Bed bugs in boomtown cabin…read more About 30 mins after laying down the first night my arm started itching like crazy. I went to the bathroom to see what was itching and I had multiple bites in my arms. I went back with a flashlight to see the bed and sure enough all over my sleeping daughter and my bed were bed bugs. I mean 5-6 I could see. We left the cabin immediately in the night and I will say the camp was very helpful in finding us a new cabin and it was a much nicer cabin. I had sent them photos of the bugs in the bed so they confirmed with their pest control person they said. They refunded out first night stay (not both since we stayed in another cabin). I think the one night refund doesn't cover the cost of new sleeping bags, pillows, and clothes we could wear home since all the rest had to be thrown away or bagged up for the laundromat. Just check your beds early in the evening. I am so glad I was immediately itchy and we could address it before brining it home because not everyone reacts to their bites.

While it's a bit of a distance to the actual venue, it was well worth it for the quiet, calm and very relaxing environment. Beautiful property and I wish I had time to use the pool outside. We stayed in the Bella Vista honeymoon suite. I loved it. It allowed my husband and I to talk. There's a calming and clarifying vibe to the room and the place in general. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area 100%. I think about this place from time to time. I actually miss it!

THEREFORE, I searched ALL the YELP! photos I posted: I found a few photos dated 1/5/2019 as PROOF I did write my reviews for both locations. Disappointingly, ALL my photos AND reviews for James Marshall's Monument and Coloma State Park event MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED AFTER 2019! UNHAPPY! Anyway, in June 2022, I attended a Military Funeral I personally arranged at James Marshall's Monument for my deceased Army friend who passed away plus, instrumentally preventing his family from spending an egregious, heinous sum for funeral expenses, i.e., I contacted the Coloma State Park's Head Supervisor Ranger on my friend's family's behalf. Blessed, the Head Park Ranger Supervisor contacted my friend's family a couple days later who only had to pay $75.00 for reserving James Marshall's Monument location for my friend's Military funeral! The location presided a PRIVATE, dignified, Military funeral which involved the US Army Color Guards who fired off a 21-Gun Salute for my deceased Army friend, ample parking provided for all attending the Military Funeral, conveniently located picnic tables for food/libations setup, and more importantly, an easy, short stroll to James Marshall's Monument where the 21-Gun Salute was presided. My friend's family were so grateful to Coloma State Park's Head Park Ranger Supervisor for allowing presiding a Military funeral which was quite a distance from the Coloma State Park's American River parking lot. Reiterating, reserving the James Marshall's Monument location for my friend's family and all who attended my friend's Military Funeral, it was so PRIVATE, awesome, easy, uncomplicated set up due to the picnic tables for the food and libations were conveniently adjacent to the clean restrooms, and overall, a gorgeous, tranquil, serene, appropriate location presiding a somber, dignified, Military funeral. Finally, presiding a Military Funeral at James Marshall's Monument for my friend's family will always be remembered and revered. Best of all, all who attended my friend's Military funeral have ALL returned exploring James Marshall's Monument--again, James Marshall's log cabin, checking the construction updates for both St. John's Catholic Church and Emmanuel Church, Sutter's Mill, gold panning the American River, sent snail mail from the Coloma Post Office, ate at my friend, Noah's Argonaut Cafe, and hiked all the trails, too! You can still see a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, a cafe, event venue (Gold Trail Grange), museum and a charming little post office that is actually still functional. It's a great spot for all, kids enjoy the fun gold-panning activities, adults interest to learn the Gold Rush history, walking trail, picnic and hanging out by the river. We also walked around the Mt. Murphy Road Bridge, this bridge offers great views of the South Fork American River and the white-water rafting, please watch out for cars, the bridge is narrow! The venue was wonderful with its outdoor setting and tents for our guests to opt to spend the night in. We got married May 29th, 2021 and it was the perfect day. Love that it was next to the river. So many of our guests said it was one of, or the, most beautiful weddings they had ever been too. This venue is great with the different locations allowing for a unique setting for the ceremony, dinner, cocktail hour, and dancing. There is so much space. The venue was also incredible because they informed us a local business would have a live band during our wedding and that they would work with them on the key moments. We checked in with the venue as we were concerned about our live musician, a harpist, having to compete with another live band close by, as well as our first dance. Laura worked with the business to coordinate the live band playing the following day. While I felt bad for that, I really appreciated our venue working on preserving those key moments for our wedding. We went back and forth on going with Coloma Weddings for our catering. We are SO glad we went with them; heard lots of good feedback on the dinner which was delicious!! Thank you for much for everything!

Sitting on the shores of the South Fork of the American River, is a lovely spot with two possible areas for eating, set up for a bar, a dance floor, camping in large cabins overlooking the river, and a cozy and beautifully decorated honeymoon cottage. We had about 110 guests who were happy with everything, including the delicious dinner for the wedding guests, and breakfast for those who stayed in the campground. Jerry and his crew do an amazing job of coordinating everything at this unique venue. Notwithstanding, we had to contend with a "winter storm" in May, yet everything was handled with grace and good cheer. We so highly recommend Earthtrek!

From the moment we stepped onsite for our initial tour, EarthTrek was the immediate and obvious top choice for us. The grounds and facilities are very well kept and it's obvious that the family takes a lot of pride in the way they care for the site. There are so many areas for guests to explore and enjoy - many of our guests raved to us about the beautiful, serene venue. The river provides such a soothing backdrop and the whole site feels very private and secluded. We really loved that our guests could book overnight camping, and we also opted for the breakfast burrito option on Sunday morning, which was a big hit and a really delicious, bountiful spread. Laura, who was our primary point of contact, is a dream to work with - just genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever come across, and so accommodating and responsive (which is exactly what you hope for when you're planning a wedding). Our wedding was very DIY and decor-forward, and Laura was so great about scheduling site visits with us so we could plan and take measurements. Simplistic and very high-end all at once. Rows of chairs on either side of the aisle with an altar, some steps, and a piano at the front. All of the small details were handled perfectly - a sign announcing the bride and groom, wedding cake, and celebratory drinks on top of the piano. Behind the scenes (literally behind a very decorative curtain) is a back area with rooms for privacy to change and prepare for the big day. The pastor was great. A friend played the piano as a wedding march and then sang a beautiful song for the couple. Huge congrats to our friends AnnMarie and Michael. So glad we were able to be there for them at their nuptials - especially in such a wonderful setting. If you're looking for a place to get married in Reno you can't go wrong with this hidden gem of a chapel within the Grand Sierra Resort.

I dont remember very much of that day, just nerves, Crown Royal stashed in a 16oz water bottle (brides cousin, thanks Jim!), and of course my best mans comforting words..."Dude, im driving you over to the chapel now. We can totally leave town, RIGHT NOW! Im serious. Im just offering." I would not wish marriage on anyone, but if you are hellbent on doing it, might as well do it here. I recommend that you elope, get married by the city and save the $1200 price tag that getting married here cost me, and have a really cool honeymoon. But, what do i know.
