After touring friend's home remodel/construction site we went into town for lunch here, she's a regular. I had heard about the "train bar" from a friend's daughter who lived in Delano. There's a train running on track suspended from the wall by the ceiling around the bar, over bridges and through little city scenes. Simple food, plainly served. I had a great hand-made 1/4 lb. burger (mushroom swiss) with extra crispy waffle fries as I requested. Burger was delish, side of crispy waffle fries perfect, accompanied by an icy mug of Creme Ale. Friend had the daily special, sloppy joes. The meat is provided fresh by the Rieder Meat Market & Lockers next door. I think our lunches with the beers were around $10. Extremely reasonable, free popcorn, sports on tv's all around. Nice inside with a large patio with umbrella tables outside. (They aer NOT dog-friendly on the patio.) Fast friendly service, they were well staffed for a Tuesday lunch hour. Friend confirmed a bar full of regulars who come for daily lunch. We had a great day here. Stopped in here randomly one Saturday after being in the area and had a blast! Food was your typical bar food but the best part of the day was the Meat Raffle! We ended up winning 2 times and came home with some local bacon, beef, and steaks. The bar and atmosphere are so cute for Delano, a small town, west of Mpls/St. Paul. There is a fish tank and a really, really cool train track setup that runs above you! They have such cute mannequins of local businesses and it creates such a unique experience. Staff was friendly, accomodating, and attentive during our dining exerpience! Definitely will be back for Meat Raffle and pull tabs, maybe not so much for the food. read more

Dave's is synonymous with Delano... It IS the city's bar. Guess what - I'm from Delano, so I love Dave's and the fact that I can almost never get a beer or food there without seeing someone I knew growing up. Dave himself is commonly working and may even bring your food out to you. If you grew up in a small town and miss that one place that everyone gathered - this will bring back some nostalgic vibes. The prices for both food and drinks are refreshingly reasonable. You won't need to take out a second mortgage to get a simple (read bar food) meal and drinks for you and your family. Bonus points if you love deep-fried appetizers and burgers (I always get the cajun cheeseburger). Some people rave about Dave's pizza and my family would get it because there were limited options in town. I think it is fine, but not a favorite. I usually don't have any problems at this restaurant but Monday evening, June 2024 it took over an hour to get our food. when it finally arrived the waffle fries were cold and the Western burger was not hot and the cheese wasn't even melted. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen but it's obvious they need additional cooks and kitchen help. another couple ordered salads and they returned them after waiting for an hour for their food too. In the past the restaurant is jammed pack and never have waited that long to get food. the popcorn machine was empty so we couldn't even snack on that as we were waiting. We even commented that there was no popcorn but the wait staff didn't make any. Kiddos were looking for popcorn to tie them over so they got snacks out of the vendor machine! read more

Good ol' Dave's is a Delano classic. In the heart of Delano, Dave's is a popular stop for their extremely cheap eats and big mug beers. Their free popcorn machine is a favorite too. My boyfriend and I have frequented this place this summer, and it's been our go-to for when we are too tired to cook up a meal at home. I cannot believe how inexpensive their entire menu is, especially during post-COVID times where it seems most businesses have had to hike up their prices. They offer your typical American bar food/fried food and it's a "no frills" kind of joint. I won't say they have anything close to amazing food, but it does the trick if you come hungry. Again, the prices are what does it here, and you won't find another bar & restaurant that can beat them on that. I've had several of their menu items, and the most notable thing I've had is their Southwestern beef fajita wrap ($6.95) which comes with battered krinkle fries or chips and a pickle spear. You can upgrade your fries to waffle fries for an extra $1.50. Their wrap was surprisingly wonderful - plenty of steak strips even though the wrap was on the smaller side. I love both of their fry options - the battered krinkle fries and the waffle fries taste great, so you can't go wrong with either option. If you choose waffle fries, don't forget to get some seasoned sour cream with it. Other than the fajita wrap, my boyfriend loves their buffalo wings ($7.25) which comes with fries, toast, and coleslaw. The disclaimer to the buffalo wings basket is that they are not wings. They are exactly like their drummies basket, but spicy, so don't expect to see any flat wings. Just the drummies make up the buffalo wings. I know, confusing right? Their buffalo wings bring some heat, but it's not overwhelming. It's not a sauce on top of the wings either, but rather, already in the fried batter of the wings which we prefer. You can ask for a cup of buffalo sauce if you do like it saucy. If you want chicken drummies, wings & tenders all in one meal, I'd recommend getting the chicken trio appetizer basket ($8). It comes with the drummies you'd normally get in a regular chicken drummies basket + a few flats and tendies thrown into the mix (the tenders are very clearly frozen tendies btw, so don't set your bar too high). One last thing about their menu - their burgers are very bland. They offer 1/4 and 1/2 lb burgers. Although their burgers are large and only range from $5-$9 in price, I swear they do not salt the patties. I've tried their burgers multiple times and have found them to be flavorless every single time. I wouldn't suggest getting their burgers here unless you're just looking for something filling and don't particularly care about taste. The waitresses and waiters here do their job right - they're friendly and attentive which is all you can ask for at any bar & grill. They have a bar, plenty of indoor dining, and a patio. Street parking is free. You'll probably look at your tab and think they forgot to tack on a few drinks or apps, but rest assured, it'll be correct. It really is dirt cheap. Dave's is the spot if you're in a pinch. read more

Need a good old tavern with cheap food and cold beer? Dave's Town Club is the place. Don't be scared off if you walk in the front door and it looks full, there's plenty of seating in the back, and some outside. The service is nice and quick. Be patient if it is busy, and it just may be, because, after all the food is great and did I say the beer is cold?! Unique decor in that there are saltwater fish tanks as well as a pretty cool train that goes around the front part of the place. Give this place a try. I always tell people of my first time at Daves. When we first moved out here, five couples all went out and took turns buying the round. At Daves, it was my turn. Something like 5 taps, a couple bottles and 5 mixed drinks were ordered. The bartender says "$14", and I say " no, I am getting it for everyone" and she states- " that is for everyone". All the folks that give Dave's bad reviews on yelp need to remember where they are going and what to expect from a town bar. This is not a hipster joint with a chef and a million dollar interior. If it was, the food and drinks would cost 4 times the current menu prices. Get real! If you want to take the kids out for good bar food (wings, burgers, fries, pizza) and have a drink or two for $30 or less, its the ONLY place I know of that still exists! The kitchen can be slow when it get busy, which is most nights around supper time, but its worth the wait. It's a good place to people watch and the kids love the old school arcade games or coloring a I LOVE DAVE'S poster that grace the walls of the dinning room while they wait for dinner. The food is good, if you like bar food. There are usually specials like "T-bone Night" or "Taco Night" that is a break from the usual fryer food. If you expect a dinning experience with "professionals" as some reviewers suggest, you are confused, misguided and should stay home. Here's a simple way to figure this out. Ask the waitress if her name is KIM. If the waitress says, "no," leave! It's pretty much that simple. Brought a friend there tonight and sat at the bar. He ordered a tall McGolden. They were out, which wasn't a big deal. He asked for a Coors Light tall. The bartender hands over a beer and said this was a miss pour. Dave's Town Club has been a staple in the Delano community for years. Since I have not lived in the area for 12 years now I had to come back to grab a beer and burger with my pops. Wow was I impressed! I looked at the simple menu and was unsure what to order. I went with Cheeseburger basket at $5. The waitress asked how I'd like my burger prepared so I said medium but not expecting much as usually bars dont cook your food correctly. I was pleasantly surprised with Matt, the cook, brought out my perfectly prepared burger. Who knew I'd get such a wonderful meal for only $5?! After chatting with some of the local bar patrons I found out that this place is all that and a bag of chips. For reals. Apparently they get fresh meat from the local meat market daily. Rieders Meats supplies the beef, bacon and other meaty things they sell at Daves. YUM! I will definitely come back to this place. During Happy Hour you can get any domestic beer on tap for $2.25 for a 25oz beer! Hellz yeah! or if you need to chill a 12oz mug will cost you a mere $1.60. I feel like I'm living back in Wisconsin during my college days getting fed & wasted for under $20. Other specials throughout the week include Monday night wings for $.25 a piece, Wednesday nights is a Mexican Buffet for $7.00 that changes every week. According to Harry, a frequent bar patron, Saturdays you must come down for Prime rib! "It's simply fantastic!" For only $11.95 you can get a Queen cut of the Prime rib or if you want the King you can get that for only $14.95. Of course you get a choice of potato, dinner roll, salad, vegetable and au jus for the dippin. I've loved Dave's for years, but haven't loved it over the past year. The food is still outrageously affordable, but I've been so disappointed these past few visits. Dave's is a great place to sit and to drink. By all means, go there to drink a beer after work. Dave's is not a good place for conversation as it is always loud. Do not go there to catch up with old friends over dinner. If you eat, be prepared. Be prepared to always get onions even if you very, very specifically ask for no onions. Be prepared to wait much longer than you would expect for simple bar food. Be prepared to forage for your own silverware/condiments/drinks because nobody will check on you after your food is dropped off. I almost always end up going to the bar to ask for my food bill long after finishing what I can cover with ketchup enough to choke down. Burgers and fries have really gone downhill over the years.
