I didn't do so before in fear of decreased quality of treatment if they were to read this. For context, I am a college student who comes from a lower socio-economic background. As such, I need to manage my finances heavily. I have often come across situations where they are not accurate with quoting me a price. For example, I had scheduled a routine cleaning/x-ray procedure. When I asked for the pricing, they told me it wouldn't cost me anything. After finishing, I wasn't informed of any cost and was even rushed to schedule another appointment. They said it was urgent and I shouldn't delay. I immediately asked the cost, and I was quoted a price of $40. I accepted the cost. However, after the procedure finished, I had a charge of $118. I was floored by this amount and the inconsistency between the amount quoted and the price which I needed to pay. While I do realize that it comes down to patient responsibility after billing for the insurance, paying approximately three times the quoted price caught me off guard. About a week or two later, I received a letter from Dr. Phillips in my mailbox. When I opened the letter, I was shocked to see that I owed another $91. I called their billing department and talked with Denise. When I asked about the charge, I was told that my insurance didn't cover both my cleaning/x-rays fully. When I asked further about this, she stated that they assumed, before they bill the insurances, that the cost would always be a 100% coverage. Since my insurance wasn't the 100% coverage that they assumed, they sent the charge to me. Also, they stated that I had another charge on top of the $118 beforehand that they didn't originally bill. After the terrible communication and customer transparency with costs, I have decided to cut ties with him. However, I might as well share three stories that made me further consider never going here again. 1) When I was chatting with one of the dental hygienists, I asked her what she enjoyed about her job. She proceeded to talk about how she gets to see people and how she loves kids. She said one child, in particular, comes in with her father who is a Humanities professor at UCI. This incident is a breach of HIPAA and is an unethical practice. 2) Likewise, when I was chatting with one of the dental hygienists, I asked her what her most interesting story as a dental hygienist was. This time, the hygienist led the conversation and was very talkative. However, she eventually steered the conversation to her medical route and medical care. She then started talking about Trump and how she supported him. She then talked about his policies and how she was for Trump's repeal of the ACA. When hearing all of this, I didn't want to respond as she was cleaning my mouth and was scared of talking further about it in fear of lower my quality of treatment. Normally, I wouldn't mind debating; however, I didn't want to do so in an area where my oral hygiene was at stake. 3) During the middle of my $118 procedure, Dr. Phillips told me he would be right back and left the room for a total of 35 minutes. I first thought it was going to be quick so I waited. I take out my phone at the 10-minute mark since I figured it was going to be a while. I read some articles on my phone for about 20 minutes. I eventually go on my Snapchat, post a picture of myself in the middle of my dental procedure, and said that my dentist was gone for 30 minutes. I thought this was rudely unprofessional and a waste of my time since I was scheduled to be there for only an hour and had class soon after. He comes back soon afterward and goes back to the procedure. I do realize that HIPAA exists, but he could have said he was tending to an emergency or something instead of leaving his patient in the dark. I still don't know what happened that day. Overall, I had several bad experiences and wanted to share them so you could make an informed decision.

My problem is with their billing department. During consultation I made sure that I knew which services I was getting done, and what the costs were gonna be. After everything was set and done, I was being billed for a bunch of procedures that were "supposedly" being covered by my insurance... That was a huge turn off for me. Being upsold and LIED to u, is not very nice!

The truth hurt a little but I'd rather have an honest surgeon than one who makes promises they can't keep. He told me he'd do the best he could and that surgery was still the most recommended direction to go. It's been a few months since surgery and he was able to successfully correct my finger. I'm so grateful for the outcome! I also want to mention how amazing his staff has been. Everyone I've interacted with both at the front desk and over the phone while scheduling appointments has always been kind and helpful. Thank you to Dr. Birnbaum and his team for the excellent care I received.

Even after having arrived early to the appointment. On top of that, the quality of care and attention falls short to what I could compare it to a drive thru at a fast food restaurant. I don't deny my ignorance, but i would assume as a doctor who's supposed to be knowledgeable... should also understand how to be able to educate their patients as to what they know in a way that the patients would understand. Rather than eye rolls while holding their noses pointed to the sky and having their egos well above their height.

I was told by the staff he's highly trusted and respected and I can see why. Had my first follow up appointment and he was more than willing to take all the time I needed to answer my husband and my questions. He made me feel like I was his only patient and especially lately I can tell you that's rare!! His office staff went out of their way to accommodate me and I was pretty pushy in my first interaction with them and yet you'd never know how I'd treated them by the way they treated me. In 2018 I had massive back pain that MRI shows a few disk and nerve issues..Months of PT and 4-5 different scans and Med treatments didn't enlighten the issue. Decided to consult with Neurosurgeon...I'm very thorough in research for Reviews/History/Med. Grades, Etc. led me to Dr. Bray specifically... I got an appointment within 1 week(I was shocked as highly reviewed he was at this. Good timing)...Consult needed a higher grade MRI that was right across the street.. FF 1 month into epidural..then results were so-so and follow-up...Dr.Bray didn't accept my pain signatures at that point with what we saw on the disk issues from the scans and started doing exploratory scans to see why my MRI's(so many at this point...lol) were not showing a bigger issue....So many other Dr's would have just sent you down the road.(I obviously already experienced this) and he didn't.... FF another month and we find a MASSIVE TUMOR(Pink Grapefruit size) on my left anterior thigh pushing nerves, arteries, etc....It was amazing the size of this thing not deforming the surface of the leg or getting noticed or thought of by anyone other than Dr. Bray, and also causing me no leg pain where it was located....He of course called me immediately upon discovery(Rough call...lol) and said get to an oncologist fast. FF to October 2018, Hoag,Irvine...I had a radical resection of my left anterior thigh after 6 cores showed malignant 11X7cm A.L.T....Jan '19 back at work... Today, finally time to write a very thorough "Thank you Dr. Bray!!!" Back issues are still there, but manageable for the time being...I will be of course using Dr. Bray if I ever do surgery off of the research i have done and my experience with his dedication from listening to patient and office staff. Seriously??? What type of Dr. do you want in your corner? Dr.'s are over-booked, over-worked, over-complained at, and staff never appreciated.... Suck it up buttercup!(Directed at complainers here)....This is the world we live in...Stop you're whining as it does nothing for you...A Dr. as highly praised as Dr. Bray will be in high demand...Staff may miss a call occasionally...Get over it and call again in this imperfect world. Think carefully and listen well before taking his advice on femur repair ! Ten months after…read moreinitial " emergency room" encounter and repair surgery , a long painful stay in extended care and another surgery for complete successful hip replacement by a competent surgeon I'm still suffering after effects of first surgery. Office staff rarely answer phone and if they do you are on hold for ever! Follow ups are hard to schedule!

The office is clean and the staff is competent and friendly. Dr Asbill was referred to me by my former physician when he went into the MD VIP concierge group and I could no longer see him. I highly recommend him.
