I rescued a potcake puppy, Chester, at the end of April. I have young kids at home and felt that, even being a puppy, he was very high-energy and very difficult to control. This is also our family's first dog, so we are total rookies. We all needed training, really! My friend runs a dog rescue non-profit and recommended David as he has a deep understanding of the potcake breed (among others). We went in for an initial evaluation. David determined that our puppy is a high drive dog that requires good leadership and socialization. We started with the socialization and sent him for the day to be around other dogs. It tired him out and David told us he did great with the other dogs. The problems still remained at home, though. He was nipping my 18 month old, chewing anything he could reach (which was starting to include anything on the counters since he is growing so quickly), and was pulling us on the leash when we would walk him. We did our best to try and stop him from continuing these behaviors, but our best just wasn't doing the trick. I reached out to David after a particularly rough day with Chester. He recommended the 5 night leash training package he offers. We thought it sounded perfect for Chester as it would give us the opportunity to fix all of the aforementioned issues we were having. The dog is boarded for this program and is away for the full 5 days, and so this package also included leash training for me each day (without the dog), so that I could continue training him properly when I brought him home. In regards to this part of the training, David is very clear about the commands, rewards and "marking" you should be doing. This will be invaluable when you take the dog home. Also, a bit of a sidenote, but my almost 5 year old was really sad at the thought of sending Chester away for 5 nights. David was an awesome communicator and sent us videos of him playing with other dogs and working on his training sessions. He also posts on Facebook regularly so you get to see how much fun the dogs have. When I picked Chester up, I watched David with him and could tell this was going to be a positive experience. He wasn't pulling, he was listening and following commands. I understand that David can only do so much amazing work and the rest, of course, falls on the owner to maintain all the work he does on the dogs. But luckily David, as I mentioned before, is an excellent communicator and always offers advice when needed. I also left with Chester feeling like I was really well-trained. Chester is doing AMAZING at home. He's great on a leash, responds to the marking and understands when he does something "good" and is rewarded. We'll be going back for daycare for socialization as well as boarding when we are away (the facility is wonderful). We've also discussed remote/off-leash training in the future. We never experienced David as a trainer because of our amusing experience during what he calls "evaluation" - he charges $225 for an opportunity for an 80's style hard-sell: he scares a dog first and calls it "pray drive;" he makes references to psychology legends such as Edward Thorndike; he compares himself with the most famous dog trainers and how underpriced he is; he instills the sense of urgency - did you know that your friendly dog was an evil creature that immediately requires a weekly training course (he does not actually say that; he wants to you come to this conclusion)? He is really good with this type of mental attack - highly recommend to business majors who want to experience hard-sell practices of the 80's. Just remember that you'll pay $225 for the privilege. read more

David is a wonderful trainer! We brought Mango, our 10 month old GSD, who was aggressive to anyone, including my 9 y.o. sons friends, whenever they entered our house. Mango was friendly and socialized outside our property, but would attempt to bite anyone who stepped into our driveway. Mango, also doubles as a Houdini, can unlock and open any door (including with child locks) and would go outside whenever he heard anyone close to our property. Multiple dog owners recommended David. We brought Mango in and were told that he was spoiled (I mean how can he not be, he's so handsome), not properly socialized and tightly wound. David boarded Mango for 2 weeks and worked with us intently everyday on proper dog handling. At the end of the training, Mango came home a new dog. He was very relaxed, listened- even my son could handle him. We're very grateful to David for training our dog. David runs a high quality training center: the kennels were always clean (my dog didn't smell like urine or feces when he came home signaling he was kept clean). I recieved video updates and was welcomed to work my dog with other dogs to ensure I had proper management prior to him coming home. I would highly recommend David. read more

Don't waste your time. David charges too much and doesn't care what you are looking for as an outcome, nor will he let you speak or ask questions. He is not a dog trainer, but a prong collar trainer instead. I picked my dog up with several cuts on her head, and he had the collar on so tight I could hardly release it. I wasn't going to leave a review until I saw that he comments/insults back like an unprofessional business owner. He also tried getting me to do further "sessions" for $60/hour. He trains you for 15 minutes and get gets fed up. Doing basic math, I would love to know how he is worth $240 an hour. He also never trained me with my dog. He meets you in the lot and puts a loose leash on his wrist. How am I going to learn on a loose leash when you basically had my dog choking. A lot play. He also tries to get another 1500 dollars for him to provide and train you on an electric collar once he tells you you're not good enough. That's just a scam. read more

David is a fantastic trainer. In august we adopted a four year old pitbull mix that we didn't know the background of. He was a handful to say the least so we sought our David. David spent countless hours with our dog and us to make sure we were also trained as well. Since going to David, our dog has made massive improvements and I have so much more trust in my dog. We are huge fans of David and his training methods. We adopted a southern stray, Wrangler, last October. Wrangler was very sick and malnourished when we got him, so he was very chill and didn't do a whole lot. Once we nursed him back to health, we realized we had more on our hands than we could handle (aggressive, guarding, sub-par recall). We did a training course with another local trainer, who taught Wrangler some basic commands I could have taught him on my own, but they did nothing to correct his behavior issues. After doing some searching, we found David and decided to give him a try. He spent a lot of time with us in our home and his facility to train both us and Wrangler. This was great as it got Wrangler to a place where he was no longer guarding the home. After that, we still noticed that Wrangler had leash reactivity issues, so we worked with David to get Wrangler on a stim collar. We've talked with other friends who have their dogs on this kind of training, and are 110% positive we found the best in David. Now we have a happy, well-adjusted dog, and an awesome, reliable place to board our dog when we go on vacation. I can see how some people may not like David's methods, but give him a shot. Yes, he can come across as tough at first, but he's just telling it like it is and isn't one to sugarcoat. If you can't handle the truth, then maybe David isn't the trainer for you. But if you want real results and skills that can help you and your dog live happier lives, then give David a shot. He's the best and you can tell he really loves the dogs and has their best interests in mind. read more

I had an EXTREMELY traumatic and horrific experience when I met David. Before meeting I explained my dogs issues and admitted I am not a fit owner for him which obviously is a beyond heartbreaking realization. I am trying to do what is best for my dog to give him a successful life with an experienced GSD owner and handler. David first never asked for consent to video tape me. I explained to David before he handled my dog that he has never fully worn a muzzle, I completely understand that safety is everyone's top priority. My dog was visibly extremely stressed and anxious during his 5 minute interaction with David which ultimately lead to my dog acting out and trying to bite David. My dog was not a good fit for David and David explained that my dogs ONLY hope was to put down immediately and was EXTREMELY harsh, aggressive and condescending. He took no time to explain anything more to me. He then decided to post the video again without consent to make himself look good without explaining in the caption what short, aggressive conversation took place afterwards. Nowhere in that caption did he explain that my dogs only hope was DEATH! I will continue to try to find my dog a trainer that has the patience and empathy to help him. This is an EXTREMELY heartbreaking and difficult experience for myself and my family. My best friend is a GSD! He is very attached to his parents, and me too a point. Guarding was an issue. We all came together for chase and called David. Was very hard at the beginning, David knows his stuff and comes across very harsh at first, but knows it's not always the dogs fault. It's us , the people who take care of the dog! And we don't want to hear that lol. Anyways.. chase had a bad first meeting, second and 1/2 of third meeting were muzzled. David through 3 rd session gained trust in chase! We got him off muzzle and walking beside David, myself and other dogs. 4 th visit today went extremely well with dad. Got to leave chase with David for the day. Alls well, chase is tired, David is doing great, myself and chases parents all well and happy! Thank you David for taking in this boy when u didn't want too. Thank you for giving him a chance. I recently adopted a one-year old dog from down south. A bit over my head, we looked for trainers in our area to help us out. David's company came up and he was willing to meet with us the same day (Thank goodness because I was pulling my hair out with frustration!). David is a no-fluff kind of trainer who clearly knows his stuff. He tells it like it is, doesn't beat around the bush, and gets right down to the root of the dog and the owners issue. I think the bottom line here is that I do not dread walks with our pup anymore thanks to David. We had tried several trainers, and they just didn't work for our pit bull mix. David taught me how to handle her, kept her for several days for training, and the change was enormous. It gets better every day. Our dog loves him, and loves going to daycare and boarding. David met my husband and I along with our dog Brando and knew exactly what we all needed instantly. David trained my dog but more so trained my husband and I, so we could keep up with it and continuously be working on better behavior. My dog is doing so well and now goes to daycare with David and all the other doodles & dogs and absolutely loves it. David trained two of our dogs, a four-month-old basset hound Lucy and a nine-year-old dalmatian Mia. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks and they are WRONG! The dalmatian has always been an aggressive dog. We never took the time to train her or understand her needs. When Lucy came along, Mia was rather aggressive to her. David, no doubt, has the talent and experience training not only well behaved dogs but also those with behavior and aggression issues. In our case, it was also training the owners in addition to the dogs and understanding their unmet needs. David's training has exceeded my expectations and every single dollar spent was well worth it. When we got the dogs back I was hoping for a peaceful coexistence. David has only worked with my dog for two days (overnight), and she's already a different dog. She was always playful, happy with people, and minded me very well, especially off leash. Recently, however, she started going after other dogs, even those she's met before who were perfectly nice, for no reason. Turns out, my lack of leash walks had caused a decline in her and I hadn't shown her who was boss when it comes to manners. She's not really a jumper or a huge barker at people, but started to recently with people coming to the door in her space. It has now stopped totally, and our leash walks are going SO well. She's responsive and behaving, and I feel much more confident with her meeting other dogs. We'll be back to dog parks in no time. He will take her for 2 more days to continue working with her, and he also works with me each day to go over the leash commands. I never thought my pup would be "aggressive," and I'm so grateful for David to help us! And, I'm relieved that it's not her general disposition that has changed permanently, and that she just needed more behavioral training. I would recommend David to anyone! His daycare and boarding is HUGE and he has land right across the parking lot the dogs can play off leash. The dogs trust him and know him, and it's really amazing to see (he sent me videos of my dog's progress, and I could clearly see the trust the other dogs have for him, even with the "newbie" dog who was on a leash and wasn't super nice at first"). High quality training, boarding, and care. Your dog will have whatever attention he/she needs while with David. I'm looking forward to learning more from him, even though I'll miss my pup when she's gone with him for 2 more nights. It's well worth it!! read more

David has helped us tremendously! We got our Great Dane at 8 months and shortly after had some issues with him guarding us and showing aggression towards strangers. We were one step away from giving up our pup when we found David's training school. David has not only helped balance and train our dog to have better behaviors and redirect his insecurities and fear but he taught us how to be better dog owners. We continue to have a great working relationship with David and our pup now goes to his training school two days a week to maintain his manners and get socialization. While he is with David, we receive picture and video updates throughout his day. The dogs space when they are not training or socializing is clean and roomy and his staff is friendly and love on our Dane. David also provides great feedback at the end of every day. We contacted David Kaye because we were having issues with pulling and reacting to other dogs while on walks. It got to the point where I really didn't want to walk my dog because it was stressful. David Kaye started working with our dog and with me, and I noticed a difference withing a few training sessions. She no longer pulls me when we're walking. He also taught me how to manage her behavior before she starts reacting to another dog barking at her. We are back to enjoying our walks together, and I feel much more in control when I need to modify her behavior. We also send our dog to Adventure Walk, the doggy daycare program, and she absolutely loves it. She gets the socialization that she needs and is exhausted when David brings her home! David is the BEST! I had tried other trainers to help us train our baby. none of them took the time not only to train Gracie but also to train us! Very disappointed" We had an appointment for 8 am on a Sunday. At 8:15 I got a text asking if we were still on and that he was getting a dog at 8:30 but would be by right after. I was still waiting @ 9:15 when I sent a text asking him to give me a time ( already over an hour late), that I had I had things I had to do. No response. Finally at 9:30 I cancelled the appointment and finally I got a response " sorry I lost my generator" followed by a phone call. In which he apologized his fault he lost his generator. I said you could have called I've been waiting since 8. He offered to meet me somewhere ( part of the attraction was he would pick up) or reschedule.. I told him I was all set. He claimed he was the best trainer and had great success, but for the amount of money he wanted for training I deserved a phone call! I was also worried that he would be late for future appointments and I couldn't afford to have that happen. read more

Wow, David is amazing! My husband and I really thought we had a great dog. He listened to us probably half of the time, loved showing us affection and spending time with us, but was reactive with other dogs while on the leash. We thought that's just how he is and accepted it. Luckily, after one session with David we realized that is no way to live! David has worked with our 1.5 year old German shepherd for 3 sessions now and it's been life changing. Mulder is already so much more relaxed and responds to us much more. David has been so amazing showing us how to handle Mulder and ourselves. He's taught us to pay attention to our dog and the cues he gives us. I love that he not only holds the dog accountable for his actions, but us too. He's a great teacher who is exceptional at what he does. I've learned so much just in this one week, more than the past year and a half of dog ownership! I can't recommend him enough! read more
