I had the worst lip filler done. Botox also lasted like two weeks LOl. My lips still look lumpy and white on the outer corners, it was a complete waste of a lot of money. I was VERY specific about wanting somebody with a LOT of injection experience. I did not get that. I still have weird dents in my upper lip, chunky lower mess on the bottom. When I went back to show the person who did my injections I showed her a picture of what lips looked like the last time I had them done. She tried to imply the messy outcome was because of my age, when my lips came out beautiful less than a year and half before. Overall it's as if the person was inexperienced. Also my Botox? Not sure? How can it only last a couple weeks? I never got to see the actual product. Also I noticed my lip vile had some in it still when she was done? Overall, again a lot of money for me, and it equaled to no results and a terrible outcome for my poor lips. Still purple, dented, lumpy and white in the corners Something seemed up with both product and the injector not having experience I requested. Deep regret. The only thing I was offered was removal of product? Because I wanted to waste 850 of my hard earned dollars? It seemed a bit unfair. read more

DO NOT DO IT! I had eyelid surgery (both upper and lower) to remove extra fat in the winter of 2017. Shortly after the surgery, a triangle shape of fat started form just below my eyes. My face looks like as I just got a bee bite: puffy and un-even. I thought it would go away in a few month (I was told to give 6 months to heal). 10 months later, I went back the office, he tried to use filler to smooth the area but it did not work. I never wanted to write this negative review but here I am. I had a face lift two years ago this October and am extremely disappointed on many levels. I interviewed two other surgeons but decided on Dr Magilke for his encouraging and engaging personality. He didn't deliver. I found the staff rather unfriendly and off putting before and after; I never received a call afterwards to inquire as to my wellbeing; and extremely disappointed in the results. I still have numbness on my neck and horrible scaring behind my ears. No one has said a word to me about how I look and my husband cannot tell the difference. I may consider a revision with another more qualified surgeon. Do your homework! This is an expensive and very painful procedure to be sure! You definitely want to look natural but also look younger otherwise, what's the point. . read more

Ive been thinking about posting a review or not. I had lower lid work done. One side is great and I have zero complaints with the one side. The other side is subpar and I am terribly disappointed on how I was treated when I had my follow up, I felt dismissed, in the way and not heard. I even waited a full year to make sure I wasn't still healing. I guess Im mostly disappointed that the work I had done wasn't cared about after words, just a reminder this stuff isn't cheap, Its a place that the vibe is they got there money and that it that. read more

My rating for Dr David Magilke is a 1 star. I had eye lid surgery and he didn't do a good job. Don't know if he was having a bad day or what and if he was he shouldn't of been doing surgery. He left bags in the corner of my eyes and the cut was not centered in the crease of my eyes and was left was a crooked scar that still shows on my eyes. And I went back to him and told him and he did nothing about it. Thing that ups sets me is he was recommended by Dr Robinson a very good plastic surgeon but he had to retire and gave his practice to Dr Magilke. WARNING!! I was hoping i never had to leave a review like this in my lifetime! In 2010 i went to Dr. Magilke for botox injections and have never been the same .I was hospitalized five days later with a life-threatening reaction that later was to be botulism poison.I fought for my life for two years and still have numbness,memory problems,tremor and other various neurological disturbances. I made the choice to only tell Dr.Magilke of my hospital stays and further problems(Ask for my money back,which i never received) instead of hire a lawyer and make sure justice was served.This was the second worse decision i ever made in my life... I wanted to share my experience with Dr. Magilke and his staff. I went in for a mini lift. A very good friend of mine worked for him many years as his surgical nurse. I chose him because she was particular and would not work for anyone that wasn't excellent. The heavily advertised doctors were in it for volume and $$$$ Dr Magilke was humble , confident and experienced. The staff was excellent . Very unprofessional. This review is for Kathy Hodge Kramer, the nurse injector who works on Fridays. I have met children with better communication skills and integrity. The positive: she has a decent artistic eye when she bothers to try, although spotty results have never lasted more than a month or two, at best. I've wondered if products sold at this office are genuine. I have also had to return several times to have uneven results corrected. My last two experiences with Kathy prompted this review. I have never felt treated so poorly by a healthcare provider before. Visiting this office reminds me of that "mean girls" clique from high school who you avoided like the plague, and listening to the staff here openly gossip about other patients in front of me, including discussing their detailed medical situations in a shaming, catty manner always makes me cringe. Twice in a row, Kathy performed services that required specific follow up care. Both times I was unable to get an appointment as directed, due to her schedule, or vacation, or the cat ate her homework, or what not. I incurred expenses to have Kathy's work finished elsewhere both times. Ultimately a waste of time and money. And the receptionists don't return calls. Kathy may be artistic but is she human? She comes across in a heavy-handed, fake superior way that made me feel judged, uncomfortable and misunderstood. If your aesthetic is not exactly to her taste, she'll make you feel small, insult your intelligence, and presumably gossip about you after you leave, as she does with all the others. I'm not sure why she feels so qualified to order others to look a particular way or model their aesthetic desires and goals after her personal tastes. Kathy does not seem to appreciate or respect individuality. What is concerning is that this person has started an education program in PDX, to teach other non-physician injectors how to provide the same demoralizing results, and make patients want to disappear into the floor or run elsewhere for compassion, or corrections. Not OK. I think the only reason I kept trying to make it work here is because it's very close to my house, and because PDX lacks stellar providers in this area. Kathy's way of deeply insulting who you are, her lack of respect for patient privacy, and unwillingness to consider how her actions make patients feel simply comes across as dysfunctional and mean-spirited. Be aware that this provider also works at Dr. Workman's office in Vancouver. If you can get an appointment when you're supposed to, I am sure she will gladly make fun of you behind your back at either location. Just don't complain when the product wears off after a month and she refuses to address the result. read more

Hello. My first visit with Dr. David Magilke was prompted by an article I read in a local magazine. This was several years ago. My initial impression was one of welcome, as I was completely put at ease by the staff. This was unexpected, as I was in my sixties, began using fillers when I was around thirty, and have visited many clinics across the country. My past experience with first-time filler appointments, has been cold sweat apprehension. I credit the warm welcome at Dr. Magilke's office, to Jo and Karen, who have been with Dr. Magilke since day one. My first impression when meeting Dr. Magilke...he was genuine, down to earth, and most importantly, he truly listened to me. I have somewhat of a lopsided face and I know I present a challenge. After my treatment that day, I left Dr. Magilke's office totally amazed, and since then, have been more impressed with each visit. That is so many years ago and Dr. M still has my TOTAL trust, no matter what treatment/surgery we have embarked upon. He's the BEST! Dr. Magilke and his entire staff are like family to me. A few years ago, as word spread and Dr. Magilke became more and more in demand, along with my hectic schedule, I had to venture out and try another clinic. I had botox multiple times before I was referred to Dr. Magilke. I went 4 weeks before my wedding for botox. 2 days later I had a horrible migraine for 3 days and was bed bound. The botox failed to take!!! I went in for a follow up with the RN who did it and she offered to upsell me more botox. I declined and they refused to refund my money. I was devastated since I had wedding pictures and I wanted to look 'fresh'. I have since gone back to my original nurse and have had NO PROBLEM. I had a facelift and upper eyelid surgery with Dr. Magilke and I could not be possibly happier with the entire experience, as well as the results. I consulted with three different surgeons before choosing him--it's a major decision and I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the doctor, and could trust that I was in good hands. What a great decision it was! From the very beginning, I received nothing but the absolute best in care in every way possible. Everything about his practice is top-notch. His staff is unbelievably warm, welcoming, and friendly. They never made me feel like a burden or that I was asking too many questions. The doctor himself is also incredibly friendly, patient, and non-condescending (which can sometimes be rare among male doctors). I wasn't exactly sure which procedure/s I wanted so I came in three different times with tons of questions before my surgery. He never tried to push me, or rush me out the door, instead patiently walking me through exactly what to expect and helping to calm my nerves/make the right decision. I felt that he was actually listening to me and answering my questions rather than waiting until I was done talking to launch into a speech. Doctors are often known for having bad bedside manner, especially surgeons, however; Dr, Magilke is a personable guy who makes you feel at home and totally taken care of. He also just has a generally calming, gentle presence that makes you feel at ease. My surgery was eight days ago and so far everything about that part of the experience has been great, too. His office did everything they could to prepare me ahead of the surgery to get me ready and make sure I knew exactly what to expect. The day of, everyone was friendly and things went completely smoothly--I basically just went in, changed my clothes, and within 15 minutes or so I was in the operating room. A few minutes later, I was asleep due to anesthesia (injected painlessly into the front of my hand), and what seemed like 10 seconds later, I opened my eyes and was being wheeled out. Over the weekend, I had to call the office on two different occasions after hours. One time I was in pain and another time I had a question about my medication. Both times I was immediately connected to the doctor who personally answered the phone within a minute or two. He was patient, answered my questions, and at no time gave me any hint of being annoyed that I had called him after hours, or in any way seemed rushed/bothered. The next day, his office sent me flowers with a sweet card wishing me a swift recovery--what a nice, personal touch. I still have some swelling but I can already tell that the results are great, too. I am very pleased! My eye stitches came out yesterday and I can see my eyes again--no more droopy, tired look. I am thrilled. My face and neck is smooth and, while still swollen, it has already taken years off. I know that over the next few weeks, it will only get better and better. I was nervous before but I am SO extremely happy I made the decision to have this surgery and to go with Dr. Magilke. His office only does face work -- no breast augmentations, tummy tucks, etc. so he is highly specialized in these specific procedures and it shows. He is a perfectionist and an artist with a clear skill who's been doing this 20+ years. I would HIGHLY recommend Portland Face Doctor to anyone seeking cosmetic face surgery! read more

Regrettable rhinoplasty. Their office seemed great, nice staff. No after care follow up. Even after he thought there was abnormal swelling 2 weeks after surgery. The reason why was because he scooped out the bridge of my nose and actually left shards of cartilage in the tip. Now it looks like I have a hook nose. In their aftercare instructions it states there should be another follow up at 6 weeks post-surgery to recheck the healing process and take before and after pictures. He obviously knew he didn't want pictures after seeing what he left me with when removing the bandages. It's very depressing...and a very expensive poor choice of doctor. read more

Kathy Hodge-Kramer has done injections on my face for 5 years and I am very pleased with the results. I rarely write Yelp reviews since they can be deleted by the business for a fee but after my last visit I feel compelled to share my experiences. She deserves the praise! Kathy has decades of medical experience as a registered nurse and as a paramedic and is therefore very skilled in anatomy and injections. She also adheres to the professional Hippocratic oath of "do no harm" and will not perform procedures that may distort or damage a clients appearance when it would be in her personal interest to "sell" more product if asked to do so. If you suffer from dysmorphia or hope to look like a inanimate object after treatment you should look for someone with less professional ethics and integrity for your treatment! Kathy assesses your needs based on your animation and listens to what you hope to accomplish, then gives her professional opinion as to how "severe" your perceived imperfections truly are before establishing a treatment plan that will make you look like yourself, just younger/ cuter/ calmer- you pick! I recently wanted to look less aged and a little more feminine and she hit the mark with a tiny bit of Botox and some filler around the mouth and lips, no discomfort and practically no bruising, back to work the next day without anyone being the wiser. I look like me, with a bit of a sexy pout and no nasolabial folds, but still able to laugh, frown and raise my eyebrows to make a point. I went to Dr. Magilke's office for botox Spring 2013. I have been receiving botox through the previous surgeon's office and NEVER EVER had a problem before. Dr Magilke's office had my records of the dosage and the injection sites from previous surgeon. Ten days after receiving the botox from nurse Jo, I had a debilitating migraine for 2 days. Over the next 5 days I noticed that the botox did not 'take' and I looked tired and saggy. My botox usually lasts 4 to 4.5 months!! I went to Dr. Magilke's office 4 weeks post to see if I could get a touch up. I am to be married this week and I wanted beautiful photos. I was blown off and told my dosage was far too low! I suspected injector error and through my research I found this to be true. I will never go back! I am extremely upset that through my careful timing of treatment for my wedding and my pictures that I am going to have to rely on photoshop. read more

I went in with a friend to see the process of Juvederm placement, just intending to have Botox administered that day. After my quick consult with Dr. M, where he said that my features would support larger lips, I decided to have 1 vial of Juvederm administered. My appointment for the Botox was with Lauren, the nurse, and I had reservations about her doing the Juvederm. I was assured by the office staff that Lauren was VERY good and did the fillers and Botox for the staff in the office "all the time." During my injections, I was questioning Lauren's technique as she was placing the Juvederm in my lips, but not smoothing it out. I told her that I had seen Dr. M smooth the areas, greatly, after each placement. She said that "every injector has a different technique" and that "one isn't better than another; just different." Being the new-b that I was, I accepted her explanation. When I left, I felt several bumps/lumps in both upper and lower lips. I called the office to let them know that I could see the lumps along my lower lip and felt the lumps with my tongue in my upper lip. I was told that it was normal and that the product would be absorbed by my body and the bumps would even out. Eight days later, I realized that I had ptosis in my right eye due to improper Botox placement; too close to my eyebrow. I called the office and was told to wait two full weeks after treatment to come in to the office to be seen by Dr. M, as to allow the full effects of the Botox and Juvederm to settle in. I was very upset, as ptosis makes the eyeball very heavy and difficult to focus. My smile was lumpy and uneven. I looked and felt botched. When I went in to see Dr. M about the ptosis, he told me that it was unfortunate and is extremely rare. I let him know that my research revealed that it was injector error that caused the problem and was not just an "unfortunate incident." He disagreed and said that the same nurse could inject the exact same way with the exact same amount of Botox and there may not be the same complication. He prescribed me Lotemax eye drops (that cost me $30). I also discussed that my lips were uneven and lumpy. He responded with "I think they look good. She did a beautiful job." I disagreed. On the way out, his assistant, Julie, told me that she experienced ptosis about twenty years ago, but not to worry because it was not in "this office." I found that ironic. After 24 hours of using the eyedrops with no relief, I Googled the eye drops and I couldn't find anything that showed that Lotemax was used for the treatment of ptosis. I called the office, again, to let them know that I had not experienced any relief and questioned the drops that were given. I was told that "if that's what the doctor prescribed, then that's what I should use." My frustration was growing, as I had been very patient throughout this process. Another several days had passed with no relief and my patience ran out. I sent an email to the office telling them that the experience that I had to endure was unacceptable and that I expected they would fix this issue, immediately. The next week I went in, again. Julie came in and asked to see the bottle of Lotemax drops that I was prescribed and I told her that the drops were not the Apraclonidine that is usually prescribed. She went online then left the room with my bottle of Lotemax. About, 15 minutes later, Dr. M joined me in the room. He said that he was embarrassed that the wrong drops were prescribed and apologized for the inconvenience. He refunded my Botox purchase and the cost of the drops and prescribed Apraclonidine. In addition, he attempted to correct my lips with another vial of Juvederm. I was momentarily pleased that he seemed attentive to my concerns for the first time during this horrible experience. He pulled quite a bit of filler to the center of my upper lip as to fill the gap that Lauren created. He lifted one corner of my mouth, but not the other. I question him about the asymmetry and he responded with "they will even out as the product is absorbed." A couple of weeks later, after the swelling subsided, the asymmetry was still undesirable. I had so much product in the center of my upper lip that I looked like I had a fat lip. I made another appointment to see him to address the undesirable shape of my lips. At the apt,he was disinterested in my comments about the shape and said "this is the best I can do" when I asked him to fix them. I told him that I wasn't pleased that I would have to pay someone else to correct them. He said that he thought that they were the best that they could look and that if I had them fixed that they would still be asymmetrical as everyone has asymmetry. I told him that if the side that was turned up was filled to match the other side that it would look much better. He disagreed. I left the office infuriated. All of the mess that was caused by this office is completely unacceptable. I had my lips fixed, at my own expense by another provider. read more

Dr. Magilke was recommended to me by a local dermatologist, who said he is honest and effective. My experience with the Dr. and his office was very positive. The staff is supportive, professional and patient focused. Dr. Magilke is the same. His advice is not revenue focused like most doctors in offices for cosmetic enhancement. My face had been somewhat disfigured by an inexperienced plastic surgeon dabbling in fillers. I asked Dr. Magilke for his opinion, and we ended up agreeing on a comparatively low cost procedure to see if it will help tone down the worst of the deep creases that had been disfiguring my appearance and causing me great embarrassment. His solution was cost effective and his work was carefully geared to cause me as little discomfort and stress as possible. I have had surgeries and fillers over many years by many well trained and poorly trained medical personnel. The professionalism of Dr Magilke and his office staff was the most professional, supportive and reasonably priced I have experienced. I highly recommend the doctor and his office. read more
