I woke up this morning so rested without a headache, the guard fits perfectly. I was really surprised that it took zero time to get used to. I wore it last night for the first time and fell right to sleep in it :)! It's really comfortable and sort of a minimalist design, not bulky at all compared to other guards I've tried over the years. This one is very durable and cute. It snaps in place on my upper teeth. I noticed this morning while I was waking up, I was physically unable to clench or bite down on one side like I normally do. Amazing, it works like a supportive brace. Previous night guards I gave up on because they hurt and didn't help at all, very uncomfortable and couldn't sleep at all in them. I highly recommend this particular type of night guard. Dr Chamberlain explained the importance of wearing it only for a specified number of hours at a time, as well as instructions for cleaning it/caring for it.

Please read my experience with dental care at the Smile Center as a warning of how things can go wrong at this dental office. I live in Florida, but spend the summer in Europe. I always have a routine dental cleaning in April before I leave. My previous dental office moved to another city. For this reason, I registered with Dr. Ashley Wagler at Smile Center. I had a mandatory new patient exam scheduled for April 7, two weeks before a dental cleaning appointment. I didn't have any toothache, but Dr. Wagler aggressively talked me into getting crowns. One of the crowns in the treatment plan was tooth 31. The temporary crown was placed the next day. The day after, I had pain in the lower right quadrant. I informed the office about the pain and requested the dental chart. In the past, the dental chart was always included in the treatment plan. To my surprise, the dental chart showed that the position of 32 was empty, and the wisdom tooth was placed in position 31. I was unable to discuss this error right away because Dr. Wagner was out of the office until April 14th. When she returned, I learned that the crown is ready for the wisdom tooth. There was no apology for errors on the treatment plan and dental chart. I pointed out that she didn't discuss with me an alternative treatment option: removing the wisdom tooth. Dr. Wagler's answer was: "For me it was only one option." Every day I had tooth pain and woke up often at night because of it. The placement of permanent crowns was scheduled for April 17. Just before cementation, Dr. Wagler handed me a consent form to sign. I asked for a written statement about covering the costs of wisdom tooth removal in the event of problems with this tooth. Dr. Wagler refused it. She angrily said that she would place the temporary crowns back. At that time, this option was not feasible. I only had a week before my flight to Europe, so there was no time to visit the new clinic. After the permanent crown was placed, the pain did not go away. Dr. Wagler said pain can last up to a month after the crown is placed. It's been three months, and I still feel pain when cleaning my wisdom tooth with a water irrigator, drinking cold drinks, and taking hard bites. This is a highly stressful and unfair situation to be in. I am upset, anxious, and I am looking for ways to protect myself. I hope Dr, Wagler will take responsibility for her dental malpractice.

Going into my first filling, I actually felt confident because of how positive that initial experience had been. Unfortunately, today's appointment was the complete opposite. From the moment he walked into the room, he was cold and dismissive. I tried to joke that I wasn't ready yet, hoping to ease my nerves, but he didn't respond. I reminded him that I get very shaky from local anesthetic, and instead of offering reassurance, he said, "You've had a lot of dental work. This is all we've got. You'll be fine." During the procedure, he placed and tightened the thin metal matrix band around my tooth. As soon as it was tightened, I could clearly feel it digging and stabbing into my gum line. This wasn't pressure--it was sharp, localized pain exactly where the band was pressing against my gum. I told him I was in pain, but he argued that it was "just pressure." No, it was pain. I tried to explain that it genuinely hurt, but he became irritated and told me there was nothing he could do about it. The pain continued the entire time the band was in place. At that point, I stopped saying anything and just lay there with tears running down into my ears while he continued working. His incredibly kind assistant quietly wiped away my tears and showed me more compassion than the person performing the procedure. After the anesthetic wore off, my gum remained sore, and I now have a cut along my gum line. After the procedure, instead of apologizing or acknowledging that I had a painful experience, Dr. Ledger asked if I had generalized anxiety. I told him no. It felt like he was trying to blame my reaction on anxiety instead of accepting that I had repeatedly told him I was in pain. I told him I would never come back. His response was, "Really? Wow." He then walked out of the room repeating, "Wooow." I want to be very clear that every other member of the office was wonderful. The front desk staff, hygienist, and assistant were all kind, compassionate, and professional. They deserve five stars. I genuinely feel bad that they have to work with what can only be described as a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality. I know Dr. Ledger personally responds to his reviews, so I'll say this directly: Do better. Patients shouldn't have to argue with their dentist about whether they're feeling pain. If a patient tells you something hurts, listen. Even if there's no alternative, empathy costs nothing. No one should leave a routine filling appointment in tears, be left with an injured gum, and then have their experience dismissed as anxiety. I told you from the very beginning that I was uncomfortable and afraid of dental work. Instead of helping me through that, you made one of my biggest fears come true.

They don't stack appointments, so if you show up on time you're usually seen right away. In fact, at my last cleaning I walked in about ten minutes early and they were already waiting for me. No exaggeration! If you want a dental office that's calm, organized, and refreshingly low-stress, this is the place. The atmosphere is relaxed, the hygienists are incredibly thorough, and Dr. Salazer takes the time to make sure everything is done right while keeping the whole experience comfortable and anxiety-free. On top of that, the front desk staff makes scheduling, check-in, and checkout quick and painless; and they laugh at all my bad dad jokes, which is always a plus! The office is easy to find, very clean and organized, and comfortable. The parking situation isn't too bad either; small parking lot with a couple of spots, but it's rarely full. In terms of experience, the level of respect and care that this office's staff exudes is unmatched. The women who work the front desk are kind and informative, and always greet me with a smile. The hygienist is equally as lovely and always does a great job with my teeth. The dentist is knowledgable, friendly, and never upsells products or services that are not needed. In other dentist offices, I've always felt like I had to deny so many unneeded services and products just to complete my appointment, and it really detracted from my experience and made me feel like my HCP cared more about making extra cash than giving me the care I needed. That has never been the experience here. It's hard to find health care providers that care about their patients as much as Dr. Salazar and staff do, and I will be going to them for the foreseeable future. I recommend them to all of my friends and family alike!
