Luv their burgers, but had chicken and it was not good. Over cooked and dried out. The chicken piece was small, it was like I ate a bread sandwich with lettuce and tomato. My brother-in-law talked up this place to us so my husband and I were sure to go when we visited from CA. It is walking distance from his house, a big plus! It's a cool hole-in-the-wall type bar. We've only tried the cheese curds which were really good! We were also introduced to a yummy shot that we still talk about and take often, 2 years later! It's called Chuck Norris. We loved it so much that we bought the ingredients to fly home with us. We can't get the energy drink where we live so we buy it on Amazon. We will go back again when we return. :) read more

We love going to Hoppers on Monday nights. That is their "burger" night- not only great on the budget but the burgers are fabulous!

I love Hoppers. I'm not a bar person and I only come seldomly to enjoy a good burger and the staff still remember my name. This is the first time I came on a weekend. Upon entering I was approached by a larger individual who asked me for ID. I immediately provided it and attempted to make a joke about what I.D. stands for - I will admit I have a dry sense of humor and it is a Norm McDonald joke RIP. He seemed angry but anyways about thirty minutes later he came outside while I was smoking a cigarette and informed me that he had multiple complaints about me and that I had to leave. I had exactly one negative interaction in the interim which was with a drunk individual who called me a douche bag for not opening the back gate after a girl in his party had first asked me to hand her a scooter she had left. I non-chalantly told him to go f himself as I could not perform two tasks at once. This is the only individual I could see potentially making a complaint against me as it was my only interaction in the limited time I was there. I know better than to argue as I do understand it is their establishment and I will leave upon request. However, I do feel it is to their detriment because I am a respectful and loyal patron to establishments that deserve it. The bouncers name I found out by calling back and speaking to a bartender who had no knowledge of my barring from the establishment and also informed me usually the bar staff were in charge of trespassing ubdesirable patrons. He is a heavy-set individual named Trevor. Hoppers is a great bar and I may return but Trevor's attitude was incongruent to the level of service I know Hopper's has and left such as sour taste in my mouth to validate the two star review. Servers are nice and efficient. Food was bomb for the most part. We ordered the TATOR NACHOS=BOMB & CHICKEN WINGS they come plain with sauce on the side, too hard to eat but they tasted decent. drinks were perfecto! Enjoyed lunch with co workers. This visit I tried mushroom and Swiss burger, it was delicious! Handmade patty, really good quality beef, fresh mushroom and great Swiss cheese. We stopped in for the first time after shopping and really enjoyed both the food and service. Each of us had an excellent burger (bacon-cheese for me and mushroom & Swiss for my wife) and a mound of our side of choice; my wife had the onion rings and I had the cheese curds. The vibe was cozy and in the late afternoon when we were there, it felt more family oriented than bar scene. Their burgers are now on our list of "where to go for a really burger". We took a day trip to Waconia in search of Bloody Mary's and burgers. Old reviews and Hopper's website indicated they offer a Super Bloody on Sundays, so I was a bit disappointed when the Bloody showed up with just two olives. I later saw one come out with more toppings, so maybe I should have asked for something more specific? Or better yet the server could have given us the options. The Bloody was tasty however. For the food, we ordered cheese curds for an appetizer. The portion was huge and the curds were tasty. I got the Wildcat Burger which comes with their house-made Zesty sauce. Man, I could drink that sauce by the gallon. Even if you don't get the burger, get some zesty sauce on the side for dipping. The burger was huge and delicious. The 1/2 pound patties are clearly hand made in house. And they offer a ton of options for sides. I went with the chips and cheese (What can I say, I'm a sucker for gas station nachos!) I will be back and next time I'll be more specific about my bloody order! read more

Heard a lot about Hoppers. Finally tried it. Was not disappointed. My wife and I split the Hickory Burger w fries. I'd say the burger was solidly good but not the best I've ever had. Wish there had been more BBQ sauce on it. Tip for a newcomer. Ask for extra BBQ sauce. Fries were good but again not the best. Good price for the beer on tap. Better than that, my wife had a Mojito. She liked it. I liked it because it's the best priced Mojito in the entire Metro area by far. Almost the same price as my beer. That never happens anywhere else. Pub atmosphere was ok. The bar stools at the bar and pub tables are very comfortable. Nice cushioning for back and rear end. The regular tables had chairs that I'd say didn't look as comfortable. While I am a vegetarian and cannot speak to the quality of their burgers, I can tell you that no one, I mean no one makes tots like Hoppers. Forget about ordering tots anywhere else - they are the stuff of amateurs. Pair your tots with a nice cold beer and you're good to go. I could eat them all afternoon but, you'd have to roll me out of the place afterword. The tots are that good. On a Friday evening, you can go watch the younger set (I'm dating myself, I know) act just like you did before you had kids. Was in Waconia with Mom, she is in her 70s and wanted to go back to her birth home- I am a life long Californian. She had not been back since 1961. While getting a coffee, I asked the locals where a good place to eat was, they suggested Hoppers for the burgers. On the return visit, a couple of days later, we went there and had a 'glen burger'. It was awesome, mom said it was the best she ever had. I put it in the top 5. Thanks to the people of Waconia, you were gracious and nice to indulge us on the trip down memory lane! read more

People arriving after us have their food and done with their meals. The one bartender when asked made it seem like It is my fault that after an hour we still do not have our food. I could see if I was being rude but not sure why i have been treated this way by this particular person on the staff. As for the food i was told to order a burger and I went with the grilled chicken California style and tots. Disappointing dried out flavorless chicken along with the dried out crumbling bun. Salt could not even help which is something i never do with my food. Should be used in the cooking of a protein and if done right not needed by the guest. As for the cheese curds they are nothing special. Typical bar/pub brand. The chicken tenders were moist and fine flavor profile and the honey mustard was the bomb. In hindsight I should have put the honey mustard on my sandwich to rescue it. The food gets a 2 1/2 and the service gets a 2 due to the persons attitude towards myself. In spite of the quirky service, I like the place.The wife an I went to Hoppers on the rare occasion we get out without the kids. This was Saturday afternoon, they weren't busy. We ordered drinks and the big soft pretzel special. The Surly Furious arrived promptly and cold, as did the diet coke (but who cares). The waitress brought us three pretzel bread sticks and explained that the cook didn't know what the special was, but that we would like the bread sticks. I am fine with that, and we liked them. To order the food I went to the bar, seemed faster. I ordered a burger to split, and the big pretzel special. We got the bread sticks again, and something about the cook still didn't know. I had an Oktoberfest. The food was good, really good burger bun, I thought the patty was a little small. I went to the bar to get a refill of the diet, but exercise is good. We finished and I went to the bar to pay, I didn't want to trouble her to come to our table. Went in for my Saturday ritual, a pitcher of beer, when I asked for it the bar tender told me that it was illegal to sell a pitcher of beer to one person. I explained to him that I'm in there almost every weekend and have not been told that before there or at any other bar. He went and got it for me and he told me "If you come back here and ask for this again I'm going to have you talk to the owner" in a very threatening tone. I looked through the state's liquor laws and could not find anything that states that selling a pitcher to one person is illegal. I will not be coming back and I will advise everyone I know to do the same. Super dissatisfied with the customer service. read more
