This place is amazing. It is in a strip mall with limited parking. The outside is deceiving. Once you come inside, the store looks small with only a few tables for seating (maybe 12 seats) but the stairs leave you down to a huge bar with TVs, games, and plenty of seating. Also, they purchased the business besides them so they have a bar area upstairs as well. This place is huge. I sat at the new section and was pleasantly surprised that it is set up like a sports bar. We asked to sit upstairs where it was quieter, only to be told the menu was limited up there, so we got escorted to the basement, which had all the energy of a frat party I aged out of years ago. After looking at the menu I ordered the small fried shrimp po boy with fries, my wife the crawfish basket, and niece the half and half with fries. We decided to share a bowl of corn, sausage, and shrimp chowder. Everything arrived in about five minutes. Everyone enjoyed the chowder. My shrimp was fully dressed and delicious. I've visited this place a few times this year and each time I feel like it gets better! Their po boys are the best in Atlanta in my opinion. It's hard finding a po boy that has a good seafood:bread ratio and they've mastered it. This time I decided to branch out and try something different and ordered a brunch item - crawfish etouffee omelette. Highly recommend!! I also tried the jambalaya for the first time and it was also superb. They recently expanded their dining area as well and taken over the place next door. Before, they only had a small space for dining upstairs and the dive bar was downstairs making it not the most ideal place for kids. But since they've expanded, they now have additional seating upstairs which is much more family friendly. The prices are also very reasonable especially for such good quality food! read more

Truly my favorite restaurant in Decatur. I've tried almost all the Po'Boys here and they are all really good. I'd say the alligator Po'boy is my favorite. For drinks I always get the 22oz purple voodoo. It's a great deal, really strong, tastes great, and you get to keep the souvenir cup. The lighting in the basement bar provides such a fun ambiance to the place. They also have a pool table, darts, and some arcade games to play on. They also have enough TVs that no matter where you are sitting you'll be able to see all the games that are on. It's a great spot for a date or even just to get your friends together. I've also been here several times and have never had any problems with a waiter. Everyone who works there seems really nice. First off, I am a natural born and bred Cajun being born and raised in Southwest Louisiana in the heart of Cajun country! I am from a town so small it's not even on most maps! I grew up with all the natural cooking as there were not many stores around, so your meals were made from what was available but even then, still super delicious true Cajun food! New Orleans is not Cajun food its Creole food (now they do serve both styles but if you know the difference then you know Cajun and Creole are very different! 2. Most people just think make it super spicy and call it Cajun which is so far from the truth! Cajun has a deep earthy flavor with a slow burn that comes on a little at a time. Not put in your mouth and your mouth explodes with cayenne pepper or tabasco sauce! My wife and I ate here yesterday on 8/15 around 5pm on a recommendation from others! (Non Cajuns) Here are my reasons why I rated it as I did! Pros: 1. We were seated very quickly even though it was crowded! 2. Wait staff very friendly! 3. Pretty good menu of both drinks and food! 4. Food actually came pretty quick again even though being busy! 5. Order was perfect to what we ordered! 6. Perfect food temperature! 7. Fries were tasty! 8. Fried shrimp was excellent! Every crawfish season, I somehow find myself back at The Po Boy Shop in Decatur, and every time, I know I am likely signing up for inattentive service. Still, for the sake of crawfish on a Thursday, I give it another try. The setup is pretty much open seating, so you squeeze in where you can, which is fine. I was greeted promptly when I came in, but after being seated, that was about the last I saw of my server. I understand that the staff may help each other out, but no one really stopped by to check in, refill drinks, or make sure everything was going well. As for the crawfish, this first boil of the season was disappointing. They were mediocre at best and noticeably overcooked. Quite a few were already dead, so I did not eat those. The standout, as always, was the corn. The corn and the sides continue to be the best part of the bowl and were easily more enjoyable than the crawfish themselves. I am hoping this was just an off day because I may give them one more chance this season, but this visit did not leave much of an impression in a good way. So some of my favorite food is Cajun and someone put me onto this spot. The front part of the shop is a regular storefront. It looks like a carryout type of situation. There's free parking so you'll come in and park and walk in the front and order and wait for your food or sit at the tables that they give. It also has a "hidden" bar, which is something that I gravitate toward on a regular. The downstairs basement area is about at least 10 times bigger than the upstairs part. Coming in. Looking to your left, you see a door that leaves downstairs and there's signs that say the basement. So it's not something that you are looking at straight away but you really can't miss it. The top floor has a few seats, inside and outside, but space is very limited. Maybe only like 5 tables on the inside. The basement has tons of seating, pool tables, TVs, and mad space. You can order food in the basement area if you would like to, they'll give you a number and you'll sit at the table. You can order from the bar, watch some TV, or play pool. It's much more lively. Just to know, there's also a back entrance that goes straight to the basement bar versus going to the front entrance and walking downstairs. So there's parking on both sides that's also free so just keep that in mind. If you come around the back of the building, you can still go in. Crystal wings - I thought the wings were okay. They really want fried as hard as I would like they were definitely seasoned. Well and very meaty. If they fried them with a little more time in the fryer, they would come out a little more gold and crispy and they would have been great. You get a choice of ranch or blue cheese and you get celery with it as well. Boudin balls - Now these were actually really good and they were exactly fried to perfection. It came with a spicy mustard sauce, but she added a little extra kick to it but the flavor was really good. The texture was really good. They were very crispy and full of meat. You get about a handful of them, but they were actually a really nice size as well. I would get these again. Half and half po boy - So I got the sandwich that had oyster and shrimp. Both of them were fried and it came with a remoulade sauce and lettuce and tomatoes. The sandwiches are really good size, you only need one of the regular size sandwiches. You should be good to go. Everything was flavorful and tasty. I would love to try more of their sandwiches but I don't have any issue with the sandwich that I got! French fries - was it really overwhelmed by the french fries. They were like steak fries cut very flat. Nothing special, I probably would need to get the fries again on my next order. Overall, this spot definitely asked some things that I want to try. But what I've had has been really good already. So think of it as a sports bar setting in the basement. So I enjoyed all of that and look forward to more of what they have to offer. read more

The atmosphere was very laid back and exactly what I was looking for on a Wednesday night. We ordered fried prickles and Cajun meat pies for our appetizers and they were amazing! We also ordered a shrimp po'boy and a crawfish po'boy (both with sides of fries). The remoulade sauce is spicy (if you have digestive/inflammation issues like me, do NOT risk it because they unfortunately do not have a mild version). The fries were surprisingly great! I was nervous because of the shape but they somehow worked. I also had a cut of the bread pudding which was great but was on the heater/hot plate a little too long because the top part was a little dried out while the inside was super warm and moist.
