This dude came to my house for an estimate thinking that I haven't done my homework beforehand. His quote was the highest (with a low end brand) but this wasn't the issue. he said "I would deduct five hundred bucks if you pay me in cash, you know, that way I don't have to pay uncle Sam". Two days later, he called me again to say "Hey, prices have gone up about $450 but I'd still give that discount if you pay my in cash". read more

DON'T have this company service your gas fireplace. A few days after they cleaned ours, the screen and glass panel fell off while it was turned on. We're lucky nothing broke. It was on a Saturday so it would have been an after hours call. However, since it was the company's error we thought they'd come out. They wouldn't. They also didn't advise us to turn off the gas supply to the fireplace. Fortunately, the fireplace business we called did. We'll be using them going forward. read more

Our original appointment had to be rescheduled in that serviceman had personal scheduling conflict & couldn't come at scheduled time. I have a preference for Steve ( serviceman), so we rescheduled about a week later... no problem. Steve called offering to come earlier (he was about 30 minutes ahead of scheduled time. We had a steam release valve fail on a 100+ year old radiator on a weekend. Timely reply and appointment. Feldman's came out, assessed what turned out to be a more complicated problem than met my eye -obtained the parts and replaced the valve. The technician was courteous, kept me informed and his clean up was immaculate. Dave Feldman is a guru of old house boilers and radiators and the technician was in constant contact on the phone and sending pictures. We were very pleased with the results. When our 30+ year old boiler had another problem with it, my husband and I knew it was time to replace that bad boy. We researched online, talked to RG&E, called around and ultimately requested quotes for a replacement boiler from a couple of larger well-known companies (Betlem & Feldman) plus a couple of independent contractors who we trust. Mr. Feldman was able to come over the next day (this was end of October/early November) and evaluated the situation. He gave us a quote and my husband liked & trusted him. Mr. Feldman also offered financing (boilers are super expensive) if we wanted it at 3 months, 6 months or longer. We ultimately got 4 quotes for the boiler: 2 were more expensive than Feldman (including Betlem - which was thousands of dollars more, and an independent contractor who was only $100 more than Feldman) and the last one was $700 cheaper than Feldman (another independent contractor). My husband was tempted to go with the cheapest quote, but we discussed the pros/cons of going with an established local company for a large purchase vs. a contractor who we trusted but who is quite small and might be hard to get for any urgent issues that could arise. My husband called Mr. Feldman and they negotiated something in between the cheapest contractor and the original Feldman quote. I don't think Mr. Feldman was thrilled about our request to negotiate, but he made us a revised offer that we felt was fair and we took it. Mr. Feldman had his guy and an assistant come over and install the boiler before the end of the week. They were very prompt with the appointment and were nice to work with. They took their time and did a good job. We haven't had any issues with it since (it's only been a month or so) and the 6-month financing was helpful so we didn't have to lay out a ton of cash at once, especially right before the holidays. Mr. Feldman and his office staff were also quite nice and very prompt with all the necessary paperwork. Overall we felt good about the transaction. We have 2 other boilers that are also quite old in our rental units and we expect we will use Feldman again for them when the time comes. read more

They did a nice job of installing my AC and Furnace. There was some minor miscommunication regarding a gas pipe installation, but they made everything work out for the best. Overall, I would recommend them as a small business. Not happy with Feldman today I call to get a flue cap put on and when the tech got here he told it would be $87 dynastic charge and another $163 for the part and to install, that $250 before tax. What are you dynast icing. After calling and complaining they came down to $138 plus tax, to which I find still too high for a $30 part A fair price to me would be $50 for the part and $50 for labor. I think that would have been more than fair for what I asked for. Been a Feldman customer for a 8,9 years now and this will be the 1st and last time that you will try to screw me over. read more

We have just had Feldman Heating ​and Cooling ​install a top-of-line Amana central heating and air conditioning ​ system.​ I am prone to worry about how things might go after the sales pitch. In this case, I think the whole experience couldn't have been better. The salesman, Dan Hare, had his own company for years and was very knowledgeable--some we talk ​ed​ with were only salesmen, too intent upon closing the deal​ and not so focused, as I would have prefered, on providing the best system for my needs. With Feldman​ Heating​ and Cooling , we arrived at a good system and a good price, $1-2K less than some of the others. The installation crew was great: they were, to a man, polite, friendly, and knew their jobs. Rus, the team leader, and Mike, his number 1, were focused and intent upon assembling the complicated system. ​In addition, they were genuinely ​responsive to my questions and ​ to​ installing the system according to my preferences. Absolutely no brush-offs. ​I am grateful that ​I ​ delt with​ ​Feldman Heating and Cooling and ​cannot recommend the company and its people more highly. read more

While they are technically competent I have encoutered a couple of times where they attempt to manipulate the customer. Like claiming that the furnace is on its last legs (it was still going 4 years later when I decided to replace it) and a classic bait and swtich where a verbal quote is 20% lower than the final bill. read more

We were, until recently, long term customers of Feldman Heating. They sold and installed a new furnace and A/C in our condo and we have been pleased with them until our recent annual cleaning and check-up. We were having other work done on the day scheduled so we asked the technician to call us when he arrived so we could let him in the building and introduce ourselves. He was late (left his tools at a prior site) and when he arrived he walked in to our condo (since the flooring installers had propped the door open) rather than calling as we asked. The work went smoothly, but when he came back with the invoice things went very wrong. The technician asked if we were practicing Buddhists (we have a Buddha outside our door). We said we were. He then launched into what I can only call an evangelical lecture regarding Jesus and how we needed to be saved. He peppered it with "I don't care what others believe" and "people are free to believe what they choose," but he kept returning to his view that we had to accept Jesus as our personal savior, and the literal truth of the Bible accepted no other faith or belief as true. My wife grew up Catholic, I grew up Jewish, and Buddhism is our practice. We don't appreciate being lectured on religion, no matter how heartfelt Dave may think he was being. It was obnoxious, it was oppressive, and it was wholly out of place. We reported this to Feldman Heating and received what we felt to be a weak, near apology.
