He did a really good job of diagnosing and assessing a number of things happening with me in just a short period of time. He also gave me a few really great adjustments and recommend recommendations for home that I didn't even realize I needed. In fact, I didn't even realize how weak certain parts of my body were until my visit with him. And now, I can't wait to come back. The whole process from start to finish with super simple: I booked online through Zocdoc, which was seamless. Diana, who works in the office, reached out to confirm almost immediately after and sent me the forms I needed to complete. I arrived for my appointment, and was seen pretty immediately. I had tweaked my lower back, lifting recently, and the pain I have now felt for almost a week is gone. On top of that, he was super nice! Diana at the front desk was also super nice! Looking forward to my next visit. Also helpful to note: there are appointments available as early as 6 AM. There's tons of free parking around the building on the streets. There is an elevator to get up to the suite on the seventh floor. Honestly, I should've started coming here months ago.

Dr. Wray has taken the time to explain the science behind everything that she does, always explaining what she is observing and offering options. I particularly appreciate that she treats the whole person, looking at general health, nutrition, sleep, emotions, and lifestyle. I've been working with her on some very serious pain issues and am tremendously grateful for the progress we have made. I strongly recommend to anyone seeking help for any type of pain. This is one office and team that is warm, welcoming, skilled and professional.

I'm writing this review because I…read moredidn't feel like I got much benefit from my appointments with Dr. Wray, and I was unnerved when some of the techniques/movements she wanted me to do were in direct contradiction with the instructions from my doctors. Dr. Wray approaches each session in the same way--she just checks your whole body for everything, and focuses on specific areas if something comes up. I had to remind her at least three or four times during each appointment that I couldn't do certain movements/activities because of the type of injury I was recovering from. "Oh, right! Right, you said..." she'd say, and move on to something else. I don't want to get into too many details in a Yelp review, but it's unnerving when it feels like your doctor might inadvertently injure you because she isn't familiar with your condition. Separate from that, I didn't notice any positive difference after sessions. I thought her office was clean and non-sketchy. Rebecca, the woman at the front desk, is very helpful. I did get several sales pitches for products from Dr. Wray, but that's not very unusual for any medical practice. Overall, I think if you need a minor adjustment, or have chronic alignment issues, I'm sure Dr. Wray is great. She just wasn't the right person for my particular ailment.

I was new to acupuncture but had been wanting to try it for a while. I am so glad I did! Taejean…read moreConverti listened carefully to my concerns - including lots of work stress, some back pain, and wanting better sleep. I also love that she has ideas for herbs to try if you're curious, as well as tips and tricks like what to eat for better sleep and pressure points you can try on yourself at home. She has a ton of knowledge and really cares about what she does and how her patients are improving. She has also followed up between treatments to see how I am doing, something few in western medicine are ever able to do. Love my friends and family who are western doctors, but it's usually not a thing that comes with the territory. By the way, I've heard different reports about whether acupuncture hurts, so I was wondering whether the experience would be comfortable (though if it worked, I would do it regardless). Some people I know say acupuncture can indeed hurt, but with Taejean it's very gentle and there's never pain - she really takes pride in making sure you are completely comfortable, explains everything, and listens to any feedback you have. The needles are much thinner than anything you'd see in other contexts and you don't really feel them at all. Once they're placed, you relax for about 20 minutes...and I mean relax. It's a very calm and peaceful experience and while falling asleep is a problem for me in life in general, I've actually drifted off a couple of times, which I'm told is pretty common during acupuncture sessions. I never thought I'd look forward to this, but I do. I've been to about ten sessions and although my insurance doesn't cover it and I am paying out of pocket, I will continue to go. I'm seeing subtle but real changes in my sleep, but the big difference is in my mood - I just handle everything a lot better and the badness wears off quicker. Oh, and everyone else I've interacted with has been great, too. Super kind and understanding the one time I didn't make it to an appointment on time (unlike major places in the DC area) and the space is lovely and relaxing. If you've been considering acupuncture, go see Taejean. This isn't a placebo thing - it's a "there's good science behind this and it works" thing.

Don't let the other reviewer turn you off. She obviously had a bad experience almost five years ago. My bet is that the practice is COMPLETELY different than it was in 2008. I came to Dr. Ward after struggling to get better at a massive orthopedic practice in DC. My injuries were not serious (no herniated discs or tears), but the pain was keeping me out of Crossfit and away from many of the athletic endeavors I enjoy. I got a cortisone shot at the old place, but eventually my pain came back. I found Dr. Ward through my Crossfit gym and boy was I lucky. Here's a rundown of my time here this year: 1) Making appointments is super easy and Ronald (at the Ballston location) is one of the nicest, most accommodating desk staffers I have ever encountered at a doctor's office. 2) Came in for my evaluation, which was followed by Xrays in the South Arlington office. Dr. Ward made a few chiropractic adjustments with my back then did pressure point stuff with my shoulder on this first visit--I immediately noticed a difference. Great start Dr. Ward. 3) I saw Dr. Ward twice a week for the next few weeks and did some physical therapy beforehand with their PT people. At every appointment, we discussed movements/positions that caused the pain and how I should be strengthening the small muscles to prevent injury. The training and mobility tips I learned from Dr. Ward were invaluable. 4) After about six weeks, I just noticed that my various aches and pains had dissipated almost completely. When I would feel pain, I also could understand what I did to cause it and what mobility techniques I could use to treat and prevent it moving forward. I'm sure you can tell by the review, but Dr. Ward is an excellent source for athletes (especially crossfitters). He is level 1 certified so he knows what you mean when you say, "Gee Dr. Ward, my shoulder really hurts after doing an AMRAP thruster WOD..." . In summary, give Dr. Ward a try if you want to get better and stay better for the long term.

Douglas Sims is not a healer; he's a hazard. I went in for a pinched nerve between my shoulder…read moreblades, but for reasons I still don't understand, he chose to aggressively adjust areas I never complained about: my neck, lower back, and hips. That should have been the first red flag. At the start of the session, he did something unusual; he rubbed CBD cream on my neck, which he hadn't done in previous visits. I now realize that likely masked the pain from what he did next. He adjusted my neck in a way that displaced a vertebra, which led to intense pain hours later. As if that weren't enough, he placed me on a shelf-like platform and repeatedly adjusted my hips, pressing down with force. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was straining to keep my posture aligned, causing tension throughout my body. When I finally relaxed, I noticed that my torso had twisted to the left unnaturally. Later that day, I took a warm bath and about five minutes in, the vertebra in my neck suddenly slipped back into place on its own. I instinctively twisted my knees to one direction, and my upper body and shoulder to the other; and my entire lower spine released with loud cracks, like twisted celery. It was alarming, but it confirmed something had been severely thrown out of alignment. The worst part is what happened last: he pressed the heel of his hand deep into my lower back and held it there for a sustained time. Since then, I've experienced ongoing shifting, discomfort, and instability in my lower vertebrae--issues I never had before that visit. It's clear to me that this wasn't just poor practice--it was reckless and unethical. He also pressured me to return monthly, which felt more about insurance billing than actual care. When I declined, it felt like the quality of his treatment changed--and not in a good way. I'm still dealing with the damage from that last session. Please, do yourself a favor and find a chiropractor who listens, respects your concerns, and operates with integrity. What happened to me should never happen to anyone else.
