Chicken is often hard on delivery otherwise it tastes like mush of 2000's wedding chicken - they nailed it. Tossed in a veggie tray with hummus that was packed full and fresh. The last couple times I ate lunch there it was much better than today. I had the chicken tenders & fries (same as last time) but the tenders were a joke. Kid-size portions today when last time they were each twice the length. And they were overcooked. If I didn't have honey mustard to dip them in, I don't think I would have been able to eat them. The fries were good though & they give you a lot. For $10.50, you need to offer adult-size chicken tenders. I wish I had taken a picture. Despite this, I will return since I work nearby. I will for sure never get the tenders again. I think a quesadilla or a sandwich would be a safer bet. Although my coworker got a chicken quesadilla today & said the chicken was dry. This was supposed to be an upscale deli and I could not disagree more. The driver was rude and dressed in ripped jeans. There was no ice, no extra napkins, the tea was hot and the cups are for a small child. The cookies were raw. Some of the boxes didn't have silverware so they couldn't eat the tiny portion of pasta salad. The sandwiches were wrapped in Saran Wrap vs a nice paper wrapped sandwich. Seems that they were made the night before and they are soggy. I thought this place would be a step above Jason's deli but we were disappointed. Jason's is many steps above this place. If I could give less than one star I would. I work in midtown and the area has lots of options when it comes to restaurants but I chose to come here. My favorite breakfast item is a bowl of grits because they are phenomenal. I buy them as often as I can. This morning however I ordered a bowl and I was told that the manager won't let them sell it by the bowl anymore that I have to buy a cup and they would charge me the same price as the bowl for a much smaller portion. Who in their right mind would buy a cup of grits for $6.00. Since the restaurant reopened a few months ago the quality of the food and the customer service has gone down hill. I understand at lunch time it is sometimes extremely business and I understand the wait sometimes. My issue is breakfast. I came down at 8:05am to get breakfast and it was closed. I waited another 5 minutes and then I was told there was no cashier and to come back in 20 minutes. This is the 2nd time that this has happened. Honestly, Carolyn's is somewhere around a 2.5. I entered from the back entrance, so the first thing I saw was the counter and an un-manned register. Walking towards the front, I spotted what looked like menus and went to grab one, only to have a guy tell me that was for catering. Regular menu is 'up there' (meaning on the board above the spot where you order) or the printed sheet of paper with really little printing. I decided on their version of a Reuben (which I think is called the Conqueror). Ordered my sandwich, selected potato salad as my side, reached for my wallet and was told to meet the guy 'down this way' .. at the un-manned register. Not a bad experience .. just kinda weird and a little like maybe newbies are a pain in the ass or something. I grabbed a seat while waiting for my food and was annoyed to find that the table was sticky. You know that kind of sticky that comes from years of being wiped down, but never really cleaned? Yeah .. like that. I reached over to see if the table next to me was the same way, and it was. No sense moving around if all the tables are the kind you really don't want to touch. (I'm not saying the place is dirty .. it wasn't .. I just have a thing about tables that are tacky in that way.) The sandwich was okay. Nothing spectacular. If I were to get it again, I'd leave off the spicy mustard which completely overwhelmed all the other flavors. The potato salad was okay as well, but I think I counted a grand total of 6 cubes of potatoes. (Your side comes in one of those little plastic cups most places use for you to self-serve your catsup.) Wow. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and never thought to try it. But that changed when my friend and I were looking for a quick lunch. Carolyn's is pretty good! (And they're pretty quick.) I had a personal-sized cheese pizza. It was filling, and simple, and good. Plenty of hot, melty cheese. There's healthy stuff on the menu too, like salads and wraps. (There are also regular specials in case you get a wild hair or something.) And there are lots of hungry corporate folks who come in to enjoy it. This place gets busy quick. While they're there, the corporates might also grab a whoopie pie. I did not grab a whoopie pie. I figured a single-sized cheese pizza was bad enough for me. But if you get a whoopie pie, please tell me how it is, so I can live vicariously through your experiences. Carolyn's also has a bar. I did not have a drink at Carolyn's. But I could have. For the most part Carolyn's is a pretty solid lunch option. I do miss the old location where they were able to have a full bar and curly fries were always on the menu. My only issue is the bleu cheese, someone here must love it because they put it on EVERYTHING it seems like, and in a greater quantity than I think most would deem as necessary. Made a return visit to Carolyn's last week to meet another friend who works nearby. Definitely a step up from my initial visit! We went right in smack lunch hour and still got quick service. I went for a different sandwich this time, the Determination, and it was great! Toasted bread, grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, mayo with melted provolone. Very generous size. My friend had picked it off the menu, and I followed his lead - definitely pleased! I love how their sandwiches have names like "Determination," "Positive Attitude" ( which is next on my list to try - ham, turkey, swiss, bacon, multiple slices of bread and honey mustard - sounds yum!), and the like. Sandwiches come with your choice of side (pasta salad, etc) or you can add chips ($0.50) or fries ($1.50). Parking is kind of a pain- the lot in back is awfully tight, but then again it is at the corner of 14th St and W. Peachtree, so what else would you expect?! I found this place when looking for inexpensive places in mid-town. The free taco bar with purchase of a pint caught my eye. I am really glad I checked it out. There is a great ambiance between the exposed brick walls, ceiling and bar. I was surprised that there weren't more people there on a Thursday, but we were there pretty early. The taco bar is open from 5 to 6:30. The tacos were very simple: shell, meat, cheese, sour cream and chips and salsa. But they were good and they were free! It's nice to find a place that gives its patrons a little bonus. Our waiter was on and off in his attentiveness. Sometimes he came by a lot, but he was hard to find when we actually needed him. The reason I gave four stars instead of five is because they took up the taco bar about 20 minutes early. Maybe they only make a certain amount and that's it, but that's not what their sign said. Great lunch place in midtown! I was taken here for lunch on my first day of work (I work in the Regions plaza building across the street) and I have ordered it almost once a week since then. I've had a variety of sandwiches but their best thing is their quesadillas. I normally get the classic chicken, but have also had the buffalo chicken (which if you are a buffalo/blue cheese fan - 100% order this). I usually order it online, wait five minutes, and walk down and get it and it's hot and ready, sitting and waiting for me in their to-go cubbies along the wall. It is served with chips, salsa, and sour cream. It is a large portion too, so sometimes I have left overs. The menu is a little bit basic, but is really good for a cafe and the location/proximity to work cannot be beaten. read more

I work in this building, so I've been to Carolyn's quite a few times for lunch and feel underwhelmed each time. Though I would return, the main reason is convenience and not wanting to go outside when it's cold! I've gotten their seasonal loaded potato soup (no good, it's watery and gritty instead of creamy and rich), meatball sub (not bad but the meatballs needed a lot more flavor), and buffalo chicken quesadilla (pretty good though lacking in hot sauce, mostly tastes like plain chicken and blue cheese). On the plus side, their dishes are generally cooked well, they are just lacking in the flavor department. Service is very fast, even during the lunch rush, and there is a good amount of seating. Pricing for the portion size (which is about right size for a hearty lunch) is about what you would expect for midtown. read more

I rate this spot a 4 because it is very convenient restaurant for lunch breaks. I always order the High Energy (tuna melt) and it is fantastic. The portion size and the preparation of the sandwich is great. Pricing is also convenient, as other restaurants are slightly more expensive in the area for the same options. All was fine at this place until something happened that wasn't addressed... We're hungover. We need food. We drive by and decide to pull in and get our fix. We take a seat at the bar and watch football as we're hydrating ourselves with water. I order nachos. My buddy gets a burger. The food is decent. I'm eating away... Then, I notice this oh so bitty spider crawling around my plate on the bar. It's the same color as the bar paint and soon it disappears. For lunch or dinner, their atmosphere is laid back and their food is good, too. Personal pizzas, great sandwiches, and salads all with great variety. At lunch you do counter service and they bring out the food. They have a great system that gets you in and out so you can enjoy your lunch and not worry about returning to work on time. At dinner, they have a wait staff. We were there for Trivia night and there was a fun crowd and did not affect the quality or timeliness of getting our food. I use them most when I have lunch presentations. When people do lunch presentations, they always use the same chains and my clients find it refreshing to bring a boxed lunch that is a little different and not from a corporate giant. They are always friendly and have my order on time... even when I am not. The only thing that I would change is their soft drink cups. They have personal pizzas, tasty sandwhiches, and all you can eat buffalo wings on one of the nights. Unfortunately, I can't remember which night. They also do trivia...like EVERYONE else. Anyway, the point is that Carolyn's is a hidden gem in Atlanta. It's cozy, has an SEC college town feel inside, but sits in the Heart of Midtown at W. Peachtree and Fourteenth. I discovered Carolyn's thanks to a former colleague. We were on our way back to the office from a client meeting and he suggested we stop for a quick bite. I'd never before noticed this restaurant tucked away in between several businesses on the corner of Peachtree and 14th Street, but I'm so glad we went in. The atmosphere was what struck me first. Since we went during the work week, the place was full of people on their lunch break, but not so packed we couldn't get a seat. Patrons can belly up to the bar, or order their meals from the counter and have them brought out to the table. The menu boasts a variety of great foods to choose from with fun names to boot! From sandwiches with names like Motivation (hot turkey and swiss with cole slaw and thousand island dressing on pumpernickle) to Commitment to Excellence (a BLT with blue cheese), you can't help but feel good about your choice. You can also find quesadillas, burgers, salads, pizzas and wraps. Truly something for everyone! If you are looking for dinner or a great place for happy hour, you can find some great deals, including a free pizza bar on Fridays between 5-6:30 p.m. with a drink from the bar. Not bad. Not the best, but not bad. I met up with a couple friends here and am feeling fortunate that I had a coupon to use. Somehow I don't feel like bar food should cost $23 with tax, and for the record, we did not order an appetizer. I was also a little put off that in an effort to be gourmet and not a bar, french fries are considered a $1.50 substitution and a salad a $2.25 substitution. There's no way that french fries cost more than potato salad, and I'm pretty sure that salad is not more than any of the side items. Still, my fish and chips wasn't bad and the french fries were excellent (thankfully mine came for free with my meal, whew). The tarter sauce was odd, though. I'm not a big tarter fan, but sometimes it's a nice addition. This was super spicy, though. It's a sandwich shop, not a Thai chili-eating contest... I did add on a side salad, which was perfectly fine for a salad. Seemed fresh, crispy lettuce, lots of toppings, was a decent salad. I didn't get a pizza, but I couldn't believe my friend's was $6.99 when it was barely equal to two slices, but it looked pretty good. I think mostly I was floored by the cost here. I'm all about a good sandwich or some bar food, but I don't want to pay a premium for it. While I'm sure I'll be back once in a while to try some of the other sandwiches that looked good, I probably won't be able to do it without a coupon. The most imaginative thing about the menu are the names it gives its sandwiches. So the vast majority of reviews written for this cafe are from when the restaurant used to be a standalone place and featured a bar. That is no longer the case. The old location was demolished, and effective around January 2015, Carolyn's is now the cafeteria for the One Atlantic Center building, so keep that in mind when reading reviews before then- they are all from when the restaurant was drastically different. It is located in the bottom of the building so you just take the escalator down and round the corner. They do not serve alcohol anymore and are open only until 3 PM, Monday through Friday. They have a grab and go cooler right at the entrance where you can get a salad or a simple sandwich if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, you order at the counter. The food is pretty decent, and they have a pretty broad menu including quesadillas, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. They have a rotating weekly special. Most of my coworkers go here at least once a week, so it's a reliable source for lunch. There is a lot of seating in the restaurant area and outside in the 1AC plaza there are some benches you could sit at if you prefer to eat outdoors. It's a nice lunch option if you're already in the area- but not a place you should probably travel to. read more

Great place for Georgia Gamecocks! I came here to watch the SEC Championship with the Carolina Alumni Club of Atlanta. I was shocked by the Cocky-ness of it all! The name and website are in no way indicative of the venue itself. It's awesome and sporty, not at all what I was expecting. Great exposed brick, garage doors (was this once a mechanic's garage)? To top it off, Gamecock flags on the wall, South Carolina state flag hanging from the exposed-duct ceiling and our national baseball championship banner above the bar. Even the bartenders, bussers and servers had on Gamecock gear. I can't speak to the atmosphere during the week, but if you miss Columbia any given Saturday, I'm sure this place would feel like a piece of home. I work across the street from here and whenever I come here for lunch, I see half my office. I knew it was just a matter of time until I found a go-to lunch. It took three or four tries but I finally found my favorite sandwich here - the high-energy (on wheat instead of multi-grain) - a totally delicious tuna melt with just a teensy bit of mayo. It's a good spot for a quick lunch if you work in Midtown and as a bonus, the employees are nice and have a sense of humor. I always wind up laughing when I come here ... and word on the street is that they have a good happy hour too. My only complaint is that the fruit salad is kind of hit-or-miss. When it's warm enough, I love sitting on the patio outside or inside near one of the street-facing sides that they can open up. Food comes pretty quickly, even when there's a crowd. Our friends had the fish & chips and a reuben sandwich. Neither of them thought it was especially gourmet either. So, I suggest a name change: to Caroline's Cafe. Not Gourmet. Not Exotic Cuisine. Not anything other than Cafe. The beer selection leaves a lot to be desired. Bud, Budweiser, and, mercifully, Sweetwater 420. Basically, unless there was something I missed, this is a neighborhood bar with bar food. And it cost $ 35 + tip for two people to eat here. Too much for the quality of the food. I really, really, really like this place!! The service is awesome! I especially love the free pizza bar on Friday nights and taco bar on Thurs nights.
