Dr Gibson performed a knee replacement surgery on my right knee 10 years ago. I was told to get x-ray every year. After 5 years, his office would not see me anymore, because they did not accept my health care insurance any longer. I'm now starting my tenth year,and my knee is back to the way it was before. Locking, Buckling, very painful, and I'm using a cane again. Now I need to start all over again with someone else. All I wanted from Dr Gibson is to stand by his work, and fix the problems. He stated this knee replacement would last 15 to 20 years. I barely got 10. He might be a excellent orthopedic surgeon but if he does not stand by his work, then what good is he. I came to here due to a broken wrist - and needed to get a cast/splint recommended by Urgent Care. I left here getting a 2nd opinion and I'm glad I did. I sat with the Dr. for about 10 minutes after he looked at the X-ray disc and recommended I get surgery within a week. I was a little concerned that he would recommend this as I felt no empathy, nor did he even take off my current splint to evaluate or go over the X-rays with me so I could understand the severity of the condition. At least the office was clean and the staff was friendly. read more

I went here for a knee replacement issue. Originally my appointment was with Dr. Kim although his office staff pressured me into seeing Dr. Gibson since they said it was his expertise. I ended up seeing Dr. Gibson multiple times, we continuously did tests but the doctor did not give any insight on what the problem was. In the end it was a big waste of time and costly copays with no diagnosis of what the issue was. The wait time at the office was lengthy, and Dr. Gibson seem not to have much compassion to understand his patients. I don't not understand all these raving reviews on yelp, as my experience was below average to poor. read more

I was referred to Dr. Gibson by my sports doctor for a condition that required surgery. From our first meeting onward, I found Dr. Gibson to be friendly, attentive, insightful and genuinely concerned with my well-being. In an era of rushed doctors, he took the time to thoroughly understand my condition and was able to confirm my diagnosis by running a simple test. In terms of scheduling, my schedule is all over the damn place and I really appreciated their flexibility in scheduling my surgery. The nurse that schedules surgeries works mornings only, but she always got back to me promptly when I left a message for her. My surgery would be best described as a non-event. I checked into the surgery center, changed into a surgery gown, then was made comfortable by the staff. One thing I *really* liked is that I was asked at every step of the way what kind of surgery I was going to have and who I was to ensure I received the proper treatment. They even go so far as to have both you and the surgeon write our initials on the part of your body to be operated upon. There's 0% chance you're going to have the wrong surgery when working with Gibson. The nurse that took care of changing my bandages after my surgery is named Paul. He's a good guy, patient and seems to really know what he is doing. He also has a wicked sense of humor, which I like. My follow-on care has been great; I am healing more-or-less in the time frame that Dr. Gibson gave me. I will be heading in tomorrow for my final follow-up visit and expect to be told that I can get back to hitting the gym straight away. It's also worth noting that Gibson has earned the "Patient's Choice" award for a high-level of consistent patient care and I have to say that I think he's earned it. I hope I never need another sports-related surgery, but if I do, I'll definitely use Dr. Gibson again. (On a side note, I've already referred one friend who describes herself as an 'emotional girl' and Gibson's found a way to keep her happy. So if you fall into that category, Gibson might also be an especially good fit for you.) read more

After fighting insurance companies for almost a year to have knee surgery due to a fall in the work place, I was finally on Dr. Gibson's table. He had been treating me for a torn ACL and tears in the lateral and medial menisci. His bedside manner is superb and he is quite honestly the best doctor I have ever been treated by. He really is genuinely concerned for his patients. My surgery went so well that as I was coming out of anesthesia, I was telling the nurses how much I loved him and how great of a doctor he is.. I blushed from embarrassment, but it's the truth. I already have referred people to him and will continue doing so. He really is the best. read more

This is a very bad practice from a client service point of view. They never return messages, are always reactive and generally don't care. I have now been waiting for a month to get a treatment done, approved by my insurance, but they keep saying it was denied and they will resubmit next week. Their office manager is one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to and just doesn't care. Due to his really bad attitude and complaining about being short staffed, and having over 80 patients blah, blah .... I will never know if Dr. Gibson does a great job with knee replacement as clearly, according to the office manager, I am not important enough to be offered the care I need. There are many, many orthopedic surgeons in Orange County and I will find a practice that is focused on patient care and not specializing in excuses. Shocking experience. read more

Received a cortisone shot for knee arthritis which did not work. Was then advised to try a series of three jell shots. The first shot showed no improvement. Made appointment for second shot. Half an hour after my appointment several patients who come in later were called ahead of me. I cancelled my appointment and do not intend to go any further for additional treatment. read more

Dr. Gibson was recommended by my Primary Dr. for a torn Miniscus. I had the surgery and I am virtually pain-free after 7 yrs. Went back recently for a cortisone injection to my thumb for arthritis. I had Kaiser for 30 years. I was told that the arthritis in both knees was bad in 2010 but I did not meet their criteria for total knee replacement. One of their criteria was that I needed to be 65. After injections, PT appointments, and 2 orthopedic surgical consults I quit kaiser in disgust. I was using a walker and was having difficulty driving my car. Everyday was a struggle. A friend of mine referred me to Dr Gibson. At my first visit , after having looked at my X-rays, Dr Gibson asked me which knee I wanted to do first. I had my right knee done in November 2015 and my left knee done in April 2016. I am walking a mile and riding my bicycle 4 miles a day...something I have not been able to do in years. This is the first time I've ever wanted to, or ever had the desire to write a review on Yelp until now. In the past I've had six surgeries, in the course of 27 years, performed by four different, good Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeons and all have been successful. I've had two Total Hip Replacements and more. However, I have never felt compelled to publicly shout out to the world or even write a review until I met Dr. Timothy Gibson. His skill is beyond excellent. His attentiveness, demeanor, compassion and personality are unlike any doctor that I have ever experienced before. Before my surgery he cautioned me that the pain I might experience after surgery could and most likely would be and I quote "a lot of pain"! Even my friends and family members warned me of all the complications. I had no choice. My knee was in terrible shape and I'd waited too many years already. Dr. Gibson performed a Total Knee Replacement on me May 3rd, 2016. Now I'm told that the Physical Therapy would take 3 to 6 months. To my own amazement, eight weeks after surgery I no longer need to use a walker or even a cane. The minor pain that I still have isn't even enough for me to need aspirin or Tylenol. Highly recommended. Not overly friendly and somewhat to-the-point, but I could care less about that. I just needed someone who could do a great job of fixing my knee and who wasn't going to push something unnecessary on me that I didn't need, and that's exactly what I got. I saw him for a torn ACL several years back. From the very first visit he immediately instilled confidence in me that he was extremely competent and very professional. He wasn't rushed at all, and took the time to explain all my questions in a way I could understand. I actually had to go back and have a revision surgery to my original operation since it didn't heal the way they expected it to, but even in this Dr. Gibson impressed me. I could see he wasn't trying to push another surgery on me just to make a buck - I was actually the one pushing to have the revision done, but he wanted to wait a little longer until he was certain I actually needed one. Great, great surgeon. In May I tore my subcapularis muscle completely off my shoulder during a freak surfing accident. The procedure I had done essentially involved reattaching the muscle to my shoulder bone using an anchor attached to my tendon. It was a pretty rare type of injury and the more I read online, I realized that not many surgeons had performed this type of procedure on this particular muscle. This was the fourth procedure Dr. Gibson had performed like this and he did a fantastic job. Most importantly as an avid swimmer I was back in the pool in August. Listen to everything he tells you to do, and I believe that you'll have a great recovery. And just an FYI he was my doctor's doctor which says a lot. I know everyone recovers different but the pain after the surgery and during physical therapy was minimal. His office is busy which also says a lot. I know having surgery can be rather daunting, scary, and depressing but Gibson went above and beyond my expectations. Dr. Gibson and all of his staff are wonderful! As far as the visit went, I was anxious to hear what he was going to say about my leg. But as soon as we met he was so friendly and asked me so many things to get as much information about my injury as possible. Dr. Gibson has a nice new office conveniently located off of Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach. His staff is nice and efficient. I had no trouble getting an appointment. Dr. Gibson is friendly. He made me feel very comfortable when I went in. I had a very bad case of tennis elbow. He was able to relieve my pain and told me how to try and prevent the pain in the future. I really appreciate him helping me because I could barely text when I went in and now after helping me, my arm is pain free. read more
