My girlfriend's salad bowl, which she liked but wasn't tons of food.
Leigh D.

Representing 2024 in alphabet series, N is for Nando's. I had been to the Nando's Arundel Mills location a few times prior to 2024 and a few times with my girlfriend in 2024 & 2025. Food is great like the other locations. Every time I go to this location, their scanner doesn't work to get the points. So, they tell me to scan the receipt, which is a hassle, and you have to remember to do that. I had some issue relating to rewards and spoke with the manager, who was nice. I believe it was using my birthday deal, and she tried with the scanner to no avail. She gave me the meal on the house, which was unexpected. That day in winter 2024, this Nando's was my favorite and would've gotten 5-stars. Last time my girlfriend & I were here was on 12/9/25. To be fair, I didn't want to overeat, and getting 1/2 chicken with 2 sides can be a weight gain for me, and my weight was inflated in general in December 2025 due to the holidays. We went for a somewhat early dinner around 5:30 as we had an advanced movie screening at Egyptian Cinemark. I got the 1/4 chicken white with Brussel sprouts (which is always $2 upcharge) and Peri-Peri chips (Nando's fancy way of saying fries). I wish I took a pic of the December 9, 2025 chicken here, but I went only 9 days later to the Laurel location on 12/18 as I had points expiring and needed to use points relatively soon before they went away, and there was a decent amount of meat on the 1/4 chicken as I did sent a pic to my girlfriend from the Laurel location. The chicken at Hanover maybe had about 1/2 the amount of meat as it should have, which the Laurel location was about right and was the right amount of chicken per 1/4 piece in my picture from March 2024 attached of this location then. I was complaining to my girlfriend about this nonsense some of our time here; put me in a worse mood. Also, the Brussel sprouts were in a smaller container, and I'm paying an extra $2 upcharge to get a smaller container. The normal amount of fries, which isn't a ton of fries. I told my g/f I hate to say it, I'm still kind of hungry and kept mentioning possibly going to Yogurt Mountain. I certainly wasn't going to reward Nando's with being more food or dessert there. We ended up going to Yogurt Mountain, which was delicious, but I didn't really want to supplement my lacking meal with sugary dessert when weight was already up in December, not to mention extra cost. The same nice manager who was helpful in early 2024 came around to see how our meals were. I like when managers check on the customers. Instead of my response of great or good, I gave a more of a lackluster response of aah ok. Before I had any chance to elaborate, she quickly walked away. She was going to other tables to see how other tables were doing, so while good she was checking on the other customers, but I was frustrated as I was going to say more. We didn't bother talking to the manager afterward as we didn't have that much time, and remember we were unexpectedly going to Yogurt Mountain to supplement before going to our movie. Ultimately, Laurel was better, and I'll remember just go to Laurel location or maybe elsewhere other than Hanover from now on.

The price is not worth the quality and service of the restaurant. It's very mediocre. The portions were tiny and the flavor was okay.

I just visited here again recently. The food and service was great! I love the chicken wrap with extra chili jam and the mashed potatoes. It's so good. I wish they had nando's all over the country

A good place to stop for lunch at Arundel Mills. Lots of good options for chicken (and vegetarian choices) including sandwiches, wraps, bowls, and salads.

Since I was in the area, I have always wanted to check out nandos. I liked how this one was in the shopping mall food court. My family and I decided to get the half chicken with a side of the rice and the garlic bread. The rice was alright but the garlic bread was absolutely delicious! It was crunchy yet soft so the texture was amazing and the amount of garlic on there was the right amount. We went with medium spicy on the chicken but I wish I got it a little spicier. The chicken was cooked perfectly as it was still very juicy! I also enjoyed the sauces they had available to pair with it. Overall, it was pretty good and I enjoyed how filling it was!

Amazingly flavorful and delicious! The atmosphere is great and the prices are reasonable. The host has great customer service and the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!

This review is based on my experience at Nandos. We were in town for the weekend. After convincing my husband to eat at Nando's we waited in line. It was Saturday night so I expect some level of waiting. I dont know if people had called ahead or requested pick up but some were seated before we were. After my husband's complaints, we were then seated. We were told normally" booths are for bigger parties" but because of the wait they would accomadate. Go figure. We were also told one of the oven's had broken down. Wings were ok but whole chicken would be 40 minutes. We were also offered out door seating with heaters. LOL. After being seated (inside)we ordered from the table. No one visited the table during this time. For almost 40 minutes we sat waiting for the order. Again my husband voiced frustrations with the entire flow of the restaraunt. We watched over and over again folks comming in for pick up,etc. Not one item from our order made it to the table. WE finally get the manager who at first could not find the order. After locating(Food) in a restaraunt.. Our order was brought to the table. We were told our order appeared to be take out. Well that explains it... Here is why that did not explain it.. Most take out moved faster than orders inside. We watched folks who walked in picked up orders by name and left. Twent to twentyfive minutes tops. We sat adjacent to orders being picked up(full view). Not one person called my name for a pickup order! Lastly, I spent $50.00 for as follows: Half chicken (2) sides portugese rice 9 wings with mash and cucumber salad mac and cheese & Peri sauce garlic bread What the manager brought over was everything except: Mash & Peri sauce, silverware requested but not recieved. I fished out silverware on my own whilst one of the greeters restocked. I fished out napkins as well to atleast wipe my hands from eating the peri sauce. Starvng and frustrated by the time the food arrived I did not care that it was warm I didnt bother with the mention of items missing I figured what was done was done. Peri Chicken and rice were a plus as well as mac and cheese. Really all I can review based on not receiving the rest. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50-100

The Suya had some flavor but seemed to be missing something. I decided to take the leftovers home but unfortunately the Suya bites got very hard overnight so were not enjoyable the next day. Since eating out is pricey you may want to choose a different restaurant to try.

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I did not like the decor, it was a little run down and honestly did not match up to the prices. The service was also disappointing. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Maybe you can ask for the gravy on the side. The food is not bad, but given the physical establishment and the service I wouldn't return.

Our waiter was so charismatic, helpful, and kind. He even turned up the music in our corner of the restaurant upon request! The food was generally good, just a bit on the drier end. Even the stew wasn't really soupy. So if you were trying to mix some rice with some stew, you basically got cake on your plate. Regardless, everything was seasoned to absolute perfection. Also, don't know if this matters but it may matter to some- though this is an East African Restaurant, the menu is slightly more Kenyan than Ugandan. Something to keep in your expectations when visiting!

All have been 3-4 stars (even the ones I hadn't reviewed). A friend claimed she got food poisoning from the Wheaton Mall location, which surprised me as the food quality is high, but maybe that location fell short. I prefer some other locations over Wheaton Mall one. As for the Laurel location, this one is my favorite, and I've been somewhat often. I've never had any significant issue with them. The food quality is great. I'll get a 1/4 or 1/2 chicken with 2 sides like redskin mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, corn, fries, bread, etc. Staff is relatively nice here. I talked to the manager a couple of times about a couple of minor things, and manager is good here. One time in July 2025, I went for Mandela Day, and it was a madhouse as it was a free 1/4 chicken with fries. I was patient as I waited a while as they had dozens of people wanting the free chicken that Friday evening. My girlfriend was sadly ill that weekend; so I bon appetited on my own. Nando's reward program got worse; so I'm less motivated to schlep to Laurel just to get Nando's. However, if I was going to go with Nando's, I'd go with this one as Arundel Mills let me down last time. Service & food is always top notch at the Laurel location.

There are some gorgeous pieces of beaded jewelry, artwork, clothing, and more in this store. This is an authentic African collection store so you can find just about anything that you'd like that will relate to your African roots. Mr. Kwame was really pleasant, friendly, he engaged his customers, and he just innately knew what we liked or what he thought would be pretty on us. Blue is my favorite color and he picked out this wonderful dress and I fell in love with it instantly. It fits well, has pockets, and a belt to match. My daughter came into the store and before she could begin to browse, he took one look at her, pulled the mannequin inside, and removed the dress from it. He gave it to her with a humble, rather gorgeous smile, and said, "This was made just for you." She turned to see that it was the dress from the mannequin and once again the words, "I love it!," were squeaked into the air. She went to the fitting room to try it on and it fit very well. So we bought it! She wore the dress right out of the store. I changed into mine later and pinned my hair up with the beaded hair pin. Mrs. Sandy got the orange and yellow dress with a bracelet. She absolutely loved that too. You cannot go wrong in this store. I really thought that he was not going to have anything to fit me because I have such large bosoms, however he did. It surprised me. I highly recommend this establishment. Tell Mr. Kwame that the "Shawn, Lady in Blue" sent you. LoL! 5 Stars.

For appetizers, we ordered the hamachi crudo, scallop crudo, plantains, roti, eggplant, and suya. The eggplant was easily the standout and honestly some of the best eggplant I've ever had--10/10. The roti paired really well with it. The plantains were also very good, and it seemed like the dishes featured two different preparations of plantain. The suya and scallop crudo were okay, but not the most memorable items of the night. For our mains, we had the jollof rice with duck and the medium-rare ribeye. The jollof had a distinctly Ghanaian flavor, possibly with a touch of crayfish, and the egg was a nice addition. The duck was flavorful, although the texture was a little tougher than I expected. The ribeye was amazing and cooked well, though the chimichurri was applied a little heavily for my taste. Overall, we had a great experience. Dinner, however, is an entirely different experience and I'm glad I gave it another chance. The space alone sets the tone, beautiful decor across two floors of dining. We were seated on the second floor near the open kitchen and watching the chefs work while dishes were carried out around us added a whole layer to the evening. Dinner and a show, essentially. The wine menu is extensive and worth taking your time with. For starters we tried the crispy okra fries which were a great introduction to what was coming. The main event featured jollof duck pot, broiled branzino, tomahawk steak and crab fried rice -- everything arrived bursting with flavor. Even when one dish didn't fully land for someone at the table, something else more than compensated. That's the sign of a well rounded menu. Contemporary Ghanaian cuisine done at this level deserves its flowers and Elmina is delivering. I'm already looking forward to returning.

They were out of boneless chicken, so we pivoted to a half chicken... only to be told they were out of that too. Then it turned out they did have it. We ordered the hummus appetizer and got the side portion instead, which meant another trip to the counter to sort it out. We ordered medium peri peri sauce and got something noticeably spicier. Too tired and hungry to send it back, we just ate it... and the meal just didn't hit the way Nando's usually does. The mushy peas we'd been looking forward to aren't even on the menu anymore, which was its own small disappointment. On the bright side, I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine and got what looked like a double pour. Not complaining... but it does sum up the vibe. The staff seemed indifferent, whether it was end-of-night fatigue or just an off-night, hard to say. We'll probably give Nando's another shot elsewhere, but this DC visit was disappointing enough that I can't really recommend this location.

As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac.
