I have been going to Dr. Sherman for decades. He is very committed to his patients and has a pleasant manner. He recommended CRT lenses and I love being able to see all day without contacts or glasses. You wear them while you sleep and you can see all day long. I have been working with Doctor Sherman now for over 20 years. He put me in contacts back around 2004 and we haven't stopped since. I have horrible vision and horrible eyes. That is not a problem for Dr. Sherman. It doesn't matter if we have to go through 10 different contact lenses, Dr. Sherman will do it and get it done if it means you see better. Personally, I have very sensitive eyes when it comes to contacts lenses, Dr. Sherman is patient and understanding with my situation. If the contacts are not comfortable, Dr. Sherman sits me down, and figures out why the problem is happening. Dr. Sherman isn't going to just accept the easy answer either. Dr. Sherman is an caring and compasionate optometrist. I cannot speak highly enough about him. The office manager in contrast has tried my patience. Over the last few years, I've politely tried to give the benefit of the doubt. Trying a few different tactics and behavior tests, and for whatever reason nothing seems to work. It's almost as if she believes she is doing you a favor. Sort of like when you're in the DMV line. At least the DMV staff smiles as they treat you like cattle. Seriously folks... you've been warned. Great, friendly staff and quick visit! I had a bit of a hard time locating the exact spot in the building.

I purchased glasses at this office because they were half the price of my doctors office. A few minutes wait to order the glasses, no problem. They came in on time but to pick them up was a 30 minute wait. The 2 gals behind the desk had one patient each checking out. But I have never seen anyone work so slowly and not give a patient the time of day. I would never be a patient here. They need to cross train the employees to pick up the slack. read more

I got my first pair of glasses here a couple of years ago, and Sandy was Amazing! She is so skilled at finding frames to fit any face. She took her time and picked out a ton frames that she thought would look good on me, and then helped me narrow it down to one. I love that she is honest when she doesn't think frames look good on me rather than just agreeing and telling me what I want to hear. I was in again today for new glasses, and called ahead to make sure that Sandy was still there. She told me that I could come in anytime today. I am so happy that Sandy was there. I ordered new lenses for my glasses, and picked out a new pair of sunglasses. Sandy was really patient in helping me select a pair that is not only comfortable but looks good. Like someone else mentioned in the reviews, the optometrist is very friendly and professional. This would have been my second time visiting the office but I ended up canceling my appointment due to the miserable and unprofessional front desk employee. Not sure what her name was since she didn't give me a chance to even ask before she hung up the phone so quickly. I get it, we all have our bad days but that doesn't make it ok to take it out on others, especially customers who are giving you business. I feel bad for Dr. Sherman who probably has the slightest idea on how this woman talks to the patients. I wouldn't suggest anyone not to come here because like I said, my last experience with Dr. Sherman and the staff was great. But after talking to this lady, it was enough for me to cancel my appointment. I have been going to Dr. Sherman for 10+ years and have been extremely happy. He is very thorough and patient. He truly cares about his patients. He does not finish until he is sure I am all set. Sandy is amazing. She is very detailed, understanding and is exceptional in following up. I was having an issue with my new prescription with a contact lenses. So she ordered a sample of another prescription and called me when in to have me test each and decide the best fit. At first I picked one and called Sandy back. 6/2018: This review is difficult because the optometrist is very nice (so he gets 5 stars). However, the woman working the front desk, I assume it's his office manager, is one of the most unprofessional, rude & uninformed office personnel I've had to deal with in a medical setting in a long time. On both of my visits to this office she did not greet me (I was the ONLY patient in the office), she did not address me in anyway - I had to speak first & she did not smile. She did make me feel like I was an inconvenience to her job. Who pays your salary? Oh, right, my insurance and me. Remember that next time someone walks in the front door. Additionally, after I stated my name on the 2nd visit, she asked me, not 5 seconds later, what my name was for the Rx pick up. Oh come on lady, who are you kidding?? You are either stupid or rude. Which is it? Both? If it's both, you should be replaced immediately. If it's rude, you should be replaced immediately. If it's stupid, you need training. Regardless, she knew nothing about billing....or...she's lying through her teeth and fraudulently charging the insurance companies. Once we get our insurance on the phone we will know the answer. She told me she didn't have an itemized bill to give me. That's odd because under CA State Law ALL services are required to have itemized bills available. Perhaps she doesn't realize that some of her patients are educated in law? This optometrist would do much better to find an office manager who is personable and not hostile, professional and not rude, and educated in her field. I went to Dr. Sherman for the first time because I had new Vision Coverage. Had my exam and their office placed my order for contacts. Great. 2 weeks later hadn't heard from them I called and asked, Ok delayed. 2 weeks later I get a call, go pick up contacts. Home, put them on and can't see a thing. Go back new exam, apologies and new order. Long story short, 4 months later I get new contacts. Prescription is still really wrong. I have worn contacts for 35 years. Never waited longer than 2 weeks and they have always been spot on. Not to mention it took me calling 3 times to get them. Costco here I come. BTW I paid the same at Costco as I did at Dr. Shermans with insurance. read more

I was looking for a new eye doctor for my husband and myself and decided Dr. Sherman's office was a great choice based on the reviews I read, and the fact that they are open some Saturdays of the month. I made the appointment for the upcoming Saturday at 2:30. Come Friday, I get a phone call asking if we were showing up for our 3pm and 330 appointments. So I call because it's a mistake that can be forgiven and fixed (I get it, we're human). Well the same lady I made the appointment with answers and asks if I'm coming. I tell her she made our appointment for Sat at 2:30 and her response is "we aren't even open that late on Saturdays." Why she wanted to argue with me, I'll never know. It was clearly a mistake or miscommunication. If she was friendly, they would have 2 new patients, but when she only offered to take me in on Monday with no apology or care, I told her take my business elsewhere. If you can get past her attitude, I think this place is worth a shot for the doctor, but I'll never find out because I do not want to spend the majority of my time there with this lady handling my appointments, insurance, glasses and contacts order. I've gotten multiple pairs of glasses from here and I've always been happy with them. It's really easy to get an appointment on short notice which is really convenient. The only thing I don't like is that the glasses and contacts are a bit pricey but if you get a copy of your prescription, you can always pick up your contacts through a third party (I got refills of my contact prescription from Costco). read more
