    4/20/2025 Today's lunch !!

This place is always a must stop when in the area. Great food selection, yum seasonal beverages, clean dining area, and great service. This place has been a food court gem. They are certainly one of hubby and I favs. They have sandwiches, wraps, charbroiled chicken, amazing sides, etc. I highly recommend this place!!

My girlfriend's salad bowl, which she liked but wasn't tons of food.

Representing 2024 in alphabet series, N is for Nando's. I had been to the Nando's Arundel Mills location a few times prior to 2024 and a few times with my girlfriend in 2024 & 2025. Food is great like the other locations. Every time I go to this location, their scanner doesn't work to get the points. So, they tell me to scan the receipt, which is a hassle, and you have to remember to do that. I had some issue relating to rewards and spoke with the manager, who was nice. I believe it was using my birthday deal, and she tried with the scanner to no avail. She gave me the meal on the house, which was unexpected. That day in winter 2024, this Nando's was my favorite and would've gotten 5-stars. Last time my girlfriend & I were here was on 12/9/25. To be fair, I didn't want to overeat, and getting 1/2 chicken with 2 sides can be a weight gain for me, and my weight was inflated in general in December 2025 due to the holidays. We went for a somewhat early dinner around 5:30 as we had an advanced movie screening at Egyptian Cinemark. I got the 1/4 chicken white with Brussel sprouts (which is always $2 upcharge) and Peri-Peri chips (Nando's fancy way of saying fries). I wish I took a pic of the December 9, 2025 chicken here, but I went only 9 days later to the Laurel location on 12/18 as I had points expiring and needed to use points relatively soon before they went away, and there was a decent amount of meat on the 1/4 chicken as I did sent a pic to my girlfriend from the Laurel location. The chicken at Hanover maybe had about 1/2 the amount of meat as it should have, which the Laurel location was about right and was the right amount of chicken per 1/4 piece in my picture from March 2024 attached of this location then. I was complaining to my girlfriend about this nonsense some of our time here; put me in a worse mood. Also, the Brussel sprouts were in a smaller container, and I'm paying an extra $2 upcharge to get a smaller container. The normal amount of fries, which isn't a ton of fries. I told my g/f I hate to say it, I'm still kind of hungry and kept mentioning possibly going to Yogurt Mountain. I certainly wasn't going to reward Nando's with being more food or dessert there. We ended up going to Yogurt Mountain, which was delicious, but I didn't really want to supplement my lacking meal with sugary dessert when weight was already up in December, not to mention extra cost. The same nice manager who was helpful in early 2024 came around to see how our meals were. I like when managers check on the customers. Instead of my response of great or good, I gave a more of a lackluster response of aah ok. Before I had any chance to elaborate, she quickly walked away. She was going to other tables to see how other tables were doing, so while good she was checking on the other customers, but I was frustrated as I was going to say more. We didn't bother talking to the manager afterward as we didn't have that much time, and remember we were unexpectedly going to Yogurt Mountain to supplement before going to our movie. Ultimately, Laurel was better, and I'll remember just go to Laurel location or maybe elsewhere other than Hanover from now on.

The price is not worth the quality and service of the restaurant. It's very mediocre. The portions were tiny and the flavor was okay.

I just visited here again recently. The food and service was great! I love the chicken wrap with extra chili jam and the mashed potatoes. It's so good. I wish they had nando's all over the country

A good place to stop for lunch at Arundel Mills. Lots of good options for chicken (and vegetarian choices) including sandwiches, wraps, bowls, and salads.

Since I was in the area, I have always wanted to check out nandos. I liked how this one was in the shopping mall food court. My family and I decided to get the half chicken with a side of the rice and the garlic bread. The rice was alright but the garlic bread was absolutely delicious! It was crunchy yet soft so the texture was amazing and the amount of garlic on there was the right amount. We went with medium spicy on the chicken but I wish I got it a little spicier. The chicken was cooked perfectly as it was still very juicy! I also enjoyed the sauces they had available to pair with it. Overall, it was pretty good and I enjoyed how filling it was!

Amazingly flavorful and delicious! The atmosphere is great and the prices are reasonable. The host has great customer service and the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I did not like the decor, it was a little run down and honestly did not match up to the prices. The service was also disappointing. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Maybe you can ask for the gravy on the side. The food is not bad, but given the physical establishment and the service I wouldn't return.

Also, don't know if this matters but it may matter to some- though this is an East African Restaurant, the menu is slightly more Kenyan than Ugandan. A friend claimed she got food poisoning from the Wheaton Mall location, which surprised me as the food quality is high, but maybe that location fell short. I prefer some other locations over Wheaton Mall one. As for the Laurel location, this one is my favorite, and I've been somewhat often. I've never had any significant issue with them. The food quality is great. I'll get a 1/4 or 1/2 chicken with 2 sides like redskin mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, corn, fries, bread, etc. Staff is relatively nice here. I talked to the manager a couple of times about a couple of minor things, and manager is good here. One time in July 2025, I went for Mandela Day, and it was a madhouse as it was a free 1/4 chicken with fries. I was patient as I waited a while as they had dozens of people wanting the free chicken that Friday evening. My girlfriend was sadly ill that weekend; so I bon appetited on my own. Nando's reward program got worse; so I'm less motivated to schlep to Laurel just to get Nando's. However, if I was going to go with Nando's, I'd go with this one as Arundel Mills let me down last time. Service & food is always top notch at the Laurel location.

There are some gorgeous pieces of beaded jewelry, artwork, clothing, and more in this store. This is an authentic African collection store so you can find just about anything that you'd like that will relate to your African roots. Mr. Kwame was really pleasant, friendly, he engaged his customers, and he just innately knew what we liked or what he thought would be pretty on us. Blue is my favorite color and he picked out this wonderful dress and I fell in love with it instantly. It fits well, has pockets, and a belt to match. My daughter came into the store and before she could begin to browse, he took one look at her, pulled the mannequin inside, and removed the dress from it. He gave it to her with a humble, rather gorgeous smile, and said, "This was made just for you." She turned to see that it was the dress from the mannequin and once again the words, "I love it!," were squeaked into the air. She went to the fitting room to try it on and it fit very well. So we bought it! She wore the dress right out of the store. I changed into mine later and pinned my hair up with the beaded hair pin. Mrs. Sandy got the orange and yellow dress with a bracelet. She absolutely loved that too. You cannot go wrong in this store. I really thought that he was not going to have anything to fit me because I have such large bosoms, however he did. It surprised me. I highly recommend this establishment. Tell Mr. Kwame that the "Shawn, Lady in Blue" sent you. LoL! 5 Stars.

They were out of boneless chicken, so we pivoted to a half chicken... only to be told they were out of that too. Then it turned out they did have it. We ordered the hummus appetizer and got the side portion instead, which meant another trip to the counter to sort it out. We ordered medium peri peri sauce and got something noticeably spicier. Too tired and hungry to send it back, we just ate it... and the meal just didn't hit the way Nando's usually does. The mushy peas we'd been looking forward to aren't even on the menu anymore, which was its own small disappointment. On the bright side, I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine and got what looked like a double pour. Not complaining... but it does sum up the vibe. The staff seemed indifferent, whether it was end-of-night fatigue or just an off-night, hard to say. We'll probably give Nando's another shot elsewhere, but this DC visit was disappointing enough that I can't really recommend this location.

Located within "The Potomac" formerly known as The Salamander, Dōgon is one of three fine dining restaurants curated by Chef Kwame Onwuachi. Our visit coincided with restaurant week and had a pre-fixe menu for $65/pp. Our server was gracious enough to tell us about the other specials available but I decided that I would be fine with the restaurant week menu. For my starter, I enjoyed the oxtail patties and a mango basil smash. The entree was shrimp creole with focaccia bread that I graciously used for sopping up the delicious sauce that hugged the shrimp. Rounding out the meal, I chose the rum cake. None of my items disappointed. I found each to be an appropriate serving and shareable. The coco bread was complimentary and the flecks of salt were satisfying. I enjoyed a second cocktail and chose the Sorel Rickey. It was a hibiscus flavored, rum enhanced, and kissed by lime kinda drink. The manager made her rounds and was very personable. The other guests were watching the dishes being presented to the various tables and you could tell that it made one, a bit eager for their own food or a return visit. Our server was top notch and we enjoyed talking with him and his energy. This restaurant supports solo dining, group events, and date night dining. The bathrooms were well maintained and there is an open kitchen concept where you can see what's going on if you're seated nearby. An overall positive dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and his birthday was acknowledged at the hostess stand, which was a nice first impression. The atmosphere is easily one of the highlights of Dogon. The moody lighting, modern decor, and especially the playlist create such a fun, intimate vibe. The music was jamming the entire time and honestly played a huge role in making the experience enjoyable. We ordered quite a few dishes, and there were definitely some standouts. The crab hoe cakes were delicious and probably one of my favorite things we ordered. The Wagyu ribeye was another standout, incredibly tender and seasoned beautifully. I initially came in wanting to try the Ma Dukes shrimp, but they had recently revamped the menu and replaced it with a Creole shrimp dish. Unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite item of the night. There was a very odd, pungent flavor that I couldn't get past, and the dish was overwhelmingly spicy to me. The oxtail patties were good but nothing that really stood out. The rum cake was delicious, although personally, I would have loved a little more rum flavor. The drinks, however, were all very good and definitely worth trying. The service was just okay. While we were greeted at the hostess stand, there wasn't really any acknowledgment afterward that we were celebrating a birthday, even though the occasion was included on our reservation. I wasn't necessarily expecting anything extravagant, but a simple "Happy Birthday" or candle with our dessert would have made the experience feel a bit more special. Ultimately, I'm 50/50 on whether I'd return. The music and atmosphere are a huge draw, and there were definitely some really good dishes. However, considering the price point and some of the portion sizes, I'm not completely convinced the overall experience matches the cost. I'd definitely recommend Dogon for the vibe, drinks, and a few standout dishes, but whether it's worth the price is where I'm still undecided.

I usually go to this spot when craving soul food. Usually order the same thing: fried whiting,…read moreyams and collards. Today I ordered the fried wing dinner. The menu noted that the price was 16.49. When the young man brought me my food, I asked him to let me speak to the manager as she was the person who took my order. She came over and asked what was the problem. I pointed out that the menu noted the dinner was $16.49 and she had charged me $19.99- which was $3.50 more. She asked where did the menu say this price. I showed her the overhead marquee and she responded that they have two and the wrong one was up. I didn't argue- although I could have. Instead I told her she might want to make sure she update the marquee if she wasn't going to honor the price. While there are a lot of young people who work here- the manager wasn't- thus her reply was not anchored in inexperience. I was disappointed that she didn't offer to make it right or acknowledge that it was their error. That's poor customer service. Usually service is good and the food tastes close enough to grandma's that it addresses the craving. Just check your receipt.
