They were amazing!!! After a bad experience at a chain groomer I was hesitant about bringing my dog to another groomer, fearing she would be too scared. When I made the appointment they were patient with my questions, and asked for details on my pets anxiety in an effort to make her experience a nice one. It was our last visit for grooming for our full size Goldendoodle, as we are moving. Joan our groomer and owner for many years, listens to our needs for our older dog. There's nothing not to love about this place. The staff is wonderful and thoughtful, very eager to please. It's evident how much they love dogs. My dog has attended doggie daycare/playtime there for a year and a half. It's the highlight of her week and she has not picked up any bad habits (something I've seen at other places). All of the pet owners are friendly and conscientious about keeping their dogs in control in the lobby. It does get awfully exciting & a lot of tail wagging for the pups as they wait their turn to enter the lower level dog play area! In the wintertime, it's the perfect way to let your pal burn off energy and come home happy & pooped. My Rosie goes right to sleep when she gets home and normally sleeps a lot the following day too. I've also used their grooming services and have only compliments to the staff. Sometimes they are booked out a few weeks, but put your name on the waitlist as they are really good about calling to see if you can take a newly open appointment. I brought my puppy for a groom. And when I went to pick him up, he had a cut on his neck. They didn't mention the cut at all. All they said was that he wasn't being cooperative. Maybe he wasn't being cooperative because he was just cut?!? Anyways this isnt the first time they cut my puppy. On his 2nd groom appt. His ear also had a small cut. Which they didnt mention. Probably thought we wouldnt notice. After his appointment my puppy was whimpering on the way back home. Hes a very energized dog and he just sat around the house, not wanting to do anything. Wouldnt go there again. They blamed me for his cut because supposedly it wasnt on "on their notes" for the incident... read more

I have a 6 year old shitzu and we had been going to In the dog house for about 3 years now. Well 2 weeks ago my mom went to go pick up my dog for me, (let me mention he is the SWEETEST dog ever. ) and 2 lady's informed my mom that my dog tried to bite her ( my dog has been around MANY children And adults of all ages, never once tried to bite) and this is the second time he had tried to bite. They said that Infront of other customers and they were VERY rude about it. Needless to say my little shitzu will not be going back there and I won't be giving them anymore of my business. I am new to Northfield and my 8 month old Beagle, Willow, needed her nails trimmed. I wanted them done with a Dremel. Jacob did her nails with a Dremel, gave her a bath and took care of her annal glands. She is now a happy dog and I have a lovely smelling pup with short nails! I highly recommend this shop! The folks that work there are very nice and you can tell they really like dogs. Willow will be coming back every 4-6 weeks to keep her well groomed. read more

Just wanted to leave a quick review on this grooming shop! As all fur parents know sometimes from groomer to groomer they label things differently, for example a full groom vs bath - other than making sure to double check what your dog's appointment is for, this is a excellent salon that strives on customer satisfaction. Cute little shop, very professional and well organized front area. There was a miscommunication with my golden however the owner Joan had me come back in and made my golden absolutely adorable. We LOVE In the Dog House. All the staff is so friendly, they cut my little dog's hair so well, and their rates are very reasonable. I have recommended their shop to a lot of my friends and they have all been very happy with the services as well. They were able to train my sister's unruly dog as well and they were able to get him under control! I highly recommend checking them out the next time your pup needs a new hair-do. It's always good to know that you can drop your dog off, say "whatever you think will be cute," and the dog comes out looking cute! read more

We had just moved to Northfield and made a grooming appointment when our senior dog (14 years old) suddenly came down with vestibular disease (aka old dog disease). I called to reschedule his appointment and the folks were super understanding. When we arrived at the shop on the new date, still not his old self, our dog was more freaked out than usual. The groomer, Kari, had never met our pup before, but she was so sweet and patient with him. Everyone at the shop was super calm and accommodating and I can't believe Kari was able to give him such a nice cut & groom. In The Dog House was top notch. I highly recommend!! read more
