My husband and I just returned home from our stay at Unit 164 at the Kahala Beach Apartments. This spot is good value for the money. This was our second time staying at Kahala Beach and we love it there. It is located within a 10-15 minute drive of Waikiki Beach, Costco and the Kahala Mall. We actually often walked to the Whole Foods Store and enjoyed looking at the houses and the beautiful flowers and trees. The unit is a little dated but is clean and comfortable, has a full kitchen and is very roomy. The washer and dryer was an added bonus. Our son and his wife stayed with us for two weeks and there was lots of room for everyone. We loved the lanai because it was shaded and we could sit out there in comfort all day if we wanted to. My husband loved taking a nap on the big daybed out there. The complex is really lovely, the tropical gardens are lush and well maintained, and the koi pond is so peaceful and relaxing.The pool is clean and is hardly ever busy, and you have direct access to the beach. The gym was a bonus for my very fit daughter-in-law and we all chose books from the library. If you want a quiet place away from the hubbub of Waikiki (but close enough if you want to go for a visit), then this is a great place to stay. We stayed in a beautiful oceanfront home at Kahala Apartments for a solid month. We had relatives from England join us in our 2-bedroom apartment. They say they had such a great time they'll be back (that was the idea because we'd like to live there one day)! Kimo and Midori's helpful arrival and departure arrangements all worked smoothly. The warm, gentle ocean waters were just a few steps way. Imagine staying in the water for as long as desired without getting chilled. Then having an outside fresh hot water shower to remove sand and salt before sunbathing around the lovely pool and choosing a book from the library. Then a walk home through a tropical garden and a chance to greet the colorful koi! Also, being within a few more steps of the amenities of one of the finest, classiest hotels in the Islands or having a meal there (buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs and kahalasadas for example.) Within 15-minutes from Costco to stock up, 5-minutes from a full service Mall and 20-minutes from Waikiki and food and music galore!
