I was referred to Dr. Gilbert because I was interested in removing a devitalized molar and getting a dental implant. The molar had been bothering me for years but I finally decided to do something about it. When I had my X-ray taken, Dr. Gilbert showed me that the molar and surrounding gum tissue were infected and that my body has been fighting an active infection! I had been feeling more run-down than usual this past year I thought that it could be this molar; I was relieved to discover that I was right. I immediately scheduled a surgery date for the extraction, bone graft, and ensuing dental implant. Dr. Gilbert told me that I would feel so much better after getting the molar removed. The day arrived and I had my molar removed as a well as the bone graft. Dr. Gilbert was right, I felt so much better immediately after surgery! I didn't bleed much and didn't have much swelling. Moreover, I barely had any pain and only had to take one Motrin the first day - which I took preemptively but I probably didn't need it. About a month ago, I went back for the dental implant procedure. The X-ray showed that my bone graft was adequate and I went right into surgery. After the second surgery, I was grateful to experience a similar result as the first surgery - very little bleeding, pain, or swelling. I just went in for my 4 week follow-up and my implant healed nicely, so nicely in fact that my gums healed over the implant! I have a bone-disease similar to osteoporosis and I'm very particular about who I choose to operate on me. Dr. Gilbert presented himself as professional, confident, and most importantly capable of meeting the challenge of performing a successful dental implant procedure on me. Thank you, Dr. Gilbert! I rarely leave reviews, but I left this office feeling frustrated and honestly a bit taken advantage of. I scheduled a wisdom tooth consultation after being quoted $188 out-of-pocket (worst-case scenario) over the phone. Based on that information, I agreed to the appointment. When I arrived, they took an x-ray and explained my options. After that, I was informed that the total cost would actually be $2,400, which was completely different from what I had been told prior to scheduling. I explained that this was not what I was quoted and that I could not proceed under those terms. I was still charged $240 for the consultation and imaging. Later that day, the same staff member who gave me the $188 quote called to apologize and said she would speak with her manager about applying that payment toward the surgery. While I appreciate the follow-up, this experience left me feeling misled and disappointed. I'm sharing this so other patients know to get all estimates in writing before scheduling. In my pre and post op, if you look at my cheeks you will see they are much fuller. I weighed more at that time than I do now. I weighed 155 and now I'm 135-140 range. As I already mentioned, the angle of the pictures I have taken for this review is with my chin down. And pre and post is looking straight forward. Obviously this will make jaw appear differently. There's no reason or benefit to me or anyone else to be lying about my review. The dr did see me in my post op appointment and he did tell me what I am seeing is in my head. Why would I go back? If he isn't able to see what I am seeing? How can he fix a lipo he did if he can't see what I'm talking about? I gave more time to completely heal since I know it takes time for skin and fat to settle after lipo. No changes and now looking into a revision and ultimately decided to provide review of my experience with this office and Dr. I will not be going back to Dr Gilbert as he is not taking accountability of his work and instead undermining my review. Again not taking accountability who in their right mind would allow to be put under again by someone with this demeanor? Since the Dr is adamant about the pre-and postop pictures that he is unable to post here, I will post the pre and post op and then a picture of my jaw looking STRAIGHT FORWARD as of now so that it can be used in comparison. The picture I have taken myself is with natural lighting unlike the photos from his office that have poor lighting. However, again this is not an angle of my jaw where you can see the fat distribution of my uneven lipo and that is why I have posted photos of where you can see what I am referring to. This becomes very apparent in my day-to-day life because our heads do not remain straightforward as we talk and engage with others. I'm self-conscious about the ripple and one side of my face having more fat than the other. My intention of this review is to help others who are looking into this procedure since there were no examples that I could find before deciding to go with Dr. Gilbert. I don't think I can. I had one tooth implant years ago and the experience was fine. I knew very little about the nature of implants at the time. Fairly early I started having gum recession and bone loss and sensitivity. I attributed that to aging. As time went on there was inflammation and infection off and on. I did a little research and found that there is about a 10% failure rate, mostly due to screw displacement. Now I'm being told I may loose the tooth. Removal of an implant is quite extreme I've found. While doing a laser treatment in an effort to extend the tooth viability I was told the implant was put in at a slant, making it impossible to have a true fit with the crown. This creates a pocket that cannot be cleaned with typical oral hygiene....a 100% set up for infection and deterioration. Here is my issue; I don't understand how it was not seen in all the extras they took. As an aside the general dentist who placed the crown certainly could see it. I don't understand why no one apprised me of this faulty placement. read more

I would like to speak to anyone who is putting off dental issues because they have other health concerns and feel they are difficult patients. I am a difficult patient. Among other issues I have lymph edema and impossible veins. I put off seeing Dr Gilbert for 6 months till today and only regret I didn't come in 6 months ago. Dr Gilbert spent a long time with me going over all health concerns. Even offered a referral for my edema and looked at my skull xray because I mentioned an old fall - both issues nothing to do with why I was there. My veins were difficult but he did not give up and his staff surrounded me, making sure I was ok. I won't repeat all the other accolades from other reviews because they are all true. This is one of the most professional offices I have ever dealt with. I thoughht I was entering a regular dental office but instead it was a fully certified surgery center with a triple boarded physician, capable of doing reconstructive and surgical work as well as complicated dental work. And yet the staff and the doctor were humble and reassuring. I had the sense that they had all the time I needed for a procedure to be done well. They recommended light sedation. I awakened after what I thought was just a minute. Post op instructions were explained verbally and given to me in writing. They even give you a coupon for a smoothie to calm the swelling although I didnt have any. I had an appointment with another oral surgeon but he could not get to me for 10 days and I was in pain. I had the procedure done along with the extraction of an old root canal and bone graph. The recovery was HORRIBLE!!! The procedure was also cost several thousand dollars. Prepare to spend a lot of $$$ at this facility. I came back several months for a check up. My dental implant ends up failing. Dr. Gilbert had to remove it. I experienced the worst pain when he was trying to pull it out. I went back for a final check up last week, doctor is still pushing that I try for another dental implant surgery. NO THANKS!!!! I got a very bad vibe at this place after my appointment and Now I know why with good reason. I wish I could give them zero stars. I have amazing PPO insurance double coverage and this place said I needed a 3D x tray (CT scan). They said it was not covered by my insurance. They told me they would bill my insurance for a Panoramic radiograph crest which was covered but that I would still have to pay $284.00 out of pocket . Since they said I needed to have this CT what was I to do!?!? It all went so fast I really didn't have time to think. I guess I should have left at that point. But we trust these "professionals" know what's best for us. And this place was a referral from my former dentist (which I was at for almost 20 years) But I really shouldn't have been charged at all . This was all very unethical to begin with. I am a person of integrity. After this experience I felt very apprehensive about going to another dentist I did my research and found BARSOUM Dental care. I saw them yesterday and They took me back to do a Pano X-ray and I told them that I wasn't sure if I could get another one since I had just had one a few weeks earlier. They said no worries they didn't charge for this !!! And on top of that took several more other X-rays. This confirmed my suspicion to begin with. The Shark/Used car sales man vibes were spot on. The best of the best! Thorough, organized, excellent staff, and most of all--compassionate care. My husband and I have been patients for years with all the trials and tribulations of aging/breaking teeth. I have been to Dr. Gilbert for extraction/implant surgeries. My husband, whose teeth are a real challenge, has had his implants installed in a jaw that required some real work-arounds. Dr. Gilbert can do it. He can solve the tough problems by creative thinking, and goes the extra mile to make sure that his patients are treated well. The staff is beyond wonderful and make us feel comfortable, always. Even the front desk is kind about all the required paperwork and patient with us. I recently had a real dental emergency (broken molar that was so painful). Dr. Gilbert moved heaven and earth to help me out and extract the tooth, even with a full schedule of patients. "You are in pain, Let's get you in as soon as possible." I was referred by my general dentist and I thanked him for directing me to this facility. My son had all four of his wisdom teeth removed yesterday. I was so impressed by everything at this doctors office. All of his staff was super helpful and friendly. The building was super clean and very nice. The inside was amazing!! I felt like I was in Beverly Hills. The Dr was amazing and also a very caring person.
