I keep coming back because the bagels are good, but the service is honestly frustrating. The place looks outdated and not very clean. Today I waited about 10 minutes while other people were helped before me and phone orders were taken ahead of me. The store wasn't even busy, it was basically empty. It just feels like they have their "favorite" customers and drop everything as soon as certain people walk in. Management really needs a better system. Every time I give o to Davids bagels in pomona they are out of something. Usually its everything bagels. Today it was everything, plain & rolls. I k ow its Sunday and they close at 3 but I'm here at 12:15. How can a bagels shop run out of bagels 3 hours before close? The bagels are good, but the service is slow and inconsistent. One person will make a perfect bagel; the next one will either overtoast it or add a light smear of cream cheese. Check your food before you leave, and don't come here if you are in a rush. read more

Have been coming for many years. The bagels are great. The service has become so slow, to the point where I often debate on coming because I don't want to be late for work. Anytime we are in the area we stop at David's to grab a bagel. It's quick and located conveniently right off the Palisades Parkway. The place is a little outdated but seems to be clean. One of the main reasons for stopping at David's is that they offer Tofutti Vegan Cream Cheese! read more

This place is meh. The morning crowd isn't because these bagels are show stopping, its because there aren't many bagel choices in the area and you have no choice but to wait. The service is a 3 of 5. Not horrible, but certainly has from for improvement. The staff is friendly- but they're busy chatting, taking phone orders, and don't move in a way to get customers in and out. I've been here a few times and held of on a review to really get a feel for my thoughts on this place. I have only gone here for the BEC. I refuse to get a spread- they look old, dried out and unappetizing. Bacon egg and cheese is hard to ruin. I like bacon well done - it comes out burnt (just a heads up). Service is annoyingly long. Coffee is average. Nothing crazy- standard bulk brew coffee. Ambiance is old and dated and gives off dirty vibes. This place has room for you to sit and enjoy your meal, but its rare you see anyone there. Overall this place is meh .. okay. Working in the city, my benchmark for bagels is a NYC bagel. Sadly this place has turned for the worst. Second time to have few bagels. Wanted a sesame bagel with Muenster cheese. No sesame. Okay I'll take a plain, No plain. Meh. Not a huge fan. Stopped in with a friend today to grab bagels and coffee. She got an everything bagel with cream cheese, I got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel. We both got iced coffee to go with. Since it was a Saturday morning, the bagels were nice and fresh but I was pretty disappointed with my BEC. There was practically no egg on there and the bacon was way overdone. It's pretty common around here to use two eggs on a BEC so I was surprised that they didn't. My friend liked her bagel but there was a whole lot of cream cheese. Just seems like this place skimps out where they can. The coffee was good but much too light for my preference. I like more of a medium roast and this was super light. Also they had so syrup so the iced coffee was like a snow globe. $6 for a BEC and small iced coffee. Not bad but not great considering what I got. Note that there are a crap-ton of bike riders who apparently stop here on a Saturday morning. All prancing around in their bike shorts talking about whether or not to wax their chain. Odd. read more

This place is bad , other then just looking dirty I went there for a breakfast sandwhich and was told they were out of eggs, minutes later while i wait for a bagel with cream cheese. a costumer walks in and asks for egg sandwhiches. They told her they werent doing breakfast anymore for the day , as she thought of what else to order , an employees who i asume is the manager after denying me an egg sandwhich by saying they have no more eggs, he gives the ok to the ladies to give the costumer after me the egg sandwhiches she ordered. I come here several times a year in the summer when on long-ish bike rides from the city. David's has a wide selection of excellent bagels and an even wider selection of cream cheeses such as, walnut raisin and apple cinnamon. The shop is well staffed by cheerful locals and I have never waited more than a few minutes before being served. The prices are reasonable as well. This place seems to be a hit with the locals as each time I have been there, hanging out for about an hour, there was a constant stream of people coming and going, loading up on bagels and sandwiches. read more

Usually, as soon as you approach the counter, someone asks "may I help you?". Today, 3 employees (doing NOTHING) just stared at me. These are quite simply the best bagels period. Yes, I grew up eating them. Yes, I dream about them often. Yes, they would be my last meal on earth. And yes, every time I have another bagel a part of me weeps inside because they just aren't as good. They personify what a bagel should be. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside. When they are toasted they are so amazing and the way that they get the heat from the toasting to melt the cream cheese is an art form. They have a ton of different schmears, many bagel choices and a full selection of salads. They also have some damn good cakes. There is always a line but it moves quickly because they are efficient at their craft. The Pomona location is better than the New City location, IMO. This past Monday morning, to start my day I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and grabbed a Starbucks pre made frap from the fridge. As I was waiting (which seemed like forever) to get my bagel to be rung up, the guy said the total would be $5.13. So I gave him my card, however they do have this $5 minimum if you want to use it (which is illegal). But then after he swiped my card, I checked my account (because you never can be so sure) and low and behold I was actually charged $5.35. So then I was trying to ask the guy who prepared my order why this is so. He literally started yelling at me "don't you see that sign? This sign? That sign?" And I'm like "sir, I didnt even know there was signs in the first place?" He says "there they are" and mind you his accent was very thick asian one. He keeps yelling at me as I was trying to get the words to say " but I thought I was only suppossed to reach the five dollar minimum if I wanted to use my card?why am I getting charged an extra $0.21? May I please speak with someone else I can't understand you with you yelling at me. No one would help me I had to ask the other employee to explain, her explanation was mediocre. The response he gave me was absolutely grotesque, and I don't know about "proper" customer service etiquette but that was really low on the scale of good customer service. Also, I have been coming here for years since I was a teenager, but know that I will never waste another dime on this place again. I could tell my order was going to be wrong over the phone, because the lady had trouble communicating. I made sure they repeated the order back correctly to me which they got wrong three times. I should've took the hint then. When I came to pick it up, they put cheese on it which is not what I ordered. I told them and they took it back, and all they did was take the cheese "off" of it. I put that in quotations, because there was still chunks of cheese on my bagel which I had to manually take off myself. Not the best cross contamination practice if I had food allergies. On top of that, they didn't even label my bagels when I ordered a few, so I had to open up other people's food I ordered and sort that for myself. The bagels are ok. Not great, but better than what you'd find at an average deli. So if you're picking up bagels to bring home to make sandwiches yourselves, it's alright. Order a bagel with anything on it, and expect to find the thinnest layer of cream cheese. Sometimes not even edge to edge. If there was any other option, they'd be getting my business. I have yet to find an everything bagel that actually puts everything on it that can even compare to the bagels that pop out of here. The bagels are decent but that's about all. They're super stingy with their breakfast sandwiches and cream cheese. I asked one day for a grilled cheese and they put one slice of cheese on 2 slices of bread. Also another time I asked for cream cheese on a toasted bagel. The bagel was not toasted and I noticed this as soon as I was given the bagel. I told them I wanted it toasted so the cream cheese was scraped off and the bagel was toasted then they spread the same cream cheese back on. If you want a good breakfast or lunch I recommend going to Mt. View Deli right around the corner on thiells mt ivy road. They are a trillion times better in terms of food and coffee. This location is the most INEFFICIENT operation I have ever been in. The line usually is 5-9 deep in the morning and its only because of the way the counter staff handle their work load. The person who smears your bagel, also makes your hot sandwich, fills your coffee and takes your money. NO DIVISION OF LABOR!!! There are so many people behind the counter that are running in many different directions its probably costing them a huge amount of money in labor cost. I don't know about other locations but I have stopped here from time to time and have sometimes gone to the Stop and Shop in the shopping center 200 yds away to get my bagel because I didn't want to wait in a long line. The owners should take a good hard look at how they run their operation as the faces of the people who stand there patiently for their bagel in the morning might get mad enough to say something like I am right now. read more

Bagels are warm and delicious. The bagels here taste so fresh and yummy. The chocolate banana muffin is also good. The staff is nice and takes your order quick. I had to register to this website just so I can write review. I ordered a Tuna Wrap today from this location because I can't eat meat on Fridays. I should've saved myself the EXTRA $1 and change and just went to Subways. The tuna was disgusting!! The whole sandwich was disgusting. The wheat wrap was hard, could've been stale, idk. The tuna was sweet and they put entirely too much mayo. So the tuna was literally dripping out of my wrap. I wish I took my tuna back and requested a refund. The bagels are like rolls. They are not boiled, they are baked. They have their extras such as poppy seeds, sesame seeds etc. on only the top. Just like a roll! These are not bagels.
