The chicken is good, the value is terrible, service is slow and weak. Place seems like it could use 1-2 extra staff or maybe better quality staff seeing as the wait was a while despite there being hardly any customers and only 2 orders on the mobile order screen. The cashier also explained that she couldn't ring my order up for me because she was waiting for a customer to come back to the store with his payment (the only other customer who was ordering when I arrived, no other people in line.) As someone who has cashiered at 4 different places it's very unfortunate that in 2026 their POS system doesn't allow them to park an order so they can ring up someone else in the meantime. She did some wonderful standing around while patronizingly offering, twice, "just let me know if you need any help at all with the order screen." I love self check out, I use it at the grocery store, the gas station etc. the reason why I didn't want to use it today is that it's not super appetizing touching a screen that you have no idea how recently it's been cleaned or how many other people have been touching it right before you're about to eat food with your hands. Sure, there's a restroom to wash your hands but it just doesn't leave a good feeling having to put your own order in on an ordering screen that isn't even stabilized so it's noisily creaking and moving underneath your every touch etc. and then the price is not great, and the wait turns out to be worse. and then they have the nerve to automatically prompt you for a tip at the end, for what. For what. Thank you for deigning to make the food I'm paying for? Thank you for not making me walk into the kitchen and pick it up myself?? What service am I supposed to be tipping for? I'm sure the tip prompt is just "automatically" programmed in there but it's really the absurdist cherry on top of this whole experience. But the sliders are really big. The Dave sauce is delicious. It's hard to describe but it's really good to dip your fries in too. I usually love getting food at Dave's hot chicken especially the one that is near my house back in Columbus. I was in town and decided to get it to go so I could have it back at my hotel for lunch. I ended up just getting a single slider with a side of fries because I feel like the 2 sliders is too much food for me. It's very flavorful and the side of fries it comes with are crunchy and fresh w/ a nice seasoning to them. My son opted to try the Reaper and we had to sign a wavier, he said it wasn't that hot but I knew that heat touched his taste buds b/c after that initial bite, he didn't pick that sandwich back up lol. What a great addition to the Lakewood food scene! The restaurant has vibrant pictures all around the store. I went with my two sons who are 1 and 5. It wasn't too busy during lunch on a Friday so the service was quick and efficient. I ordered the 2 chicken sliders lite mild and an additional slider with no spice and fries. My son said the lite mild was a little spicy for his liking. I enjoyed the mild slider it was very flavorful and the Dave's sauce was a great addition as well. I even dipped my fries in it. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well, although it was slightly on the greasier side compared to the other chicken-based restaurants in the area. The spiciness definitely enhanced the flavor a lot. If you have the typical spice tolerance, medium/hot probably hits the sweet spot between improving the flavor and being too hot that you only can taste the spice. The portion sizes for all three combo menu items are pretty generous. Warning that Dave's still gets pretty busy - I'm not sure if things will stay this way or if it's just because of the novelty, but this place was packed when I went in mid February. Stopped by for some lunch, I was craving chicken, and realized I never tried Dave's Hot Chicken before. Everytime I go to a "hot chicken" place I always get their hottest option. With that being said I settled for the "Reaper" option, and MAN did I get what I asked for. First they made me sign a waiver before allowing me to purchase my meal, which is intimidating enough, especially because no place I've been to has ever required my signature just to eat some spicy food. The service was quick, it took about seven or so minutes for my food to come out. The interior was vibrant, and well maintained. The chicken was absolutely tremendous I definitely lost the battle against it, but it was cooked to perfection. The fries were delicious with a great seasoning on top, accompanied by their sauce which was a treat. My husband wanted to try this chicken as it is "new" to area. The cashier was pleasant, but the wait was not good. We patiently waited for at least 20+ mins for food that tasted like the pre fried chicken that comes frozen in a bag, with frozen seasoned fries that were also cooked in oil with two pieces of bread that you could easily by from any grocery store. Probably the best hot chicken you can find in the greater cleveland area. Hot chicken takeover is good too but this is closer to what Nashville hot actually is. Their hot spiciness is the perfect level of heat for those of us who like spicy foods... my preferred peppers are Bird's eye or Habenero to give some perspective with that. If you're a fan of ghost peppers, by all means bump it up a notch or two... if they ever make a house ranch I might give the extra hot a try as well... until then I'm sticking with hot. I wasn't a fan of the kale slaw (lacked flavor compared to everything else) but the staff members were friendly, attentive, and quick with the order.
