A Chimney Sweep and technician came over and showed us a lot of pictures detailing the damage and explained everything to us. A lot of trust is involved as I am not going on the steep roof to touch this chimney. Once we made the repair appointment, Four Winds took care of everything. The worker and supervisor kept us informed as the work progressed. I've had them back for the first annual inspection and everything is working as it should be. The office staff are easy to work with and scheduled annual check-ups on my new chimney. I feel their pricing is fair and reasonable. Why did I wait 2 years to write a review? I'm used to city contractors letting me down. So I've been waiting for something to go wrong. It hasn't!! This company does what it says it will do and they do it well. A plus? Every time they visit I get to shake hands with a real Chimney Sweep and receive blessings of good luck. How can you go wrong?

We needed an inspection and cleaning which revealed some significant repairs. We booked it and from beginning to end, it was smooth sailing with them. They consistently told me what was going on, where there technicians were and how much longer the work would be, each day. We had several different crews at different stages in the process and each and every one was great! They showed up on time, text to let us know they were coming, set up protective plastic sheets in the house, wore boot covers while in the house and worked hard each day. For all the work that they did, it was well worth every penny! Once complete, the work is fantastic and now we are enjoying our fireplace. Thank you 4 winds chimney!

Came out a few hours after we called and told…read morethem our Air conditioning was not working-given that it was almost i0 degrees outside, we needed a quick fix. After looking at our furnace and A/C, he told us both units were 18 yrs old -we've been in the house for 6 yrs, so fixing it was not cost effective and our unit was 80% efficiency. After we agreed on the appropriate size and high efficiency-we scheduled for next day install. They also said that a technician will be coming by later that day to install a portable A/C , at no cost to cool our bedroom for the evening as well as the next day during the install, which was an 8 hour job. Excellent service, professional from start to finish and followed up with us as promised. What also was a pleasant surprise is that they at no time try to sell us stuff we did not need. When finished, they walked me thru everything that was done, answered any questions I had and included a 1 year free check up/cleaning. Could not be more pleased. Love supporting our local businesses as well.

Then new owner said he must have phone issues. However the answering service said they don't have emergency service. .Used them three years for annual check up. Told new owner under impression up selling. Most owners want feed back. Not this guy Sad to see quality small town company go down hill so quickly What a difference the owner makes!

    It's weird that I felt a sense of relief when I read all those negative, one-star reviews--at least…read morewe're not alone in having been taken advantage of, treated poorly, spoken to rudely and with dismissiveness... Isaac's lack of concern for their customers since they were bought out is, frankly, breathtaking. That's bad enough, but perhaps worse is their practice of upselling vulnerable customers. They quoted us a price for a new tankless water heater that almost knocked us over. We ended up going with someone else for roughly half the price! Then they sold us a replacement air filter for the furnace that turned out to be a hospital-grade system that was way, way beyond our needs--with a price tag to match. Yes, it's on us that we fell for it, but it was during the pandemic and Isaac took advantage of the widespread fears many of us had for our safety. We have been Isaac customers for decades, and we have been GoldCare members for at least half that time. We have paid Isaac tons of money, for new furnaces, a new air conditioner, a tankless water heater, a dehumidifier, and an air filter. We have paid the monthly fee for their service plan. In all those years, there were only two times that we needed anything other than annual routine maintenance. Once was when the tankless water heater stopped working late in the evening. Rather than send someone out, per our contract, they coached us on the phone to fix it ourselves! We were successful, so we chalked it up to a kind-of-funny experience and moved on. The other time was when our fairly new furnace wouldn't come on--on a very cold day. We called, and a rather distant and nonchalant call center rep told us that it would be four days before anyone could come out. We reminded him that we were GoldCare members, and were supposed to get priority service. He didn't care...and let us know that. When we suggested that perhaps we would cancel our premium plan since it didn't seem to get us anywhere, well, that was fine with him, too. He would forward us the cancellation forms. No attempt at customer service, no attempt at customer retention. All this led us to look around for another contractor. We were lucky to have found someone we can trust. But one of the surprises we got was how much the annual maintenance of our air filter would cost. That's when we learned that Isaac had upsold us to a hospital-grade air filtration system that was way beyond what we needed. But the best was yet to come. We called Isaac today to cancel our GoldCare and SilverCare memberships, and our annual maintenance appointment. Once they got through leaving us on hold, hanging up on us, transferring us to another hold, we finally got through. Nick asked us, somewhat perfunctorily, why we were cancelling. We told him what we have related above. He had no reaction whatsoever, expressed no apology, no regret at losing us. But he couldn't wait to tell us that the GoldCare agreement for the very expensive air filter had just started and we were stuck in it for another 23 months. He would not even acknowledge our request for consideration, given all we had been through. Just kept repeating that we were stuck with paying them for another 23 months whether we used them or not. The most he could do was send us a copy of the agreement that we already had in front of us. We originally signed with Isaac when they were locally owned and had a well-deserved reputation for being part of the community and genuinely caring about their customers. Things changed when they were acquired by a private equity firm. They lost their focus on their customers and their community and became ruthless and rapacious. We are glad to bring our business to locally-owned firm from now on.

Called him back to ask him to put it back, and he berated me over the phone saying he would be liable if he put the pipe back and we didn't have a liner installed. Finally got him to say he would come back but he had to check his schedule and call me back. Never called me back, so 2 months later I called a manager. She sent 2 techs out the very next day who ruined the pipe even more (they tried to align it but left a huge gap and taped it back together with tape that is not rated for fireplaces!) and also tracked mud and soot all over my kitchen and carpet. I will never have them in my house again. Working with the BBB to have them pay my bill to get the fireplace fixed and the carpet cleaned.

If you have a warranty be very clear that they service THAT warranty, that the look at the warranty. My furnace wasn't working, I took the morning off to meet them so when they said it wasn't covered under the warranty, I was desperate and trusted them. The next day I found out it was covered, Empire wasn't honest. They weren't a contractor for that warranty company, Goodman/Goodcare/Asure. They charged $485 for the part and only refunded $250 and claimed the rest as labor which the tech said he was being nice and not charged me. But the warranty covers labor, but Empire isn't a service provider for said company. So I am being blamed by the warranty company for trusting Empire, Empire claims the are not liable because they didn't install the furnace. Integrity is not something they have, find another company if you don't have to use them.

When he gave me the quote, it was apparent that the crown and bricks above the roof line had severe cracks and would need to be replaced. He said the job would take two days to complete. After a late start, the job took two and half weeks to complete. During the course of the project, I asked John to please let me know about any additional expenses that would be incurred and the pricing of these. He was very dodgy and wouldn't give me a straight answer. Finally, after the job was complete, he came by and stated that the final price for the work was $7100. He had added line items to his estimate, which we never discussed. Unless you want to be taken advantage of, don't hire this company.
