I really enjoy eating my lunch here with my assistant because I can crowd watch while I eat. But I'd like to brag about The woman who's cash register number is 6 she has rang me up three or four times I think she has a very relaxing voice and it makes me feel calm it's almost like I have a built in friend and sometimes that doesn't happen especially in a grocery store but when it does you know you've got something really special. I believe the woman's name was Kerry but if you can please find who it was and give her a pat on the back I'd appreciate that because she really deserves it. read more

I need to go to Dave's as I am handicapped and I need a bathroom that is both clean, and easy to get to. The staff has been so wonderful to me when I was so weak, I could hardly stand up. The staff here are always helpful. The produce section is beautiful. They have ALL sorts of prepared foods. Pick them up packaged from the refrigerated section, or take a number and get them hot behind the counter AND there is a self serve section for hot food as well as a pretty good salad bar or pick up a pre-made salad. Of course the deli has all the expected items like potato salad and tuna salad, plus other items you may not expect. They have a butcher shop with some good looking chops and a seafood shop that has never been stinky like some other stores I've visited. The frozen food section has a surprising selection of fish, pizza, vegetarian, etc., etc. Lots of dairy items. (LOTS). They pretty much have everything you want from crackers to canned goods, juices to mixers, coffee to rice. It's all pretty much here. Yes, prices may seem high, but honestly, between the other stores in this area, they're pretty competitive and have a better selection. This is not my 'go to' store as it's out of the way, but when I am passing by (even remotely in the area) I will stop here if I need anything. I came here to get some groceries to make a soup. I was pleased to find the free coffee. Dave's isn't my usual grocery store so I had no idea this was a thing and I really appreciated it post workout! I have been trying to go plastic free which is super frustrating in general, but especially in the fresh veggie section. I was mulling around for a cardboard box or some left over container of sorts to but my veggies in. I found the eggplants had some tissue paper on them- I'm not sure if they were there in purpose or not- but I ended up wrapping my veggies in that. It was a nice eco- friendly alternative that o am currently composting. I loved the selection of vegetarian and vegan options through the store as well. I ended up picking up a few of my grocery list items in a veggie or vegan form. I was also really impressed at the selection of refrigerated prepare foods. I wanted to pick something up for lunch the following day. I was expecting an option between a few salads and prepared sandwiches. I found the refrigerated section had several options then I turned the corner and saw the long buffet style counter where workers were packaging more prepared food options. As a girl always on the go I will deff Be switching to Dave's got prepared food- especially during busy weeks. The layout was well labeled and organized!! Dave's has really good food an is always fresh. The meat always looks as red as it gets. The price is sooo high I try to avoid going in here but I do. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh an looking good also. Soups an salads are a must. read more

If you are looking for prepared meals, a hot bar, or a surprisingly good pizza (or fish and chips on Friday) on the way home, this is the best place locally to get those things in one place. If you want great quality meats, seafood and produce, this is a great place for that as well. A solid bakery backs those things too. I love all of the breads and the lemon, raspberry and blueberry squares. As for regular groceries, Dave's should have most of what you are looking for and will consistently surprise you with local products and new items that you didn't know you wanted to try. Prices are a bit higher than some other markets, but I would say it's worth a little extra to support local businesses and for some of the unique products that are available there. Ordered pizza takeout here multiple times and it's usually very good. We ordered a pizza with cheese, tomato and spinach. This is the first pizza that I've had to rake before we could eat it. I'm pretty sure they cleaned out the canned spinach inventory for this pizza. read more

Due to the closing of another local produce market, I visited Dave's in Coventry and I was not disappointed at all! This is a smaller version of the East Greenwich location, which is also great but a little too far for me to travel to for my weekly shopping needs. I found everything from produce, seafood, meats and deli selections to be extremely fresh and endless options. They have a great selection of both hot and cold prepared foods. I love the option of the prepackaged (but very fresh) deli meats, cheeses and salads (pasta, potato, olives, etc.) if your in a rush! This area is conveniently located near the prepared food stations and deli. The store is very well laid out, having counter service departments spread out, allows fast and easy service. Great planing when designing the market! Check out is always a breeze no matter what day or time. Again great planing on store managements part as there's just the right amount of cashiers. I find the pricing to be reasonable. Though some other reviewers mentioned non sale items to be expensive. If an item is on sale, your given the sale price at check out, you don't need to swipe a store card to be given the sale price. In my opinion hold the gas points and give me fresh, quality food, I'm grocery shopping after all! read more

I'm really not feeling the love from this Dave's location lately, to the point where I've been driven to go to Stop and Shop instead. Not good. Let me start by saying that I love Dave's (please see previous review). But, I want to receive some of that love back. The produce as of the last few months has been atrocious - berries coming with fuzz, avocados so over-ripened that simply picking them up leaves a massive dent in the side, and grape tomatoes that are wrinkly and ruined in the containers. And, it doesn't end there...I've run into chicken on sale which I've purchased and brought home only to find out the USE BY (not to be confused with the sell by) was the same day and smelled wretched once opened. I could at least always count on the nice folks at the store to make up for some of these issues, but I'm finding that the summer help (read: hormone infused high school kids) is becoming a serious issue. There's more flirting between the cashiers than there is any inkling of customer service. Dave's, I'm really sad. We used to have something special. read more

What I like about this place: Dave's is convenient for me, location-wise and food-wise. It's on the way to and from work. Plus their hot prepared foods are a lifesaver when I don't have time and/or energy to cook dinner. And, the fact they're smaller than, say, Stop & Shop means you can get in and out of there quicker (their express lines are shorter and faster than Stop & Shop's). Their quality of meats, produce and baked goods are good. They carry some specialty items and ingredients that are hard to find elsewhere. Their fried chicken is outstanding, and store-made sandwiches decent. And free coffee is a nice touch. There are plenty of cashiers and they work efficiently, so there are never long lines here. What I don't like about Dave's Market: Prices for non-sale items are generally higher than the larger, chain supermarkets, so I don't do the bulk of my shopping here. Their prepared seafood tends to be dry and bland. I wish they would offer more variety in their hot food bar, instead of the same old stuff day after day. They do offer more variety in their store-prepared foods in a refrigerated cooler, which you reheat, but some of these are bland also. I went to this Daves for the first time today and I thought it was alot like the other locations. I used to shop here back in the day when it was Jerry's so its weird to see it set up differently. I don't really care for the lay out of the store, its confusing and nothing is where you'd expect it to be. Daves prices are wayyyy higher then most other supermarkets but the store does look nice and clean. Overall not my favorite place to shop but they do carry some things that are worth going in for. read more

Wife just came home and complained that the man behind the fish counter ignored her while she waited to buy some salmon. She kept waiting until she became frustrated and left. I told her there are better places in RI to buy fresher fish. This is now twice this week that Dave's has disappointed us with their service and product. I used to like Dave's. However, have taken my business elsewhere. Not only do they not have a good selection of organic options, but their employees are rude and unprofessional. I purchased an expensive bag of shrimp that wasn't sealed properly and after being in the freezer for one week was completely freezer burnt. They treated me like I was some kind of criminal for asking to return it. They are the criminals for having suck poor, unprofessional customer service. If you know Wegmans grocery stores, then you understand when I say: Dave's is a smaller-scale Wegmans with a beautiful display of produce, fresh prepared foods, and a solid selection of items throughout the store. It's well decorated and the staff is almost as friendly as Wegs. This was a nice find while we were in RI on vacation. On a 4-day stay in the area, I think we made 5 trips to Dave's... it was about a mile down the road from my cousin's house. The highlight for me: the fresh-baked muffins. The berry one was delicious. My bf got the French Toast - very original and very good. And the Red Velvet was divine - all cake, none of that icky cream cheese frosting, and it had mini chocolate chips on the top and inside. That was a good muffin! (Note: if you're from a dairy state like NY, be prepared. I did not expect to spend $5 on a gallon of milk or $5-$6 for a package of butter. Each of those is around $2.49 where we live in the Rochester, NY area. Guess who toted the remaining 1/2 gallon of milk home in the cooler...) Oh! Almost forgot. Wide variety is the best attribute to this modern grocery market. You can get it all here and I love that. I appreciate the fresh fruits and vegetables. The seafood is reasonably priced and well presented. Its obvious when this store is handled by professionals. I have a real problem with Daves. When they opened they were supposed to e all about local .Now they sell lots of fruits and vegies from Mexico,and other countries. Plus they are selling meats from Australia,Canada or Mexico,as marked on the beef packages. Buy American meat and support these local farmers with surplus. read more

A smaller store than most Dave's but the quality is not sacrificed. In a spot that once hosted another local grocer who was put under by the price cutting giants of a super walmart and super stop and shop, dave's business has been steady. Shopping at dave's is such a different experience for me, employees are helpful, friendly, and willing to get you answers with ease. Upper management can bee seen out on the floor and engaging customers, not hiding up in an office. Complimentary free coffee and items you might not see at a big box retailer (tomato paste in a resealable tube anyone?), and a wide array of locally produced items (del's, polar, Narragansett creamery, olivia's lettuce, local pasta sauces, laurel hill chips, and more) . The biggest and most impressive thing about dave's. Absolutely no wafting scents from their seafood counter. None! While it costs me about $7 more a trip (I have done some comparison shopping trips) the lack of hassle, lack of impulse items, and focus on quality items is what brings me back. read more

I prefer the Dave's on Division Street in East Greenwich to this one. Although I live closer to this one, I go to EG instead. The parking lot sucks and when it's a busy shopping day, good luck finding a space. It's also smaller compared to EG. Otherwise, the produce and meats are very good.
