One star is generous to say the least. Every aspect of this practice is disgraceful. After many years of orthodontiat service Dr. Ostreicher was unable to strengthen my teeth. He tried his best to convince me that my teeth were Corrected and perfectly straight when they clearly needed additional straightening. After paying him 5k for service , he wanted an additional 3,700. to "try his best " to straighten them. He actually said to me " I never promise my clients straight teeth !!!!!" This place is a joke and I would advise anyone who is thinking of coming here not to, look elsewhere!!! Iam a dental assistant and I'm not an idiot and this man told me things that makes no sence to the procedures that we had done. The doctor tells me that my childs tooth grew bigger in shape and that's why it's not straight anymore. Ya no your teeth dont just grow bigger. I had to pay alot of money to get invisalign put back on we had previously done reg braces but do To my childs wisdom teeth coming in and her not wearing the retainer like she should I had to get them put back on. As a previous patient I asked for a discount which I was not given. I was told my child would have these new ones on for 1 year.. he took them off in 3 months telling me her teeth were straight which they were not. I fought with him about it and that's when he said her teeth grew bigger in shape which does not happen. He got so mad that he had an assistant put the braces back on which he didnt even do correctly. When you get these invisline trays they take a mold and send it to the place who then sends u the trays he only ordered 3 months worth instead of 1 year and that's what the problem was he took my money told me it was for 1 year and didnt get one year worth of trays so he was just trying to make easy money by pocketing the rest. He told the assistant to modify her old trays and told her to wear those for a few weeks. I was beyond pissed off. I also signed a contract that said to fix the retainer It was free for a year. After the retainer was put on they broke often for 400 dollars each it should not have broken at all. I had a permanent retainer and it lasted 20 years before breaking. Now after 3 months from the past break it broke again We go in there to get it fixed only to be told that there is an office fee of 40 dollars NO WHERE ON THE CONTRACT DOES IT SAY THERE IS AN OFFICE VISIT FEE TO FIX IT, IT SAYS FREE TO FIX FOR OME YEAR PRIOR TO THE BRACES COMING OFF . Then they say o sorry no one told you but that's the policy... I asked about 100 times when I signed up for this that the braces would be on for a year that this price was for everything that the retainer was free to fix for one year I got all yeses yes its on for a year yes this fee included exams ,post ops , xrays, the retainers and the trays. They even billed extra once. Thankngod I had all my receipts I paid for the while thing over a course of a few weeks and then all of a sudden my account was charged for the monthly payment. It took a 2 weeks to get that money back and they couldn't refund it to my bank they had to write me a check. I paid for a service I signed a contract and now there blowing out hidden fees!!! I work in an office those appts. after the work is done are called post op visits and are included with your fee. If the contract says FREE for one year that means it's free for one year. This place is all about money and scheming every chance they can. And funny thing as soon as I told the doctor I was a dental assistant when he tried to tell me my childs teeth were straight he had a nasty attitude and I never saw him after that. Be careful here on everything you sign and what these people tell you cause if you dont know any better your kid is going to have messed up teeth anyway. And.... they dont let you in the room with your kid. My child came out one time so upset cause the man started shaving down her tooth so it matched the others meanwhile it was the tooth not being straight it had to be corrected with the braces thats why it didnt match the other teeth but to fast track it and to shut me up he decided to start shaving her tooth and didnt even ask me about it. How do u go and do something like that with out telling the parent. This place is a joke and now my kid has a broken retainer that I paid 400 dollars for which I'll have to take off since they wont fix it for free like the contract says. DONT GO HERE! read more

I have been using him for many years and while I will admit I am an awful patient who never wears my retainer he called me retarded and incompetent for not wearing them. FYI I am low spectrum and told him I understand I'm a bad patient and he still said this to me. I confronted him (while crying because I was so disgusted and distraught) about this and told him I was going to put these reviews up and he told me not to and that he was sorry and that he talks like that to his kids, and how apparently he has Aspergers (which if that's the case you should know not to use such words) anyway I am not your child and I feel bad for them no parent should say that to their kids-I feel it is important to put these up. I took my two teenage daughters to this guy for a consultation for braces. I had almost no questions except when he said that the braces should be put on before they had to have certain teeth pulled. I mentioned that a prior dentist said that the teeth should be pulled before the braces were put on. His response? "Where did you go to dental school"? After deciding not to throw this passive aggressive SOB out the window he explained that the braces are put on first so the dentist knows which teeth to pull because they screw it up (implying that all dentists are morons and can't follow instructions). I don't know what the correct procedure is but the manner in which he handled my question was pure condescension. Now, onto billing. My insurance gave me a predetermination saying the maximum this office could charge was about $2,100 (for each daughter). The front desk insisted that didn't cover the retainer and 2 years of follow-up care and that the charge is $2,950. I called my insurance company on two occasions and both times they said that he could only charge the $2,100 and that the predetermination included the retainer and 2 years of follow-ups. They went so far as to say that he was probably in breach of the contract between the insurance company and the office. They suggested that I file a complaint. I didn't go that route but instead went to another orthodontist. The front desk at this place insisted that they spoke to my insurance company and that they said that the additional charge was valid (she of course couldn't provide the name of who she spoke to at the insurance company but she'd been doing this for 20 years). That was when I made my second call to my insurance company mentioned above and they said they absolutely cannot charge additional. And finally, the third issue. Instead of having my daughters get more x-rays in such a short time span it was suggested that I call to get copies of their x-rays. I spoke to a gentleman at the front desk that told me the charge to email 4 x-rays (2 for each daughter) was $100! Rather than fight I paid via credit card. I didn't receive the email in time to complete my consultation at the new orthodontist, and when I called the office back I was literally laughed at and told that no male answers the phones so my request never happened. Giggling in the background the entire time. Finally I was told that "Paul" (to the best of my recollection) answered and that the x-rays were sent. They in fact had been sent and ended up in my spam (as well as the spam of my new orthodontist). It still took 45 minutes to pull up 4 digital files and email them.... For $100. I've been told that charging this much could be a violation of HIPPA and I'll probably look into that. This entire office from the orthodontist down to the staff are an unprofessional disgrace. I was petrified as an adult to go in for orthodontic treatment. Dr. O is amazing! He is quick witted and very knowledgeable. My teeth are looking amazing, and I'm only about 2/3 of the way done with treatment. The entire staff is amazingly friendly, and they are just about the best. Everyone really cares and the equipment and offices are clean and top of the line. He is one of the top Invisalign guys in the biz, and was able to take my REALLY jacked up grill, and fix it right up with just Invisalign. I've been to other orthodontists and I've been told i'd need jaw surgery and all other manner of horrific treatments. But lo, just a simple set of Invisalign with a couple of rubber bands, and I'm on my way to a movie star smile. Dr. Ostreicher is the best! I was referred to him by my aunt who took my cousin to him for braces. From the initial appt, he was very knowledgeable and told me what would be the best method to straighten my teeth. We decided to go with Invisalign. Every time I have a follow-up appt, he is friendly and welcoming! I've had some issues with the insurance/financial person. She wasn't too pleasant but in the end we were able to get it together. I would recommend anyone to him! His office is always packed but they move really fast and stay true to appointment times. read more

I've been coming here for 6 months now and I mist say that he is a good dentist and he does a great job. I saw some comments stating that they've never been seen by Dr. Ostreicher, I think that's a lie because everytime that I come there he goes over to everyone being seen, looks at their teeth and give very specific instructions to the person putting the braces on additionally, no orthodontists can promise you perfect teeth after braces ( you can literally look this up on the internet) everyone teeth is not the same and some teeth convert back quicker than others or some issues such as tooth shaping or a crooked smile cannot be fixed with braces. If you look it up online it specially states that if you are unhappy with your smile after braces then you should consider getting another cosmetic procedure which again cost more money; that's not a free charge. Additionally, it also states that the reason why most people teeth convert back is because their failure to wear their retainers after treatment which is once again not the dentist fault. The only thing I saw that I agree with out of all these reviews are the ones about the receptionists. The receptions are rude as hell most of the time. I'm not sure what happened to this practice but since Sharon, the office manager took over, the practice is awful . Besides from being unsanitary , Dr. Ostreicher is clearly incompetent. After a year of treatment and difficulty straightening my teeth, he actually said to me " I never promised you straight teeth , your teeth look fine ! I was very satisfied when i walked in with my 7 year old daughter for a consultation. My daughter needs braces but i wanted to know when she should get them and if they would recommend removal of two teeth (My dentist recommended removal of two teeth.) My daughter was already nervous because shes only 7 and our dentist had already recommended removing teeth so it didnt matter what i told her, in her mind-she was going here to remove teeth!! LOL.. We walked in and the receptionist girl was super sweet. Told me what i needed to complete and didnt rush me at all. Sometimes you walk into a new place and they talk very quickly that you dont understand at all But not here she was very specific and very patient. They were very busy but i didnt feel rushed at all. When the girl came out and called my daughters name, She knew immediately that my daughter was nervous and she was so patient and so sweet with her. She told her about her kids and talked about school and what my daughters' likes were, and her activities. She explained everything to my daughter. When Dr. Ostreicher came out and told us she wouldnt need braces until next year-she was ecstatic. I was very happy when he said he wouldnt recommend removing teeth. Overall it was a good consultation. We will return again in June 2016 and I will update this review. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am an orthodontist in another state and I am also and invisalign expert as is Dr O. I have attended so of the most excellent presentations for Orthodontists that he has presented. I recall that he is direct, and some of the doctors with thin skins may be offended, but I am certain that he was attempting to both use humor, and yet make important points. I am very confident recommending him to others. (and yes, like a good restrant, that is worth going to, there will be a lot of people there - also this is a good sign that people choose to be there! By the way, when we treat people in the industry, we occasionally run into the "know it all" that can never be pleased. Avoid at all cost. Dr McAndrews the only bright spot in that office. Dr. Ostreicher literally called my daughter a stupid idiot in front of me because she was 7 and crying, scared to have an impression made. Then she proceeded to vomit all over the room when he basically forced her. I should have left then, i didn't against my better judgement. Now its shady nonsense with billing my dental. I once overheard him having lunch with colleagues at the East Meadow diner. His unedited opinions of his patients were not complimentary or professional. My kids always ask "why is he so rough and Dr. McAndrews isnt?" Oh, and I tore my sweater because there are NAILS sticking out of the 1970's paneling in the waiting room near the entrance. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Ostreicher & Dr. McAndrews for over 3 years and I am completely satisfied with the care I have received during the Invisalign process. I was told that it would take 18 to 24 months to straighten my teeth but my teeth were stubborn and needed more trays and time. Dr. O & Dr. McAndrews never tried to charge me anymore than the original price, they even made special trays in the office to get my teeth perfectly straight. They offer a payment plan and Care credit one year interest free financing to get you started, so there is very little out of pocket once you commit to Invisalign. The office staff is great it's easy to make,change or cancel appointments. It is rare to wait to see either Dr. O. or Dr. McAndrews they always have plenty of staff on hand and the office runs smoothly. There is ample street parking in front of the office. If you are thinking of getting braces or Invisalign this is the office to go to. read more

The front desk staff here dont know what theyre doing. I made an appt and a few days later I get an email confirmation for totally different appt time! Another problem is their office hours- no weekends in the summer and they close at 12 on fridays, they only have 2 days during the work week when they are open past 5pm! Hello! Your patients have jobs!!! We need evening and weekend appointments! Problem #3: The retainers they provide are cheap crap- my regular aligners NEVER broke or cracked and after a month or so of wearing the retainers, they BOTH cracked. The worst part is that this office makes you come BACK IN to take A NEW impression- which makes no sense because the whole point of wearing retainers is so that your teeth DONT MOVE! When I asked about this they gave me a BS excuse stating that "the old impressions were no longer useful". How is that possible when they were taken just 2 months ago!!??!! They just want to bill you/your insurance for yet ANOTHER UNNECESSARY APPOINTMENT. I will never recommend them to anyone. Doctor Ostreicher was nice, seemed knowledgeable and availale on Saturdays which I need due to my work schedule. Street parking was fine. I found a spot right away since it is residential area. The office was too cold and a little annoying with the loud bird they have in their reception area. Staff Elizabeth and Jillian/Julianna were very nice throughout the consultation. The Doctor was speaking too fast and didnt allow me to think of questions along the process. I felt rushed so I made a 2nd consult appointment to get my questions out of the way since they wont allow a phone call. Prices were reasonable and they have affordable payment plans. The reason I chose not to go to this Doctor/Office is mostly due to the feeling of being rushed with my concerns and his extremely rude (multiple occasions) staff member Jean whom I dont want to have to deal with via phone or in person throughout my invisalign treatment. Dr. Ostreicher"s office is like a zoo! Always overcrowded because they overbook appointments and make you suffer. It is also difficult to get an appointment. I was a patient there and he didnt inform me of my tongue thrust and later when I asked him about why I wasnt treated for it he tried to brush me off. Dr. Ostreicher never wanted to meet with me to discuss my treatment and next steps. The treatment was not individualized as needed. He tried to act like he cared but the bottom line you can see he is not geniune their main concern is how much they can get from the insurance company. They even tried to not see me after they were paid up by the insurance company but, after a quick call to my insurance company that all changed!! Just because that is his field he feels like he can talk down to you and you must accept what he says as correct. He speaks too fast and someone who is knowledgeable can see right through this scheming Doctor. If I was you I would run from this office. When you are investing money into your teeth especially the amount the services cost you want to truly understand the process without being belittled and treated like your not worth the time. read more

Let me begin by saying that I have never written a negative online review. I feel compelled to write this because this practice is the absolute worst. The office is very run down and there is always a wait. There are several nice employees, and a few not so nice, but the worst thing is they all seem afraid of their own shadow. It doesn't seem like a good work environment at all, which makes the atmosphere very uncomfortable. They don't allow the parent in the room while your child is having work done, unless you insist. Even then, they make you wait to go in, which makes it very unwelcoming and awkward. But worst of all, this orthodontist broke one of my daughter's teeth by not following the correct procedure for adjusting a deep bite. They never used a bite block, and applied the bottom braces way too soon, so the bracket eventually broke one of her front teeth. In addition to that my daughter hated going there, she always said how Dr Ostreicher "man-handled" her, just pushing her mouth around like she wasn't even human. And my daughter is not a complainer, she literally likes everyone. She gets upset every time I mention this place. I feel so awful for choosing this place for her braces, just because he was in our plan. We were so thankful to finally be done with her braces. But now, to top it all off, I just found out that their "free consultation" for my son, that we got a couple of years ago, was not free. They charged my insurance company for x-rays, consultation/evaluation and photos, without my knowledge or consent! Dr. Ostreicher's "free consultation" was NOT free. He said my son needed braces years ago but two other orthodontist consultations said we should wait, and I am so thankful that we did. Now that it really is time to get him braces, I found out that the amount my insurance will pay for his orthodontic work is decreased because Dr. Ostreicher used some of our benefit! And to make matters even worse, I just got off the phone with their office and they are arguing with me saying that the consultation was "no charge to the patient" which is just sneaky semantics. It most definitely is a charge to the patient because now I have to pay more for his braces due to the claim they filed with my insurance and benefit they were paid. I wasn't going to post about him, but this is the last straw and I feel obligated to warn people about this practice.
