Acupuncture has improved my elderly mother's life. Her treatment experience with Dr. Zhong has been excellent! I've observed that mother's body responds well to acupuncture, so I take her twice a week to eliminate the pains of gains of getting old, to include COPD and dizziness. Advanced Acupuncture Clinic has given her new treatment options other than drugs or inhalers. I am always looking for alternative methods to complement western treatments. I would recommend this business to both friend and stranger - and already have by word of mouth. Overall, acupuncture treatments have helped her minimize chronic inflammatory symptoms by calming down affected areas. In return, her quality of life has significantly increased. Dr. He basically kept trying to sell me a digestive enzyme product that can be purchased for less online. This place is a great place to go to if you are experiencing back pain. They are very knowledgeable of acupuncture and they can relieve your pain before leaving their office. However, their customer service is awful and very unprofessional. When you use your health insurance they over charged your co-pay. Even if you show them what your insurance company tells you to pay, they say your insurance company is wrong and they charged you what they want. This have happened twice and since they refused to refund me the money back I had to drop their service and report them to my insurance company. Unbelievable and mind blowing experience. read more

I like the office environment, clean and welcoming. She was good and gentle when applying the needles. But beware if you have to pay out of your pocket first and have them file the claim through your insurance. When it was time for Dr. Zhong reimburse me the money, she did not reimburse me the correct amount I was supposed to get reimbursed. The amount charged to me on my first and only treatment was a lot less than what they charged my insurance. When I called my insurance about what I paid and what they paid the provider, was a little more than what I paid, my insurance representative explained everything about the charges, and said that I was only responsible for my $15.00 co-payment. They also went to explain to me the exact amount Dr. Zhong was suppose to reimburse me once they get their money and if I don't get the correct amount reimbursed to call them back. Well, sure enough I didn't get the correct amount reimbursed. To make a long story short, in between calling Dr. Zhong and calling my insurance trying to resolve this issue was time consuming. My insurance representatives tried their best to help me solve the problem and make sure I get the rest of my money back. But I told them I was not going to pursue anything further, I was tired of going back and forth with Dr. Zhong and get nothing resolved with her. My insurance representatives were very nice. At least everything has been recorded on our conversations. Please be aware of one thing: if you pay with a credit card, they charge the patient the $2.00 fee. Also be aware they may sell you one of their products without telling you first and do not tell you that it is not covered by your insurance and when it is time for you to get reimbursed, you don't get that money back. When I called Dr. Zhong about this and asked why she didn't tell me this was not covered by my insurance, she said she mentioned it to me and I told her she didn't mention it at all. We went back and forth and finally I hanged up. I find it weird that the Dr. Zhong charged my insurance more than what I was charged when I paid out of my pocket and yet was not reimbursed the correct amount. Somehow they manipulate and change the amount they charge the patient than what they charge the insurance. As I mentioned it above, the amount they charged my insurance were much, much higher than what I paid out of my pocket and I got reimbursed less money. When I read other peoples review about Dr. Zhong, I experienced the exact same thing. Too bad. read more

The place seems good for the acupuncture treatment, however I only had one session and don't have any point of comparison. As mentioned by others, the way of dealing with patients/clients and insurance is very unprofessional and wasted my time and money. I had to pay out of pocket and they told me they would call my insurance, so I assumed I would get reimbursed. I now learned from my insurance that I was only supposed to pay 15$ as co-pay and will need to get reimbursed from the provider. I tried to reach them several times and still don't know if I will get reimbursed, but they will get a payment from my insurance in addition to my out of pocket payment. Even when talking to them, there is never any explanation. What is more they gave me an appointment in the week their office was closed. When I told them afterwards, they did not even apologize and simply said they have many patients and don't know about the appointment. I was in the office on the Friday before they closed the office, and they even suggested to schedule several appointments that week. Never did they mention that the office would be closed and they did not even acknowledge their mistake afterwards. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. They are probably knowledgeable acupuncturists, but I cannot recommend and will not go back. Stressful experience. read more

The doctors seem pretty nice and professional and the office environment is quite clean and new. I was treated by Dr. Zhong and she seems pretty knowledgeable and skilled and honestly I would've kept going back as a long-term patient if it wasn't for their billing error AND how they handled it. They seem to have no familiarity with how insurance billing works and overcharged me twice even though I tried to explain to them how I've already met my deductible for the year. Sure enough, I contacted my insurance and they told me I was overcharged. The worst part was how they handled the situation. Both Dr. Zhong and Dr. He tried to blame it on my insurance company and me, with Dr. He being especially offensive and saying that it must be my fault. They also kept making excuses - one day saying their receptionist is out sick, the next time saying their computer system is down, and never once apologizing for the mistake or taking responsibility for it. I have been seeing Dr He for about five years, first for pain management, but now I go monthly for overall balanced wellness and stress relief, (and aging as we do, he works on assorted new pains). I do not think it is a coincidence that my blood sugar and cholesterol levels have stabilized during this time. Dr He's resume is astounding. Trained in both western and eastern medicine, Dr He brings this well rounded knowledge to each treatment. Think about it, back surgeons come to H&Z for acupuncture to treat low back pain because they do not want anyone else cutting them open! Acupuncture is not a quick remedy, (although one time he cured a lower back spasm in minutes with just four needles). Acupuncture promotes regenerative health and whole body balance. It's not painful; as a matter of fact, it's nice to relax during a midday appointment. The office is professional yet with a heartwarming atmosphere. I will never know if their treatments work because after one visit I will not be back. BOOKING I found these guys an unusual way. I actually won a free visit as a door prize at an event. Apparently the hostess of the event is a patient with H&Z and they send each other business. I let them know when I booked that I was the door prize winner of the free treatment. The receptionist was friendly and helpful (although I wish she had confirmed the appointment like she said she would.) LOCATION It's important to know that this is not a spa environment, it is a medical one. You are walking into a very typical looking doctors office. I would probably prefer some candles, relaxing music, pretty surroundings given the nature of the treatment (honestly even the urgent care place I go to is more inviting), but maybe they want it to feel sterile so you trust the needles and everything are safe? I get that. TREATMENT I'm a yoga instructor and have studied the physical and energy body a good bit, so in the initial assessment I shared with the doctor that the stem of most of my hip and back pain was a shortened psoas, hip adducters and external rotators and that I needed help with those. maybe this is just my ignorance of how acupuncture works, but she didn't seem to event register what I was talking about let alone care. It was like, "ok, so we are treating you for back pain ?" I was a little frustrated that she seemed to want to give me a one-size-fits all treatment. The needles were painless and her technique was good. She asked if things hurt and she even used a really wonderful infrared light on my back. She left the room for 15 minutes with the needles in and after only a couple minutes my shoulders started hurting terribly. (They were in a weird position with a deep, unnatural position, but she had told me not to move at all.) Apparently she forgot to leave the pager with me. The pain got so excruciating that I finally called out several times but nobody came. THE REASON FOR A ONE-STAR REVIEW Everything above probably would have warranted about 4 stars, but here's why the bad review. Again, maybe I'm ignorant of it, but it seems to me anyone working with the body's energy should have their own in check. The doctor seemed very tightly wound, not a relaxing person to be around like you might expect from a masseuse or reiki practitioner. Well, I was right about her energy as I got to see first hand upon check out. She apparently had no recollection of giving this prize to the business I won it from. Instead of being polite to me and saying she would take it up with the person who gave it to me, without so much as consulting her husband or the other receptionist who could have been the ones to give it to the person who gave it to me, she went off the deep end saying she would NEVER give a free treatment. She got very emotional and started calling the person I won it from a bad person and a liar. She told her receptionist not to sell me any of the herbs I was going to buy from them because they were only for her patients and I was just somebody trying to take something for free. I was just like, can I pay for the stuff and let you two work this out among yourselves? I'm not saying she shouldn't be paid, but if there was a misunderstanding between her and the business that gave me the gift, I felt like they should have worked it out. The receptionist was new and clearly felt bad and embarrassed I had been dragged in the middle of this. Oh and this whole rant went on while a patient was mid treatment 6 feet away. I've suffered with dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cycles) for 8 years. My cycle had never been this way before, so it was a shock to suddenly start being this painful when I was about 18. The pain was unbearable. Sometimes I would end up at the ER, and even the pain meds wouldn't work. It got to the point were I had to take a pain reliever as soon as my cramps began, otherwise if I waited until they got severe, nothing would help. I came to see Dr. He after searching via Yelp, because I'd already gone to other acupuncturists and didn't find relief. From the beginning, I truly felt like I could trust him. He would ask questions to actually listen and just made me feel like he cared. After a consolation, he looked and me and said, "We are going to make you feel better." He is so passionate about his practice. After only my first session, I began my period a couple days after. With this 1 treatment, I didn't even need an ibuprofen. Obviously, I felt some discomforts, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. I can't even remember the last time I had such an easy period. If I'm already feeling this great, I am certain I will feel even more amazing after several treatments. I'm excited for what my future treatments will bring. Always a pleasure being here. I started seeing Dr Z. back in late March of this year. After the birth of my second child, two years ago, a few months later my hormones and my entire body started to feel strange and do crazy things. At first I thought it would be the fault of the Mirena IUD, but than after having it removed, I continued to have even worse symptoms. I was with Kaiser back than, so it was easy to go to other specialists to find out smth/anything ab what was happening to me. Right before my period, I was having extreme itchiness, half of my face was feeling swollen and red, I was getting cold soars on my lips, even strange soars inside my mouth. LOWER BACK PAIN After nearly two weeks in bed, with some relief from chiropractic care and actually passing out and throwing up from the pain caused by prescription medications, I went for my first acupuncture session with Dr. He. After my first session I was able to sit up and lay down without assistance; after my second session I was able to sit down for short periods of time with minimal discomfort; after the third session the only things I could not do were lean over or pick up heavy objects. My husband said he wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen it! I work hard and am lucky to be in good health and good shape which counts significantly towards the speed with which someone would respond to treatment, as well as the nature of condition. Equally impressive though is how Dr. He diagnosed many issues that contributed to my back pain and have been affecting my health overall without me even noticing it until he treated them. After suffering for several months with numbness and pain in my hands so severe it would wake me from a sound sleep, I reluctantly visited an orthopedic doctor. After asking me a thousand questions and charging me a thousand dollars, he "guessed" at what might be the cause and recommended physical therapy and more tests. I was very disappointed and unsatisfied with my "diagnosis" or lack thereof. After my appointment I sat is my car, close to tears and decided to google acupuncture.
