly toasted and overstuffed with cold meats and lots of shredded cheese. Though I liked the excess amount of cheese, battling to keep it in the sandwich was another story. The spread they used in the sandwich also added a nice touch. Don't forget to eat the pickle that they sort of roll in the paper with the sandwich. There were some tables and chairs, but don't bring a large group here. This is a good to-go place. We ate here for lunch today and got the #1 toasted and the #28 not toasted. Decent Italian subs for Atlanta area, but not not really up to par with those you'd get up in the northeast and NY/NJ. Kind of expensive when compared to what we could get back home. Inside the ordering area. and the plastic outdoor walls definitely need a good cleaning. I have heard raving reviews about this place, and I was able to have the opportunity to give this place a try. The sandwiches here are quite delicious, and the bread is made just right so that it melts in your mouth almost. The food did take quite awhile to come out, so I wouldn't recommend if you're in a rush. There's also very limited seating as well. The restaurant itself is small, but I would say it is a nice and casual atmosphere. You order your food, and you come back to pick it up with your buzzer. I have this thing for meatball subs so I binge on them sometimes. Only sandwich I get for a while and I'll get them often. I was wondering today if I'd found my favorite yet and I couldn't said I had but that was before I finally ordered from Dave's. Omg it was delicious! So full of flavor and meatballs just the right texture and size. It had just a slight kick in it too, I like spice but I'm a wuss and can't take much but this I liked. Not something I could eat in public because it was so messy (makes it even better) but that's ok it was an easy delivery order via Door Dash. I'm not sure I'll be able to try any if their other items because I'll be stuck on the meatball sub. If you're going for the dine in I can tell you it's a little ecliptic place right off the Emory campus. They don't ever appear to be super busy but the traffic around can get hectic at times. Went in, made my order and then waited about 15 minutes for my 2 sandwiches. Dave's far out Chicken sandwich was so spicy as constructed that you couldn't actually taste anything else. Dave's way did come with three different types of cheese. Final verdict was that it was a sloppy, sloppy sandwich. I had to take a shower after eating it. Setting: they modeled it sort of like a small hole-in-the-wall joint. Dining takes place in the patio area, which might suck if it's too hot or too cold out. For me it was really warm out and the fans didn't really do too much for me. It doesn't look like they wipe down the tables and seats too often. Some of the chairs out had some water leftover from the rain earlier on the day. Might make a clean-freak feel uncomfortable. Food: food was great! Had Dave's Original Garden Burger. It was spicy and loaded with cheese. It came on a banh mi/French bread bun. Strong flavor profile, the savory food and meaty texture of the vegetarian patty was well cut with the lettuce and tomato. Fun place to try, but the meals tend to be on the heavy and greasy side (which is great if that's what you like)! Service: super friendly service, also pretty fast. Cost: ~$8 a sandwich. read more
