This practice is part of Advanced Urology, who has offices in Snellville (main), Decatur, and Johns Creek. They also have a great patient portal available to all patients. I saw Dr. Prabharasuth in the Decatur office for a second opinion on a surgical need and a medical issue and he was far superior to the other physician I saw from another practice. The only issue is that for surgery, I have to go the Snellville surgery center because the Decatur surgery center is not in-network with Ambetter. NPWH=The office staff, doctors, phone operators, billing department, and everyone in between are RIDICULOUSLY nice. I totally recommend this group to anybody.

My husband had a terrible abscess that caused him to be admitted to the hospital for two weeks. I am very fortunate he was able to contain the infection before it could spread throughout his body. During this process Dr. Patel kept me informed and was a great sounding board. He made himself accessible. Words cannot express our gratitude. This is my first time writing on a blog but I felt compelled to go on record and tell everyone that he is the Greatest Urologist out there. I also want to give kudos to his staff. Shapiro at Advanced Urology Institute's Snellville location was thorough, attentive, and willing to investigate further rather than simply dismiss what I was experiencing. He performed the appropriate testing and identified a physical issue that finally gave me a direction for further care. After years of uncertainty, that was a major turning point for me. I also want to acknowledge his clinical staff. The person assisting him was genuinely caring, patient, and compassionate, and that made a difficult experience much easier. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Shapiro and his team. When a physician takes the time to listen, investigate thoroughly, and help a patient finally move toward answers, that deserves recognition.

Everything went well from the ease of scheduling appointments to check out. The front desk staff was professional and prompt from uploading documents to getting him seen within 15 min of arrival Octavia, the nurse, was very sweet. She introduced herself and gave a bit of background about herself and the purpose of her role during his visit. She asked thorough questions and repeated his responses back to him for clarification. Dr. Shapiro came in 10 min after she entered the notes. He was very nice and polite. He asked follow-up questions that Octavia had previously asked for clarification on. He explained thoroughly why my dad was on specific medications and their role. He ordered bloodwork in which it was done in-house. He also ordered imaging (PET scan) and prescription refills. The Phlobotomist was sweet and funny! She and my dad hit it off well. She suggested he drink more water considering it was difficult to find a vein. My dad says well may I should have had a glass of wine! . She laughed and stated that it would not be a good idea As previously stated check out was good. On the way home I received a call from the office scheduling the PET scan. We were able to get the day/time we wanted. All in all, it was a very good visit! I'm very pleased with the staff and Dr. Shapiro. If you or a family member needs a Urologist, give them a call. From my understanding, there are other locations.

I am going to give them 2 stars because I really want to give 2.5 and don't think it's fair to give…read morethem 3. The good: Front desk people are great. Nurse and X ray tech are great too. The in between: The doctor I first saw came in chomping gum. He also seemed a little absent minded but overall, he was ok. The bad: I had a procedure to get rid of a kidney stone scheduled (for today actually). They called me the day before and left me a message saying that they had canceled my procedure (which was supposed to be at Northside) because my insurance was invalid. The problem is, my insurance isn't invalid. I had to get Cobra and Cigna is so slow updating their stuff so that if you call Cigna, yes, they do say it was invalid because as they put it, my info is only correct in one of their systems and not in the other 2 (why do they have 3 systems anyway?!?!?!). However, I had told the staff previously what the deal was and they had called the Cobra people and everything was squared away and they knew my insurance was valid. My question is how can an office that is not that big eff this up? I saw computers in there. Shouldn't there have been a note somewhere on a computer or in my file or something saying "Call the Cobra people for insurance verification". Don't just cancel a procedure without talking to me first. I mean seriously, wtf is that about? so now because of their asshattery and ineptitude and bad technology, I am going to have to reschedule my procedure which throws a GIANT wrench in my schedule at my new job and causes me a huge inconvenience because they will probably make me go to the hospital AGAIN for another 2.5 hours to do all the pre op admissions crap again which will cause me MORE time away from my new job and I'm just really, really ANGRY. I HAVE INSURANCE! YOUR OFFICE KNEW I HAD INSURANCE! NORTHSIDE KNEW I HAD INSURANCE! WHY DID YOU CANCEL MY PROCEDURE?!?! Ugh. They refused to call the Cobra people (because I didn't get a hold of them until 445 because no one was answering the phone. I was literally hitting every prompt for scheduling, nurses, Rx trying to get in touch with a live person and just got prompted to leave messages) and they said they would call in the morning. I think that sucks. If they were nice people, they would have called Northside and uncanceled my appt and called the insurance people instead of effing me over. In short, go somewhere else because if there is any kind of weird anomaly, somehow, you will end up getting screwed over by the office staff. Once I am past all this kidney crap, I am done with this group and if I ever need another urologist, it won't be them.

We were over an hour past our appointment time today and they provided ZERO proactive transparency about the delays, nor did any employee say they were sorry for the delays. Others in the waiting room had been waiting 2+ hours past their appointment times. We asked for Dr. Garcia-Roig to come and speak to us about the delays. He did not do that. Ultimately, we took about 4 hours off work today for this appointment (which was only scheduled today because Georgia Urology asked us to move to this day to ACCOMMODATE THEM). We finally had to leave because we had waited too long and there was no end in sight. I hope we receive a direct phone call from Dr. Garcia-Roig to explain and apologize. We will be escalating this issue further. We will no longer be patients of this practice given that they showed zero care or sympathy for us.

He took 12 samples of my prostate to test for cancer. The 1st 8 were tolerable, but for some reason the last 4 were progressively excruciating. 2 days later I feel about 90% normal and will take a short walk later today. I don't have the name of your staff, but I remember Maurice (and his "twin" born on the same day [Jan. 13], different year). Also the clerk who check me in and the young lady nurse who took my vitals and escorted me to my surgery room were very kind and helpful. As I arrived at the parking lot I also met a lady (Dr. Joan Hader) who personally escorted me (along with Maurice) to the proper Suite and told me to tell Dr. Nabors's that SHE is the #1 Urologist here. Well because she shares the first name as my dearly departed mother it's kind of hard for me to disagree. Let's just call it a tie. Finally, I would like to give you and your staff a gift. I'm a retired Professor of Law, Politics, Philosophy and History who attended law school at Harvard for one year back in 1988-89 with Barack Obama. Since I also early in my career taught in the public schools I know first hand that they are not teaching students critical thinking, so I created a blog containing hundreds of my essays on all subjects and links to my my 11 books @ www.EllisWashingtonReport.com. My son, Stone a graduate student in Public Policy & Administration @George Washington U, also writes for me under the title "Socrates Corner." Please share this cognitive info with children and students ages 8-108 and thanks again Dr. Nabors and to your entire team at Urology Specialists of Atlanta.
