Dave saved my life! I was stranded with four kids and a mountain of gear when my engine blew. We were on our way to a long-anticipated trip to Tahoe. The kind folks at Autotronics gave me a ride to Dave's. Even though Dave's front desk rental person was not there, Dave worked hard to remember his system so that I could rent a car and get underway. Dave and Kyle were so sweet and worked to get me the right car. He had received a fleet of brand new Highlanders that afternoon and hadn't even set them all up for rental. I really needed a hitch for my bike rack and he and Kyle got it ready to rent for me. Not to mention, Dave has a huge, funny, and warm personality. I couldn't be more grateful. had an excellent experience with Dave. I wanted to pick up my girlfriend from the airport in something stylish and tour through Amador and see my parents. I was initially looking near the airport at hertz and enterprise for a convertible or something fun and was surprised to find that Dave's was far better price for a far better car, even with hertz having a AAA discount. I got the BMW 335 coupe with AWD for a very competitive price and couldn't be happier with all the details that made for an all around great experience, both with the car and with the service. examples were how the car was very clean and felt new (even with 30k). Dave went out of his way to be friendly and though I used a debit card only held reasonable deposit. my insurance transferred over so that kept costs down, and he didn't try to sell me anything else. I went over the mileage allowance and he didn't charge me much for it, and I even forgot to fill the tank before returning it and he charged me market value of the fuel (Hertz or enterprise would have reamed me, been there) was out the door fast and returning it was very quick. It was overall a very positive experience and would rent with Dave's again anytime. Now I want to buy that beamer, it ruined me for my own car :( read more

Great customer service. When enterprise refused to rent to us after 5+ prior years of renting from them, we took a chance and decided to try this place. The rates are comparable to other car rental places, but the customer service is amazing, the employee that helped us (Daniel) was very helpful and professional, he even helped us save some money when we went to return the car. I have rented from Dave's in the past and had a good experience. This time around was not so great. I called to reserve a cargo van to move some boxes out of my storage space and was quoted a rate of $63 per day for the weekend. To be fair to Dave's I did not check the contract that I signed, assuming the rate would be what was quoted. I was quite surprised when I returned the car and was charged $227 for the rental (not including the overage charge for mileage). I called Dave's and they were not at all helpful and claimed that they had quoted me the rate they charged. Please read your contract if you choose to rent from them. ----------------------------------------------- I am editing my review since Dave's contacted me and adjusted the price to the original quote. Best sales experience ever! A friend referred me to Dave's since I was looking for a newer 4 runner and she saw they had a few. After researching the models I wanted and having a few unfavorable test drives at various Toyota dealerships I stopped by on a whim. Daniel greeted me and was incredible knowledgable about Toyotas. (Something that was lacking from other sales folks I was dealing with). He informed me they do trade-ins and he could do the financing through my bank. Talk about a speed of trust transaction. Everything was fair, strait forward and zero pressure, guess that's why they've been around for 20+ years. He said, take it for a few days as a rental. Great idea, I fell in love with it. Dave saved my life!! My 14 year old car broke down yesterday and I NEEDED a car to get to work, the problem is I am only 19. Enterprise and Hertz wouldn't rent to me even with an AAA membership. Jim is great! I almost called him Dave in the review. My work needed a large van to haul a bunch of us between breweries for the day. He gave us a great rate and an awesome 12 passenger vehicle. We had a blast all night and returned the van with a little extra mileage, turns out even those rates are more than affordable. Outstanding, quick Customer Service!!! I rented a car from Dave's because my car needed some repairs. My insurance allowed for a certain amount per day for the car. I called and reserved a small car (Toyota Corolla), and when I arrived a couple of days later, the Corolla hadn't been returned yet so they let me rent a Toyota Rav 4 for the same price as the Corolla. They first told me that I may need to swap out the Rav 4 for the Corolla during the week. They first called me and asked me to make the switch and then decided to let me keep it for the whole week!!! We rented a Toyota Highlander for one day just to drive to Tahoe. The price was around $110 so it wasn't too high but when my husband turned in the vehicle the next day he was charged $37 for extra mileage (over 100 miles). He was never told about a mileage limit. He pays very close attention to all details and this was never mentioned when we called ahead of time over the phone and when he went to pick up the vehicle. read more

Don't rent from here. We rented a vehicle here and they charged us an extra cleaning fee for pet hair! We don't even own a pet! The manager said they have photos of pet hair in the truck from when we dropped it off! They wouldn't refund our money for the extra fee. Horrible customer service. read more

I wish I could give this company more than red stars on an app!!! I was recently rear ended and provided a car from them through the insurance of the person who rear ended me. I only had the pleasure of dealing with Daniel(AMAZING guy). Not only was there a smile on his face the entire time but he answered questions before they were able to even come out of my mouth, all while handling everything in a quick and more than thorough manner!!! I ended up having the car for a little over a month and as you can imagine acquired a hefty bill for the insurance to take care...you would think. Without telling me Nationwide instructed Dave's Rent-a-car to stick me with the rest of the bill. Which ended up being enough to let's just say get a room in Tahoe and maybe some spending money for drinks and gambling. I would give an exact amount but I don't want people to expect preferential treatment based off of a yelp review of someone they don't know. All in all Daniel, the same awesome guy I dealt with ended up talking to the owner and speaking on my behalf and got my bill ASTRONOMICALLY reduced!!! I can't thank Daniel AND Dave's enough for not only their impeccable service but also their tenacious effort to keep my best interests at the forefront of their minds. My family owns a house in Mexico and always rents cars to drive down and I know exactly where we will be renting from ALL the time from now on!!!! I was very surprised and pleased at how easy it was to rent a vehicle (including a last minute change I needed to make to vehicle type), and how different (for the better) they are from everyone else. I decided to try them last week because basically I've tried everyone else and knew from past experience what I would be getting. With the other places it was all a matter of how many changes to my trip I'd have to make and how far out of my way I'd have to go as a result of doing business with them, as well as how much I'd have to risk with some of them like Enterprise who will proactively search for opportunities to screw you over. I didn't want to go through all the crap you have to deal with from the other car rental places, and was very pleased with what I found with Dave's Rent-A-Car.
