I am very picky with my housing needs, as a military officer experienced with multiple moves, homes owned, and homes rented (as renter and landlord). Last summer when I had to sell my Waikele house that I rented out for over 20 years, I chose Russ to represent me, instead of the outstanding real estate company that managed this rental house (this company represented me when I initially purchased this house over 20 years ago). I needed an extra special real estate professional, as I was expecting a difficult sale in late 2022. The tenant unexpectedly passed away, the Hawaii housing market crashed, mortgage rates hit historic highs, and the house was in need of major renovations. After interviewing several highly recommended real estate professionals, including those that UpNest arranged for me, I discovered Russ. It was only after extensive interviews that I discovered what a hidden gem Russ was. The low number of customer reviews on the various real estate websites do not do Russ justice. The result? As I live on the mainland and had not returned to Hawaii for 15 years, I had to rely on Russ to handle 100% of my house renovation and house sale in Hawaii. Russ handled $100K of upgrades to the entire house -- from new roof to new everything inside. He even offered his own personal muscle power to deal with an unexpected plumbing issue that was easy enough for him to handle, instead of paying the contractors additional money to modify the work order that I already paid for. Despite the challenging market, Russ successfully sold the house shortly after opening for almost 7 figures -- much more than I expected. Critical to the sale was all of the sales strategy development, planning, and execution needed to achieve a sales win in a challenging real estate market. Though I am extremely picky, Russ continually earned my trust with his constant updates, immediate solutions to arising issues, and sound judgment, that I deferred most of the decisions to Russ the deeper we got into the renovations. We decided to show up at random open houses hoping that we would recognize our perfect home when we walked through the door. No such thing happened. We went to an open house on a Sunday in Pearl City and met Tim as he readied the house for showing. We were the typical first time wannabe home buyers, critiquing the paint, the flooring, the sizes of the room and the state of the appliances and bathroom. Tim talked to us and immediately zeroed in on the important stuff: what were we looking for? What is important to us, location or size of the home? Were we looking to remodel or were we looking for a place that was move-in ready? Tim's personality gelled with ours immediately. He is genuine, trustworthy and has a more "local" personality for our taste. He wasn't pushy at all and after speaking to us asked if we were working with a particular realtor. We asked if he was available. He did warn us that in the real estate market, houses move fast. He does his due diligence in getting the latest homes on the market and letting his clients know immediately when they're available. He has even driven clients on their lunch break to see a home! When we started working with Tim we were newlyweds. As we continued our search we found out we were pregnant. Tim continued to scour the housing market for homes that fit in our budget (a never ending fluctuation as we considered our finances) and was not disheartened at all when we told him that we wanted to see something in the 250K and below range. When baby came we took a hiatus from our search and Tim would still contact us periodically to see how we were doing and if we were ready to roll.
