I came here to get a second opinion from Dr. Newbold for Gum surgery. Dr. Newbold saw me and evaluated my gums and said the surgery was not necessary. He recommended a follow up visit to see if my gum recession gets worse which I scheduled. I asked him for a quote for the surgery incase its needed so I can budget and save. Gum surgery could cost anywhere between 1k-5k. Dr.Newbold approved getting me a quote at the front desk. I was in a hurry so I told the front desk I'll email them the surgery quotes and in person they approved sending me the quote for the surgery. I emailed them multiple times afterwards and they refused to send me the quote the doctor approved. They kept telling me to call them but even in one instance when I called they refused to give me the quote over the phone. I emailed them to cancel my follow up visit. After I cancelled they suddenly billed me $130 dollars. When I called them before hand and saw them in person they also told me insurance covered my visit. Their team did not actually check if my visit was covered the two times I asked. Dr. Newbold himself is fine to see as a dentist, but the people working the front desk are abysmal and deceitful. Doesn't really make sense for me to pay $130 after they refused to give me quotes for the surgery, which is why I made the appointment in the first place. read more

I have been a patient since 1988 and "love" Dr. Daniel Kunihira and his wonderful - amazing staff. I recently decided to get crown lengthening and was a little anxious the day of the surgery. However, Dr. Mark K. was extremely patient and made sure I was definitely numb for this type of gum surgery. I was expecting pain after numbness wore off but fortunately it was just a bit uncomfortable for a few days. No real pain to speak of so it was a HUGE success. I love the outcome (my teeth now look bigger - no gummy smile)...and now I heal for 2 months and begin procedure to get 8 veneers. So excited! I have been seeing Dr. Kunihira for about 35 years. I have a inherited problem with my teeth since I was six although I did not meet Dr. Kunihira until my 39s. He is the absolute best and I have never been upset with any of his work. He is gentle, explains procedure, and maybe most important, knows what he is doing. He has been teaching at Loma Linda Dental School for years. Dr is cutting back on his practice but is son Dr. Mark Kunihira has been working with him for years and I feel like I have gotten the best of both dentists. I was referred to this clinic by Dentist Tia Dennis of hospitality Dental. I came in and told this dentist that, I just want my tooth pulled. He refused to listen to me and Started ordering x-ray. I was in pain and just let it go. After the extraction, they clerk charged me $99 as my copay portion. Later they sent me a bill demanding additional $190 after they have collected another $235from my insurance. They charged me for 2 x-rays and almost $200 for examination. What examination? I just needed my tooth pulled. I could've gone anywhere in LA and pay less than $50 for this thing to be pulled. First, they didn't discus the billing with me before doing this. If I was going to be charged almost $300 out of pocket, shouldn't I be informed before that? I complaint about this to Tia Dennis and she, they were supposed to discuss billing with me before going forward. My point is, they told me after the procedure that, my portion of the payment was $99 and later started including obscene charges to make extra money of the insurance and when the realized that, my insurance wasn't going to pay them, they transferred that to me. These guys are not honest. We should be able to trust our medical professionals not distrust them. I vehemently do not trust trust this guy. Just trying to make more of people. read more

Fantastic office with the most friendly & courteous staff. I had my first gum grafting procedure done in November by Dr. Mark & he made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. I was very nervous, but he explained what he was doing during the procedure & was very informative which helped me to stay as calm as possible. After the procedure I was given thorough post surgery instructions & was even called personally by Dr. Mark to ask how I was doing. All follow up appointments have been quick & easy. Going to this office is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The 3 top things I love about Dr. Kunihira's office: 1) Dr. Kunihira is excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all caring. 2) The office staff is amazing, they are all so friendly and helpful 3) I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes in the waiting room. The doctor is always on time. I came to him with a missing tooth, and a history of 2 failed dental implants from a previous surgeon. He was confident that he could make it work, so I agreed to the 3rd procedure. He was very cautious with my surgery and my healing. He saw much more often than I anticipated after my surgery to ensure proper healing, and I was incredibly grateful that he cared so much about its success. I have really bad dental anxiety and he was beyond just understanding and he made every effort to make me as comfortable as possible. I am happy to report that my implant was a SUCCESS and I am so happy with the results. Dr. Kunihira worked very closely with my general dentist to coordinate healing and crown placement, and he took on the task of doing much of the crown prep to ensure the success of the implant.
