She had been there less than 24 hours when they called to tell me they found her dead in an outside lot. The vet suggested that perhaps she had an undiagnosed condition, but if that were the case, he is the one who missed it because he was her vet from the time she was a puppy and she was seen by him regularly. She had never had any serious health concerns. Our dog was athletic and played in our yard every day. When I went to pick up my dog's belongings, I asked to see the place where she died and was shown a dirt lot about 10' x 10' with no shade. I was there at the same time of day when I was told my dog died. There was a large dog turned out in that lot when it was shown to me and he had no water. The bucket, which I presume had been filled with water for the dog, was fairly small for a large dog and probably too tall for a small dog to reach. It was narrow at the bottom and wide at the top and had been knocked over. I saw no evidence of a water stain on the dirt, so can only assume that poor dog had been without water on a hot summer day in full sun for quite a while. I asked the attendant repeatedly to please give the dog some water, but she did not do so while I was there. After seeing the conditions under which dogs are kept at this kennel, I can only conclude that my dog probably died of heatstroke from sun exposure and lack of water. I was also told no one attempted CPR on my dog. I used this kennel because it is run by an animal hospital whom I formerly used as my veterinarian, though I obviously will not be using them going forward. I trusted that they would take good care of my dog while I was away. I had never thought to ask to tour the facility because I assumed -- now I know wrongly -- that they would provide excellent, quality care. When you arrive at the kennel, you can see the nice, large fenced lots that have grass and trees off to the left and that is where I assumed my dog spent her time outside. What you don't see is the small, dirt un-shaded lots they have in the back. If I had known those existed, I never would have left my dog in their care. If you use this kennel, I recommend that you stop immediately. I met with the vet and the kennel manager to advocate for several changes including automatic dog watering dishes that are fixed in place and shade tarps for outside lots with no trees that get full sun. Whether they will implement the changes to avoid having this tragedy happen again, I don't know. Our family is devastated at the loss of our beloved dog. We don't want our precious girl to have died in vain, so I wanted to get the word out to the community in hopes that this does not happen again. I know now that I should tour a place before trusting that the facilities are safe and meet the minimum standard for access to shade and water and I recommend that you do the same.

Lack of employees, trucking issues, over seas shipping issues, upcoming elections, and of course higher taxes." -- The economy is better now than it was a year ago... Why was this mentioned?? This feels like you're perpetuating a certain narrative like it's the economy's fault for the below issues. -- Trucking / over seas shipping issues... To me this should only impact INVENTORY, so if you're out of something then you're out of something. What happens when a pet store doesn't have my dogs food? I go to another until I find the specific brand that I need. -- Upcoming elections... YEP! I totally see why that would impact a dog kennel business Say no more, makes total sense to me. I assume the prices would magically lower if Trump was in office, huh? "The cost of employees has increased considerably over the last two years. We are so indebted to staff and want to keep the staff we have as they are excellent and we could not be more proud of the team we have built." -- I don't know what to say about this, every time I drop off my dog there's high schoolers working and likely an adult at the front counter.. He was very helpful in describing the services he provides, and I had an immediate feeling that this was going to work for well us. We set up the dates for the service and a Meet and Greet date a few weeks prior to the trip. All the communications were easy and timely. Steve came by our house for the Meet and Greet and we had a great conversation about all the aspects of what he would provide, which was more than just feeding and looking after the cats. He also met the cats, and we could tell right away that he has the personality that knew how to deal with skittish cats, which one of ours is. Steve's first visit was later in the day on the day we left on our trip. He did a check in with us through a text including photos of the cats. After the first day he visited both in the morning and evening. During the second days visits he texted us both in the morning and evening with short notes and photos. This was all very reassuring to us and greatly appreciated. When we returned all at the house was great and the cats were doing well. We let Steve know we were back. They are really "blossomed" the past year and a half in terms of offering tons of fun theme days where you can get photos of your dog dressed up and participating in activities (bunny ear photos and Easter egg hunt for Easter!) They also post fun updates to social media and have tons of cameras so you can check in on your pup throughout the day if you choose. They have helped me out soooo many times including when I have been running late for the pick-up or reaching out for a late reservation or an add-on service. The ability to be able to have Nora get groomed, nails clipped, and her anal glands expressed all during a regular day at daycare is amazing and so convenient. When we moved just over a year ago, we literally made sure to keep in mind the distance between us and Wag 'n Woofs because bringing her elsewhere was not an option.
