Amazing view. Delicious breakfast. Gracious, accommodating host. We were in Placerville to attend a wedding and found this gem up in the mountains. While it's a bit of a distance to the actual venue, it was well worth it for the quiet, calm and very relaxing environment. Beautiful property and I wish I had time to use the pool outside. We stayed in the Bella Vista honeymoon suite. I loved it. It allowed my husband and I to talk. There's a calming and clarifying vibe to the room and the place in general. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area 100%. I think about this place from time to time. I actually miss it! read more

Bella Vista B&B was very calm and peaceful. My room was the honeymoon suite, The Bella Vista. Checking in and out was completely stress free. Something I like the most about the room was I could smell how clean the place was, even the sheets were fresh. The bathroom was very clean and spotless. The facilities were very accommodating. Very nice property with fantastic views and comfy rooms. I stayed in the Arbor Vista room, which was comfortable and very nicely appointed, albeit small. Everything worked and the room was spotless. My only minor beef is that the breakfast is at 9:00. So for an early riser, this is unfortunate. But I'm sure the breakfast was excellent based on the obvious care the owners exhibit in taking such good care of the property. I would definitely come back here again. read more

My best friend and I take a girlfriend trip once a year and this year we stayed at the Bella Vista bed-and-breakfast. The place is gorgeous. We had so much fun. We reserved the Rio Vista suite along with the attached beach bungalow so each had our own rooms downstairs. The back slider opened onto a sandy beach area with gorgeous views and a pool. We took day trips to Grass Valley and Placerville and had an amazing time. Spent the last half of our last day there sitting outside, looking at the views and enjoying the sunshine. The owners are amazing... They delivered breakfast to our doors each morning and boy were they delicious. I am definitely bringing my husband back so that he can enjoy this place and the surrounding areas as much as I did. read more

We rented out the whole venue for a 2 day training event and it was a fantastic experience. They were very responsive to our needs and customized their offerings to meet the unique requirements of having the training. Participants stayed for 3 nights, we did the training at the venue and it worked great. The views are spectacular and the facilities afforded the ability to break up into groups in different areas. It was comfortable and convenient, creating a unique atmosphere that really helped people to engage with each other. The rooms are beautiful and themed so each person has a unique experience that is memorable for all of the right reasons! It's so hard to exceed my expectations. Partner and I stayed here for anniversary getaway this weekend. Despite the scorching heat, we had an amazing time relaxing in the resort-like setup in the back. Every little thing was thought through. There was water in the coffee pot. My husband and I came to stay to attend a wedding for one night and ended up staying two nights because my husband became ill on the drive up. They accommodated us for an extra night as he was not feeling up to the 2.5 hour drive home. The Buena Vista Suite where we stayed was beautiful as was the entire inn and grounds. The breakfast was great. What stands out most was the owner's kindness in making arrangements for us to stay that extra night without having to change rooms. Husband and daughter surprised me with a three day stay here for my 60th birthday. All I can say is wow!! Most amazing place! The view from our room was so very beautiful!!! We looked out over the American River. They treated me to the Bella Vista suite and a most amazing massage in my room!! We enjoyed the hot tub jacuzzi and walked the property which had convenient sitting areas. We saw wild peacocks, turkeys and deer. Bella Vista is close to river rafting, wine tasting vineyards and old gold town Coloma, CA. Gosh this is now our "Happy" place. Romantic, peaceful, serene. I'd recommend this place to everyone!! This place is stunning! We immediately fell in love as we drove on to the property. The landscape is beautiful, inviting, and immediately makes you feel relaxed. We stayed in the Bella Vista suite - it was very clean, spacious, and had breathtaking views out of every window including the window from the massive shower (next to the jetted tub for two!). Breakfast was served on the deck - it was delicious and sweetly presented. Directly outside the suite is a gorgeous stone pool/hot tub (with a waterfall and slide!). The entire place is absolutely beautiful, with great attention to detail. We briefly met the owners, Kathleen and Bob - they were very kind and attentive. There is river access within a 5-10 minute drive of the place, and it's just close enough to town should you need anything. We will definitely be back, to stay longer! read more

We stayed here for our wedding night so we didn't get to enjoy all of if BUT we woke up to a gorgeous view and Kathleen prepared snacks and drinks for us to take on the road given that we needed to leave early to the airport. Wonderful service. When there was a discrepancy with the romance package price, Kathleen went with the lower one. We were welcomed with rose pedals, chocolate covered strawberries, and wine! Perfect. Stunning. Captivating. Just a few words to describe this bed and breakfast. The estate is masterfully pieced together to bring tranquility in forms of a beach and mountain view. The room we stayed in is astonishing and gave us a panoramic view of the valley. If you want a getaway for a weekend this is the place to go. It's still being worked on, however, I'm not sure what else is needed. It's perfect. Kathleen was extremely warm and welcoming over the phone and explained everything about the room to us. She even suggested places to go around town and was exceptionally nice. Highly recommend Bella Vista for weddings or just a beautiful getaway! My Husband and I had a late October wedding at the Bella Vista. We fell in love with the pictures before we ever saw the place and when we finally went in person, it lived up to every one of our expectations! Kathleen was so accommodating through the whole process leading up to the wedding. She always answered our emails fully and quickly as well as let us go back for multiple visits prior to the wedding. Now the weekend of the wedding, what can I say other than PERFECT!! The service was exceptional from the whole staff, the view breathtaking, and the weather was perfect!! Very unethical business. We booked this place on AirBnB and they canceled our reservation because someone booked it after through their site. First of all they should have it on one site not two, to avoid this situation. And after reading all her reviews on air bnb she has done this many times to others. They also didn't at all try to accommodate us with another room due to their error, they instead said to go to their website and book a more expensive room. So seeing others comments after the fact made me realize this business has been doing unethical business for a while sadly. Charge 3x more through, so they canceled our reservation because they would make more on the other booking. People spend time looking for the right place and get excited about their trips, to just have this person be so inconsiderate and insensitive to the issue they caused. Very unethical. The gal told us we could book through their site if we wanted to do so, which tells me they have the room but want to book it for 3x more a night. So what they are doing is putting on air bnb and letting people book then canceling and telling them to book through their website for 3x more. Absolutely unethical and wrong. I hope this helps someone not make the same mistake we did and save themselves the time and grievance. read more

This is a review I have struggled with writing over the last few months. Not because the experience is terrible or that the place is awful. It's because I want to keep this place a secret! If you like the experience of staying at a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel, then this is the place. Period. The property is beautiful, the rooms unique, the breakfast tasty and the view is absolutely stunning! I stayed here a few months ago for Passport 2017 in El Dorado county with two of my girlfriends. We stayed in the room with beach access which is the bottom floor of the house. This room had two bedrooms, a bathroom, a large living room area, a small kitchen with a bar and of course the "beach" access. Like me, you heard beach in Placerville and you think I'm crazy - but they literally have a beach. From the sliding door you step onto sand and an area with a few tables, a fire pit, the pool (which has a swim up bar), and the hot tub. This room worked great for three of us as they provided an air mattress for our third friend and we just set it up in the living room. I also stayed here this past weekend and we were in the Coloma Suite. It's a much smaller room than the one I was in before, but it has a private deck which overlooks this spectacular view of the entire valley. It's on the main floor too. On both visits, the beds were comfy and we had no issues with the rooms. Breakfast in the morning was very good too on both visits and if you stay in the Coloma Suite, they will serve you breakfast on that private deck I mentioned before. So if you're looking for a B&B in Placerville or just an option that isn't a hotel, then this is your place. I can't imagine staying anywhere else now on our wine buying trips. read more

My then boyfriend, William, called the BnB and spoke to Claudia. He wanted to make the evening a very romantic one. Claudia was eager to assist. When we walked into the room, it was very clean and organized. There were rose pedals all throughout the room including the bed, a bottle of wine, and a chocolate cake. I thought what a treat! We sat on our private sitting area and shared the wine and chocolate cake. William proposed to me that evening. The setting could not have been more perfect. Claudia went above and beyond to ensure this was the case. The next morning, Claudia prepared such a tasty breakfast! I even asked her for the quiche recipe and got it. Claudia was beyond hospitable. My husband and I were in the area for a friend's wedding and, as it was our first trip away from our 22-month-old, we decided to splurge on a fantastic place to stay. Bella Vista is just that--fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous views, lovely rooms with comfy beds, delicious breakfasts and a super fun pool overlooking the nearby valley and hills. I really should elaborate. When I say "super fun," I mean I felt like I was 9 years old again, running up to the rock slide over and over and over and over (etc. ad nauseum) to splash into the refreshing water. It was hilarious and just such a good time! And the hot tub is the perfect place to end the day with a glass of wine, watching the sun set behind the hills. The setting just cannot be beat. The proprietors were very friendly and accommodating, happy to recommend restaurants and activities in the area and did a spectacular job with the breakfasts (I ate every single bite on my plate, everything was so delicious!). I don't know when we'd ever be in the area again, but if we find ourselves nearby, I would jump at the chance to stay at Bella Vista again. read more

I really don't think I could say enough nice things about our visit to this lovely hidden away little gem!!! My boyfriend and I were looking for a last minute getaway and I was fortunate enough to come across the Bella Vista! The proprietor, Kathleen, was an absolute pleasure to deal with from the start to the end of our stay She recommended a local restaurant, Cafe Mahjaic, over the phone and warned us to make reservations. We were SO impressed with our dinners, thank you Kathleen! We stayed in The Bella Vista Suite, which was absolutely BREATHTAKING in itself, but the views and windows were off the charts! Beautiful comfy bed, wonderful large jacuzzi tub, super large room, fireplace, it's own patio looking out to the luscious green hillsides... we couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway! BREAKFAST!!!! Over the phone Kathleen had asked it we want to eat with everyone else or have breakfast brought to our room, we chose breakfast to our room so we could eat on our little patio. 9am sharp, as promised, breakfast was set up for us on our patio table, we walked out and it looked like a photo you'd see straight out of an exquisite travel magazine!!! I posted the photo I took under the photo section. So looks are one thing, but I will say... HANDS DOWN... it was probably the most delicious breakfast I've ever had! The veggie quiche was TO DIE FOR! Everything else was also mouth watering! It was such a beautiful amazing experience throughout and I would recommend this B&B to EVERYONE / ANYONE! There was a family there who's children were enjoying the beautiful lagoon pool and waterfall, there were other couples enjoying their balcony/patios. Just a wonderful and friendly atmosphere! I do hope to return someday soon, my wish would be to have a wedding there someday, it's just so absolutely perfect! The hosts are ready to do anything needed to make your stay wonderful. The location is perfect - in between a great goldrush historical area and some really good restaurants in Placerville. The only caution we would have is to avoid having an adult stay on the futon bed in the Beach room. Good for a kid but not an adult. We'll be back! read more

Got a special occasion or a need to be pampered? This is the place. I wasn't interested in wasting two days traveling to Hawaii, Aruba or Mexico. I was looking for a lovely vacation spot close to home. When I saw their website, I wasn't trusting just how beautiful it appeared online, but it really is that beautiful. You can see the river from the shower, the (jaccuzi) tub, the pool, the common living room/dining room. All over their garden they have little areas for sitting and enjoying water fountains or views. The pool is small, but the view is magnificent. I really appreciated the beautiful decor carried throughout the house- no cute doilies or quilts. The hosts are very warm and attentive. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary here for a little getaway. We stayed in the Rio Vista room and the view was incredible. Everything was clean and kept up. They served breakfast each morning and it was really good. I have an allergy and they accommodated to that allergy so that I could have almost everything that everyone else had. The staff was friendly and excited that we were there. We added the romance package to our stay and it was really special. They also made sure that there was a flourless chocolate cake to accommodate my allergy. The champagne was delicious and it was from a local winery. There are a lot of things to do in El Dorado County and you are close for day trips if you wanted. To Sacramento or to Lake Tahoe. My wife and I were getting married at Wakamatsu Farm down the road so we put up our entire immediate families at the Bella Vista. Kathleen was an absolute joy to work with. She cheerfully gave us a walk-through of the B&B, answered all of our questions, and told us stories of when a prominent Japanese politician stayed there a few years back. She was super communicative and patient with me via email even as my reservation changed multiple times due to family members changing their plans (ugh). Kathleen and Bob were so great, we asked if we could do our rehearsal dinner there and they happily obliged for a reasonable event fee. And what a dreamy place to have a rehearsal dinner under the string lights on the patio! My wife and I had another rental elsewhere so I can't comment on what it's like to stay there but our families loved it and had an awesome time! My boyfriend and I stayed here briefly overnight on our way through town. We were there for less than 12 hours so I can't fully attest to it, but I will cover what I did experience. We arrived around 9pm, and I was amazing by how quaint this place was! This bed and breakfast is such a beauty! At the entrance were the keys to our accommodation. We booked the Buena Vista room, located on the main floor. The room was enormous and literally airy. There were so many air vents and I felt the air blowing! I loved it. They have a wall AC unit and a fireplace for heat. The bathroom was really clean so I was impressed by that. They even had a towel heater and space heater in the bathroom. YES! One of the sinks weren't draining well so not sure what that was about. The bed had an uneven slope so it was kind of a weird sleep. Although the furnishings are not necessarily modern, they are well maintained and work well for this place. When we woke up in the morning, we were greeted by an awesome view of the valley. I could wake up to that view every day. Breakfast was served to us on our patio. The food..AMAZING. I wish we could have stayed longer to fully enjoy property. Also other random information: -They have a pool. -It is kind of pricey per night but they do let you book for 1 night compared to surrounding properties that require at least 2 nights. -Since our room was on the main level, noise from other guests carried into our room at a fairly audible level. -Claudia was our point of contact during our stay.
