I love spicy. I have at least half a dozen hot sauces available at home, but lately I've been wondering if it's possible to burn out or destroy whatever tastebuds are responsible for detecting spice. Only two of my hot sauces give me that satisfying tingle, and both of them are labeled like triple x or something that suggests they should blow your socks off. They don't. We've been driving past Dave's Hot Chicken since it opened, as one of Jeremy's best friends lives in Pasadena. And I've been curious how it compares to Hangry Joe's (which I LOVE). We finally had the chance to try Dave's Hot Chicken yesterday while we were on our way to a job for Jeremy's new mobile auto repair business. And it was INCREDIBLE. You can choose your spice level. I went with HOT, which is in the middle of the scale, and they weren't kidding. It was actually hot! My faith in my tastebuds was restored! I was ever-so-grateful for the cooling power of Dave's Sauce (which is basically a delicious yumyum sauce) and the coleslaw. Im not a fan of dill pickles, but Jeremy happily devoured mine. I was visiting a friend in Glen Burnie and was craving a chicken sandwich. I love me some Dave's hot chicken so i was excited to see there was one nearby. I placed my order online before arrival, that went smooth. I pulled in the parking lot found a spot in front of the store... Yay!! Get inside the store and it wasn't crowded at all, I noticed they had a board showing the order ready number- - - that was new. Don't think i've seen that in the other store i've been in. Once my number pops up I go to get my food from the counter. The customer service was good the associate handed me my food, and told me to have a great day. Once I got to sit down and eat my food, I noticed that the tender was shorter and thinner than usual. my sandwich didn't even feel the same weight as it normally does when I visit Dave's. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't what I expected. Also, my fries were a bit dried out and they all seemed to be kind of short and thin as well, I did not have one long fry that i could bite off twice. All of them were bite size pieces. Right off the bat the food is good, but it's expensive. For a Dave's #1 meal with a drink and subbed cheese fries it was a little over $16. Combos dont include a drink, and the cheese fries cost extra. Without the cheese fries and the drink it probably would've been about $12 give or take. I got mild tenders. They were crispy and pretty big, a little dry though. The seasoning on the tenders is good and the fries are crispy and have the same seasoning on them The mild was not spicy at all. I didn't feel it like I normally do when eating mild wings, but that's not to say that it was bad. It's totally something anyone could handle and it has a decent flavor. They have their own Dave's sauce it's pretty good. It's reminds me of a barbecue sauce with a little bit of honey mustard. Service was friendly. It's opening day, so the wait was to be expected. The food was super yummy! I enjoyed trying a new type of chicken sandwich that gave some spice. We got the medium but my friend went the next day and got hot and said it was spicy so definitely choose the best spice to your liking. The customer service was amazing. When I finally did, I ordered a hot slider with 2 hot tenders and blue Powerade icee. Spicy is too hot for me but it was so freaking good. Never have I eaten something that had me burning up and I had brain freeze at the same time from the drink . I was laughing the whole time, but the food was so good. Me and my son went for the very first time and we did not have a good experience at all. My son ordered an extra hot chicken sliders and it was very over seasoned and too spicy to enjoy. The way it was worded on the menu made it seem like the sauce would be spicy, not the chicken itself. My son tried to eat as much as he could of it, I tasted it as well and it didn't taste good at all. So I kindly went up to the front and asked the lady at the register if she could replace one of the sliders, that he hasn't touched, with a milder one. I told her it was over seasoned and too spicy to enjoy. She seemed a little weird about it and kept questioning me and was starting to make me feel uncomfortable. Eventually, she brings the food to the back of the kitchen and starts explaining the situation to the cooks. All the cooks started looking at me and laughing. So I told them it's for my son like whats the big deal. The lady brings the sandwich to me and I asked her why they looked at me and laughed. She had a heavy accent so I couldn't make out everything she said and it was packed so I wasn't trying to make a scene with my son there. Worst customer service I've ever seen.
