A hidden gem! We're from out of town and saw this on our map and knew we had to check it out. We contemplated between sitting inside or out in the back as both looked really fun. We decided to sit inside and it was a medium busy for a Monday night after work. It seems like they have a huge space & would be great for an event or just getting together with your friends. I really appreciate how large the menu is and a variety of substitutions. I went back-and-forth between the fish and chips and the mac & cheese. I ended up going with the mac & cheese but I wanted to remove everything as the veggies that came on it were "chefs choice" & I wasn't sure what that would be. I also wasn't sure about paying $24 for fish but I would like to try it in the future. My Husband got the smoked brisket sandwich and loved it. There were a few servers in a bartender working and all were very friendly our server came back frequently and gave us some tips on how to make our meals the best for us. One thing to note is I would recommend is more vegetarian options, as it sucks paying the same price for mac & cheese with pulled pork but getting no pulled pork. The Whiskey Jar is in a recently renovated historic building on River Street in Delano and has a really cool vibe to it. They have a broad selection of whiskey and a good selection of beers on tap - we had an Old Fashioned and a Castle Danger Cream Ale. We started out with the Smokey Whiskey Wings which were probably the best thing we ordered, followed by the Irish Rueben, a Chicken Sandwich, The Big Messy, and the Double Bacon Smash. Everything was really good, the service was quick (particularly for a Friday night), and the staff was very friendly. We will be back again! read more

Currently here. Never had worst service in my whole life. Our waitress hasn't checked in on us for 30 minutes. We're sitting here like idiots while she lives it up with the other table. We tried flagging her down to tell her our 11 month old's Mac and cheese is undercooked and an another waitress saw us and walked away instead of getting our waitresses attention. Also $12 for a watered down old fashioned is crazy. Also forgot our silverware and when I asked the host for some, the host looked at me like I was crazy. read more

We've given this place multiple tries since opening, hoping for them things would get better. But consistency just isn't there after a year. Last night we decided to give it another shot, it was so disappointing. I had the fish and chips- waste of money. It had no flavor, the fries were cold and unsalted, the fish was over breaded and soggy on the inside, and the coleslaw tasted like it was cabbage in some sour cream...maybe? No flavor either. My husband's bacon burger was okay, not great, but not the worst. Beer was good, of course. Bourbon cocktail was just okay. Service was bad too. Multiple staff, including our waiter walked past our table when we were seated for nearly 5 minutes without being greeted, and the pattern continued throughout our duration. No one checked to see if we needed more water or other drinks. It was so disappointing. The space is great and has potential for sure but needs to work on service, food, and drinks. read more

Every time I come here - all four times - there's been an issue with the food. The last two times there have been dogs - not service dogs - in the bar area, some aggressively barking. The owner has been seated at the bar, welcoming the dogs. The manager, who was manning the bar, didn't do anything about the dogs in the bar area. The food is okay, but nothing you'd want to come back for. The old fashioned's are from a mix and not memorable. You'd be better off going to Dave's or Brickside for a better meal. read more

The food isn't what we had expected. It was "just okay"We reserved a table for four and they sat us at was had to be the smallest table they had. We had to ask multiple times for a drink or drink refill. This might be a good place to sit at the bar, but not for dinner with friends. Our mixed drinks were great! Came here with a group of 5 on a Friday night at 6pm without a reservation for their fish fry that was advertised on their Instagram page. Totally get that it would be busy, we were told 45 minutes-1 hour wait time. Decided to wait at the bar and order an app. Once an hour had gone by, went back up to the host stand to inquire about a table, and they said it would be a little bit still, meaning about 15 minutes. Came back 15 minutes later, and was told it would still be 20-30 minutes. Super frustrating that a restaurant that's been open a few months doesn't know how to give people accurate wait times. We finally spotted an open table and were able to get seated right before we almost left to a different restaurant. Only stayed since we're super hungry at this point. The only reason this review got 2 stars is because the fish fry was good. The restaurant management was very sub par. Disappointed as a Delano resident who really wanted to like the new place in town. read more

OK, I went back for a fourth time, still trying to find something good to eat. Ordered the Brisket nachos, Very little toppings, lots of chips as advertised, but not enough toppings to use them all, overall it had a very dry taste, very little cheese and Pico de gallo on it, it was tasty but had to order a side of both of them, just brought us 1 vert small cup container of each, and still lots of chips left, the meat was tasty, but a little tough. OK, the only thing I now find worth going back for is the wine, but at $11 a glass not worth it, the waitress was great when you could find her, had to go track her down, the place was pretty empty. All I can say is the people that rave about the food there, have to have very low expectations, Especially at these high prices. If your just going there to drink, an OK place to go. They must think Delano has lots big money makers to charge such high prices for everything. We don't live out this small town because we are rich. No real need to go back. read more

The restaurant aesthetics makes it a fun place to visit. The speed of wait staff once seated is very slow. It took over 5 minutes to get our order of drinks and it was a Wednesday night. the food took half hour wait time as we were watching everyone getting food that was seated near us. Found out that they cancelled our order in error. After the apologies they did remove our drinks which was 2 lemonades was removed from our bill. Seems like they are still disorganized at the Delano location and they did run out of aioli sauce and gave a substitute though. Hopefully they get the staff up to speed along with chef staff as instead of having an hour dinner it was 2 hours read more

The atmosphere was good, and the server was very friendly. Unfortunately that is mostly the extent of the positives. 1. Our first drinks were very subpar, and kind of weak (watered down?). They did not have everything added for ingredients as described on the menu. 2. I ordered a Juicy Lucy burger, only there was no cheese in or around the burger at all. It was cooked correctly and presented well otherwise. 3. My second drink was incorrect, it was a like a whiskey sour, and I ordered their Gin Citrus drink. They took it back and made me the correct drink (this time it was pretty strong!) 4. For the area, a $90 tab for two people (after a $10 tip), is pretty steep compared to the other options in town. All-in-all pretty lack luster for a first experience, and when a majority of your menu items are all $15 or above, you kinda need some effort towards improving. It started off a little rough with not getting seated with in the time they quoted. But Bee the bartender was amazing and made sure the service was turned around and even helped out. I was excited to finally try this place out. My husband and I went for dinner and drinks for my birthday and were wildly disappointed. We came on a Saturday night and the place was packed - which in my eyes is a good thing. We ended up getting a couple seats at the bar and were excited to look at the drink menu. Was very disappointed in the selection of drinks as we were hoping for more selection as "Whiskey" is in the restaurant name. I ended up ordering the Pesto Chicken Pasta and my husband wanted the Mac & Cheese but come to find out, the restaurant had run out... (should never be an issue on a busy weekend night). He ended up getting a burger instead. When the food finally came (about 30-40 minutes) it was horrible. While the pasta had a good pesto flavor, my chicken was very, very dry, and my husband's burger was very charbroiled. We took about 2 bites and asked for our tab.
