She and my dad hit it off well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. She suggested he drink more water considering it was difficult to find a vein. My dad says well may I should have had a glass of wine! . She laughed and stated that it would not be a good idea [[HIGHLIGHT]]As previously stated check out was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the way home I received a call from the office scheduling the PET scan. BEWARE!!! I was charged $723 for a visit that lasted less than 5 minutes. I barely sat down before the appointment was over. All that happened was a quick conversation and I was asked to pee in a cup. That's it. Before the appointment, I specifically asked the front desk for an upfront estimate with my insurance (United Healthcare) because I didn't want any surprise bills. They told me the estimated cost would be around $243, which I paid upfront at the office. Later I checked my itemized bill and saw the total charge was $723. My insurance paid $0, and now I'm being billed another $141.57 on top of the $243 I already paid. So somehow a 5-minute visit and urine sample equals $723. What's even more ridiculous is I was told self-pay would have been around $275, meaning using insurance actually made the visit hundreds of dollars more expensive. This kind of pricing feels extremely misleading. If the office would like to publicly explain how a 5-minute visit and urine sample justifies a $723 charge, I'd genuinely love to hear it. read more

This is the worst of all time: The Bill group had the bill so screwed up, I was paying one thing, thinking the bills we combined. They had it mixed up , them a get a call from a collection agency asking for money that I thought I had paid. It gets worst, I had a surgery and was scheduled for a follow up visit two weeks last and here is almost 3 months later no follow-up. These people have canceled or rescheduled the follow up 6 times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The last time I was scheduled for a 930am appointment they waited 15 min before the appointment when I drove up to the office to call and tell me it was canceled again[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Every time I scheduled the PA is sick or they are understaffed. I seem to me as much money they charge they should have enough PA to service the whole city of Atlanta. I got so made I did some digging and I found out Advance Urology had been in a lawsuit where they had to pay 20 million dollar for fraud. It stats they were giving people surgeries and other procedures they did not even need to get money. After reading the that it made me wounder did I even need the procedure that I got. I'm going to schedule a follow up with Georgia Urology just see if the surgery was even needed. If not I will be seeking a lawsuit was well. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

If you looking for real solutions and a game plan to resolve your issue, this is not the place. Their focus appears to be on prescribing higher doses of meds or surgery. I go to the Snellville office, to see my Dr. for regular visits. Both him and his staff are great. Very courtesy and great customer service. When you first go in, the lobby is always full. But, I have never waited over 15 minutes to be called back and the Dr., is in the room within 10 to 15 minutes. I have had to go to the Lawrenceville Ambulatory Surgical Center for a procedure. Had a really bad kidney stone and let me tell you this kidney stone was lodged in my kidney for about 2 weeks so I consider this place magic because right before the Dr called my in that thing released itself from my life!! I met with Dr. Grable at the Deland, FL office on 09/21/22 and 09/28/22. I did not care for his attitude, or the fact that he is rushed and lets you know that when he comes in to see you. While my stats came off well, he suggested another procedure just to be sure but said I did not have to do it because he was already too busy anyway. I told him I would not want to have him do a procedure .... if he has to rush. Will never visit him again. read more

Some of the staff are rude and impatient( I had a minor issue with Sherry at the 1557 location). The staff at the 1555 location were generally more approachable. The visits felt rushed. I would have appreciated the doctor taking time to break things down a bit and present a more intentional course of action. Dr Shipiro rushed me out so quickly after my follow up visit, that I couldn't even ask any questions. It feels very profit oriented and you don't get that sense of compassion; they will milk the follow up visits in a way that serves them without devoting the care and patience expected. I have been going to Advanced Urology for several years and always had problems with the billing department. I was given the personal # for a Manager, Brandy, who would always fix things once I called her. She was pleasant but then she left. Her replacement is......let us put it this way, she has no customer service skills. I would see Dr Bhalani and he is the best Dr ever. If you Google him you will not find a negative experience. But then Dr Bhalani left and opened his own practice but he is too far from me, about a hour drive. I live in Snellville and would go to him all the way in Johns Creek just because of his professionalism, experience and customer service skills but he left Advanced Urology - Johns Creek and is now in Cummings. It so happens that the best people at Advanced Urology left, Brandy and Dr Bhalani. I therefore decided to see Dr Shapiro at the Snellville Office since it is closer to me and having a relationship with the organization. Despite doing a test in Nov 2023 and not getting the results until 3 months, end of Feb 2024, after calling multiple times, asking about symptoms on the portal that do not apply to me, asking that Dr Shapiro call me to discuss my concerns, he had 2 ladies call me (names listed above) on 3 occasions and the final time Payven says he indicated he "doesnot do tele-calls, if I want to talk to him I should make an appointment and come see him." It is all about wanting you to do a biopsy and if you are not paying them to do that they do not want to talk to you, despite symptoms listed on the portal that are incorrect. Since I have been a patient of Advanced Urology for some 8 years he has provided the greatest knowledge of my issues as well as spending time to explain any concerns that we have. HOWEVER the billing department has dropped the ball MANY times. from my experience listening in the waiting room the staff handleing collecting payments and copays often catch grief because the are not given updates on the insurance coverage of each patient. the staff up front can only collect and explain what is on the screen in front of them. grade for Dr. Mally is 5 but overall 2 based on billing department 1. read more

Sildenafil is a simple vaso dilater available over the counter in other countries. He declined. He wanted a follow up visit. For money. For him. My job is on covid hold. I have no insurance. As I was hesitant due to the horror stories I've heard about having a vasectomy approximately 15 years ago, I've decided to man up and do what I needed to do. I'm 50 years old now and don't have any time for surprise packages in my life now at this point. Phone interview: I was given an address to appear as they have different facilities. Mind you, I wanted to do a consultation and as well as the procedure the same day. They set me up with the office I needed to go to and gave me instructions on medications I should not take before the procedure. Actually, a week prior before the procedure I couldn't take these OTC meds. At this point now I know I have some men sweating just due to the thought of it. I know how you all feel, I felt the same way too. Arrival: I went in and provided my ID and told them my name. I was on the schedule but the only thing I didn't like was a surprise charge of $167 for that day. My insurance company had already told me it was 100% covered, but it had something to do with the consultation and procedure the same day that got me. Well, no used in crying over spilled milk right? Especially mine that won't be spilling again. After all of that it took maybe about 25 minutes before I was called to the back. At this point I'm like Scooby Doo, "Ruh Roh"!! Examination room: My doctor came in, which he is damn good. His name is Dr Sabarwal. Young guy, and knows what he's doing. We had the little consultation first that maybe took me about 15 minutes due to my age. There was nothing for me to think about before the procedure. So he tells me to show him my stuff to be sure he can work with it. No problem. I can't go into full detail on Yelp but it was a quick maybe 45 second examination. No worries guys, you'll be fine. He told me he will send a nurse in to give me some valium. Now, you have to have a driver to take you home if you choose this method. Nurse entrance of valium: In my case I had to call my driver so they could hear his voice to be sure I had a driver to pick me up. After the nurse heard the driver, she was able to give me my valium. I'm not sure of the mg of each but they gave me 3. After which she said she would be back within 12-15 minutes to check on me. 12 minutes passed by and she came back. She asked how was I feeling and I was giggling and high as a kite She said you're ready now. Walking the Green Mile: The nurse said if I needed to I can grab on to her so she can walk me to the execution room. She didn't say it that way, those were my thoughts. So I get in the room zonked out of my mind and took my clothing off. I can't get into anymore than that because I don't want Yelp to remove this exciting review. At the end of the day, it only took about 15-20 minutes or probably less to handle the procedure. I felt a stick here and a stick there. However I was really relaxed and it didn't bother me at all. Paperwork: After the procedure they will give you paperwork of where to send your sample to. They will also give you an address to send the sample but first you have to order the kit to do what you have to do to send it in. Conclusion: Guys, don't be afraid if this is something you need to do. You're in good hands! Use this facility, you'll be fine. read more

Because I like Dr Mally and I am having worsening issues, I waited a few days then rescheduled for May. In May Dr Mally decided he wanted an MRI to check for cancer. He stated they would make the appointment and let me know and we made another appointment to go over the results 6 weeks out. I waited 3 weeks and heard nothing so called and was told they would be calling me. Another week when Gwinnett Clinic called stating they had received the request to schedule the MRI but all were full until August 1st now. I asked if I could have gotten in if they had called in the 1st week and was told yes. The Day of my appointment I showed up but the MRI had not been done so the doctor could not address any of my concerns about this and I now I get to stress another 6 weeks to see if I have cancer. During this visit the doctor prescribed a medication possibly address an issue. I was given a printed RX. On the way home I tried 3 different chain pharmacies. None could fill it and the last told me to try a local specialty pharmacy. I went home, called them and was told this was not available from them either so I called the office and asked where I could get it. The response was " You have to get it from Empower specialty pharmacy in Texas (so they knew this from the start) and gave me the number. I called and was immediately told they would only accept a faxed RX from the provider. I called back to the office restating what I was told, and the response was "Oh yes, we have to do that. It should have been done already. Let me look. I can't find it but I will look into this and get it taken care of. I'll call you back." 4 days no word. I am out of room now. Rx sent incomplete, office not calling so no med. Going elsewhere now. This made already stressful worse. read more

Diagnosed ruptured Angiomyolipoma : After realizing Dr. Mally was giving me 1 of 2 options: Do nothing and just wait for mass to bleed out, or have him remove my kidney. I insisted on a second opinion. 2nd urologist sent me for an isotopic scan of my kidney and consultation with an interventional radiologist. MY KIDNEYS ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND I AM now HAVING A MINIMALLY INVASIVE SELECTIVE EMBOLISM TO SHRINK MASS . If I had not have seen second urologist, having the correct test done: I would have lost a functioning organ due to Dr. Mally's arrogance,air of superiority and what I consider negligence! PATIENTS BEWARE ( PARTICULARLY MEDICARE PATIENTS;) PHYSICIANS LIKE what I described above,would RATHER REMOVE A FUNCTIONING ORGAN  PUTTING THE PATIENT THRU NEEDLESS  PAIN, SUFFERING;than offer patient a minimally invasive procedure to resolve problem( 80% success rate! ) The interventional radiologist was "surprised" that I was denied the selective embolization to shrink benign mass, Instead wanting removal of my kidney. While they removed my stone, they bled me financially with little to no notice. I had intermittent pain in my side and ended up in the ER with a kidney infection. They told me I had a large kidney stone and referred me to the urologist. I saw them on the 8th of January and we scheduled 2 surgical visits (because of the size of the stone) for February 8th and February 15th. On February 1st, the office called me to tell me I would need to pay my co-pay (over $1000) and I would need to do it that day. My issue wasn't that there would be a co-pay, which I always assumed, but that no one mentioned at my initial appointment it would need to be paid up front nor did they tell me in the month between my visit and the phone call. I raised the issue and said I could pay, but I should have been told about this in advance. No apologies, no agreements, nothing. Then they told me it's because they were waiting on an amount for the co-pay from Ambetter. At this stage, I point out I have Aetna and they say they'll have to get new authorizations and a new co-pay amount. Who were they authorizing surgery for? On the Wednesday before surgery, they call to tell me it's been canceled. No reason is given. I call the office in tears trying to figure out what is going on, am I having surgery, etc. I get someone who treats me like a human being and says she'll figure out what's going on. They finally call back and say the surgery was canceled because Aetna won't pay for me to have the surgery at their private surgical center, only at the hospital. I get a vague apology about the co-pay and go up to pay it. While I'm at the hospital for my pre-op they offer me a discount on their end, if I pay in advance. The surgical coordinator also mentions that between the doctor bill and the hospital bill, I've met my deductible and paid a significant chunk of my out of pocket maximum. I have the surgery on Valentine's Day and couldn't be happier about how well it went. They got the entire 2.5cm stone (not a typo), and inserted a stent to be removed today. I showed up for my stent removal and was told it was going to be $255. I pointed out it should be free or at a greatly reduced price since I'd met my deductible. Desperate to get the stent out, I pay the fee and wait to get called back. While I'm waiting, I check my Aetna app, and not only do I confirm the visit should be free, but I notice the amount I owed for the surgery is about $700, not almost $1100. I take the app to the desk and point out what my insurance says my portions are versus what I've paid. Suddenly no one at the desk will make eye contact with me. I'm given a number and told to call billing when I get home. 5 seconds on the phone with billing confirmed I'd paid almost $800 in medical bills that I didn't owe. While the care I received was excellent and I couldn't be happier with my results, I'm extremely underwhelmed with their office staff and pretty sure if I hadn't opened my mouth, they'd have kept my money. read more

Where to begin??? After a 2 week nightmare with both the Lawrenceville office and the Snellville office, I visited my primary care doctor and got the treatment I really needed for the UTI that my body was telling me I had. This will be a little long, but please read before you use this corporate doctor group. First, you cannot just call the office for an appointment. All locations go to one number that you will wait for a long time to get to a person. They want you to go online to make appointments, but it doesn't work. Their websites are crap. One of their surgeons completed a mid-urethral sling and prolapse repair on me in 2018, and then that doc left the group a few months later. Since that time, whenever I have had to go to the office, no one seems to be knowledgeable about the urethral sling. Recently the PA I saw at the Lawrenceville office had no clue what I was talking about and told me no doctor at that office delt with those. Took an act of congress to get an appointment with Dr. Patel at the Snellville office who was perfectly nice, but since urine didn't show infection all he did was give me pain medicine and attribute my issues to menopause. He treated that by prescribing estrogen cream. A week later I'm in horrible pain from a UTI that they never would treat because they don't listen to the patient, they just look at the test results. Tried to get another appointment with Dr. Patel, but he (nor any other actual doctors in the group) could see me for another week. Luckily my primary care doc could see me and she listened and gave me antibiotics and now I'm getting better. Had I followed Dr. Patel's advice, I would have been masking the UTI symptoms and ended up really sick. Additionally, he pressured me to schedule very costly tests for a month later. This office will schedule these costly procedures so be your own advocate and decide if you really need them. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because all of the staff I talked to were very nice and tried to help me to the best of their abilities with making appointments and getting messages to doctors. My Dad is in his 70's and is a doctor himself. Therefore, he wants the best care possible. He went to the 1st doctor and didn't agree with the results so then he asked around about Urologists in the area and Dr. Patel's name was brought up. He decided to go in and meet with him and liked what he had to say. My Dad decided to do his surgery with Dr. Patel and has had nothing but great things to say about him. He was available by cell for a few emergencies that my Dad had. He made us feel important and well taken care of. What more can you ask for in a doctor? We highly recommend him! read more

I had a urinary tract infection about a month ago and went to Advanced Urology in Snellville, Ga. and they prescribed me an antibiotic to take two times a day, which ran out a few days ago. But they scheduled a follow-up appointment for this Friday. Well the UTI returned yesterday morning and since I have a follow-up appointment I called Advanced Urology and requested a refill at least until my appointment in four more days, well three now. The young lady told me I had to come in for an exam before they could renew the prescription. So I then went to the pharmacy and asked them to refill, they are still waiting for the doctors' authorization. In the meantime, I am doubled over with painful urination. The issue here is the doctor knows that I had a UTI and they sometimes come back. I have a follow-up appointment in three days. This practice is just trying to get more insurance and patient money to refill a prescription forcing an unnecessary office visit, as I will be in their office in three days for my scheduled office visit anyway. Being that they are a specialist they also charge more and my deductible is also higher, when all they had to do was give me 4 days refill to get me to the appointment already scheduled. read more

Terrible experience calling in for the first time. This review is based solely on calling this clinic/business as I decided to not schedule an appointment with them due to the terrible customer service of the front desk/operator person. Their phone system sounds terrible, you can hear your own voice echo back which makes it difficult to talk to them. I told the front desk lady what was happening and she told me that its her headset and to deal with it. All she had to do was pick up the phone with her hand. Also the volume levels between the prerecorded messages and the live person are way off. You have to put the volume on your phone up to be able to hear the live person and then turn it way down if you get put on hold because the music/messages are drastically louder. This clinic/business needs to do some quality control on their phone system and have the front desk folks brush up on their customer service skills. read more

Just getting off the phone with my insurance. This office charged me upfront for my deductible prior to a necessary ultrasound. Weeks later my insurance declined the payment on my flex spending account because it actually covered everything. When I called, the billing rep said this happens all the time and they can't refund my card. Only mail a check. I bet it does happen all the time - because they overcharge patients and then do not refund on the spot. Will never return! read more

Each appointment with Dr. Shapiro has led to months of waiting just for 5 minutes, where little clarification is given, and we are redirected to more tests that take months to schedule, only to have 5 minutes of discussion of what the results could be with little clarity or organization. The office itself is very disorganized, and the nurses focus on getting people out as soon as possible. You would think a practice that deals with real people and real health problems would show more empathy. read more

The receptionist said up front that they didn't have any medications listed under my name and then receptionist gave me a big packet to fill out as if was my first time going there. I didn't remember all my surgeries so I had so I had to guess and then look up all my many medications on my Walgreens app and still wasn't finished when I was called back and then my PA found all my info in the computer she used so I wasted about 30 minutes because of them losing my info up front and even had pages of notes attached to my medical history and medications and they lost all my paper work but a page with little info on it because I attached all my notes to it but they lost all of it. Then when PA looked me up in computer and my last name wasn't even right! My surgeries were correct though. Pa Christian is good and very personable. Dr. Patel alright too. So wait to fill out your info in the big packet if the receptionist's computer lost your info an then the info incase dr or pa has it in their computer. It will save you alot of time! read more

Jitesh Patel, MD is an accomplished surgeon and also has a good bedside manner. To have such a good bedside manner, it is unbelievable he offers no empathy for his patients though. As a patient who has gone through a series of problems requiring multiple surgeries in a short amount of time recently, no empathy was offered even though I sat in tears expressing fear and having an emotionally difficult time with all that I was going through. I guess I expected more, but a specialist does not include holistic care of the patient. read more

My husband was diagnosed with and biopsied for prostate cancer based on a small increase in PSA. ADVANCED urology recommended and pushed for an immediate prostatectomy and gave promises of very low risk of life altering risks associated with this surgery. We got a second opinion as the risk of incontinence and impotence is extremely high. After consulting and switching to an Emory doctor we discovered he had the very lowest risk cancer and this kind cannot even metastasize. So we opted to do an MRI ( which showed tiny cancerous spot) and redid the biopsy a year later. That biopsy just came back with zero cancer cells detected. Advanced Urology should be ashamed of themselves for their well known "quick to cut" reputation Get a second opinion or avoid these dangerous greedy doctors at all cost. read more

I have been dealing with an incision that has not properly healed for over 4 and 1/2 months. It was made in my lower back to insert leads for my bladder stimulator. It oozed sometimes yellow liquid it was always red and raised. I complained to the PA's for 3 visits over 3 months until Dr. J Patel finally saw me and excised the wound but did not stitch it closed. I was told at every visit with the PA's that they have never seen this before and Dr. Patel himself said that this situation was unusual. All comments meant to deflect responsibility for my condition onto me. The very morning I was discharged from my original surgery on April 13th, I called the office when I got home to inform someone that I had bled at my incision at the leads site enough to go through my underwear and my knit shorts. I was put on hold and when the young lady came back on the phone she said little bleeding is normal. The latest attempt at cleaning up the site by Dr. Patel, I have been left with an ugly not stitched up incision that still looks unhealthy. He told me that skin on your back is difficult to hold together. So he used a big blob of liquid skin stuff but you can see underneath that it is not closed. I had a pretty large cancerous mole removed from my back last summer and the dermatologist STITCHED the wound up and it healed very quickly and the incision is barely noticeable. I went to see my dermatologist and he is going to rule out an allergic reaction to the materials that the leads are made off. If I am not allergic then I will be asking him to repair the incision. I am not going back to Advanced Urology unless it needs to come out. This situation should never have gone this far. If Advanced Urology was truly concerned for my health, they would have researched why it happened after the first month and stop blaming me. I took a great deal of care to not let the wound get worse while waiting for a resolution. After all, my husband and I had taken great care of the incision from my mole removal, which was deep, and we did the same for this wound. But because it was never stitched close it could not heal. The past 5 months have been an emotional nightmare. read more

Going to Advanced Urology was one of the worst decisions we have ever made. We paid them to a do a procedure, which showed signs of problems immediately. The doctors never showed any concern and dismissed all of ours. Once it was proven that they failed to do what we paid them to do, they tried to tell us they needed to do exploratory surgery to fix it which would require more money. I can't tell you the ways that this has been physically and emotionally painful and I am considering a law suit. The office is unprofessional as well. They never return calls, and actually forget to let you know about labs, etc. Do not trust these guys. read more

My NIGHTMARE started 5 years ago when I went for a visit with a UTI. Ended up with 3 years of bleeding, incontinence and more UTI's. Dr. Mally talked me into a procedure called Rezum with promises that I would never had any more issues with UTIs and frequent urinating. My prostate was 80mg in size. Too oversized for the procedure. After a year and a half of misery I went back to Dr. Mally with my complaints and he had the audacity to suggest that my then current condition was a natural result of the operation. He gave me some antibiotics and sent me home without even doing a urinalysis. After 3 months of more UTIs and incontinence, went back to this meat market called Advanced Urology. Dr, Mally suggested another intrusive procedure to check on the possibility of bladder cancer. He also mentioned that at my age (57) this was common and that he even had patients in their 30's in diapers after the procedures. I said no way in hell this is an acceptable diagnosis. I called later that day to get copies of all my medical records, to which they responded with proposing I get another appointment with a different doctor from within Advanced Urology. Hell no!!! I went to another doctor who after seeing my records brought to my attention that the performed procedure Rezum was not for oversized prostate such as mine because of the possibility of damaging adjacent organs such as bladders!! He actually read the contraindications of the procedures written in the Rezum website advising not to perform this procedure for largely oversized prostate. My new doctor also mentioned that he received an average of 5 to 10 patients a week with post operation traumas from procedures performed at Advances Urology. He went on to say that someone needs to stop Advanced Urology from ruining peoples lives! Long story short... went to Emory had an amazing doctor who fixed the horrendously deformed prostate and other issues caused by Dr Mally's unnecessary procedure. Now I am back to normal, no UTIs, strong flow and no more bleeding or incontinence. I avoided more graphic details of my experience with Advanced Urology (a for profit, unscrupulous practice) forthe sake of sparing you such details. Please beware!!! Needed a biopsy for my prostate, right before the procedure they demanded I pay $800, results of all multiple samples came back negative so now told to follow up and take another PSA test, when I came back told my PSA was higher then before the biopsy, I was given an option for at home urine test so I did it and sent it Fed Ex to the lab, weeks passed and they never called me from advanced urology with my results, So I finally called and was told within 4 months I needed another biopsy? Now I'm no doctor, but this is within a few months? After I questioned this now I'm told they'll schedule an MRI, so I got a call two weeks later telling me to call over there and schedule it , When I called the hospital they told the MRI paperwork from advanced Urology hadn't arrived to set up my appointment....I'm lost and confused as if there's no sense of urgency while time and possibly my life slips away.. that's why all I can do is pray that they know what they're doing read more
