I've stopped here a few times and found it delicious. Service was friendly enough and efficient enough, food was good, you don't go to a place like this for the ambiance, and the pricing could have been better but really wasn't bad. That's kind of everywhere these days, can't really be helped because for example since 1978 general worker wages have gone up in a range between 16% and 24% while cost of living has gone up between 200% and 300%, and it's getting worse while corporate CEO positions have gone up over a thousand percent, so the modern day American dream is just a lot less affordable. I think it's worth taking that into account when you look at prices these days, so given that, this really all around is not a bad spot, recommended. read more

Randomly was in the neighborhood and stopped in at this mom and pop spot. I can see regulars stopping in here for sandwiches and salads. I ordered a hefty plain bagel sandwich that was colorful with bacon, egg and cheese. It tasted decent. The staff seemed fast and pleasant. read more

Pretty good spot. Especially if you want an basic bagel and coffee. Conveniently located near a Starbucks so if you don't want regular coffee & something special you can get a coffee from Starbucks and then a bagel from John's famous bagels. It's probably not much different than the umpteen other bagel places in the area that also do the usual wraps, coffee, and so on. So I go by the little differences that make a bigger difference: quality of the food, overall vibe, and the service. All three are pretty damn good here. I gotta hang back on my love for bagels, unfortunately, but I've snagged a bite from my kids' when they're not looking. And... yeah, tasty. I usually order egg sandwiches, and they have all been consistently good. So John's gets one star here. 2nd star: overall vibe. You'd think it wouldn't be a big deal, but it is. The place is very small, but it's not a shit show when I go to order. Not a long wait, and the place is very clean. I like popping in here. Now star three: the people behind the counter are sympatico. Truly. Just a little hop over that lingo barrier and yeah, it's all good. read more

The food tastes good but the refrigerated display cases are rusted and sections are covered in mold! I never order from those cases and probably shouldn't go there at all but it is convenient. They tried to cover the rusted supports with tin foil but it is still visible. read more

I have only had the BLT (a bit fatty at times so make sure to ask for it well done) and Roast Beef hero with mozzarella and tomato with Mayo which was not bad. The workers although polite half of them never seem to smile. I don't know about any of you but a grin/smile goes along way with me. Makes me feel like I am welcomed and not intruding. read more

I called John's to cater a breakfast for 50 people at my company. I didn't give them much time and asked for a lot. Several dozen bagels all arrived slides on platters. There was a wide variety of cream cheese flavors arranged beautifully on a platter. The fruit bowl was more than I expected etc etc. I forgot to ask for plates and napkins and he ran right back to the store to bring them for me - even though I was the one who forgot to ask ahead of time. Not bad food but literally three visits in a row I specified that I don't want ketchup on my breakfast sandwich and third day in a row, here I am dropping another $5 for a bagel smothered in ketchup. Forreal? Third times the charm and here I am! Well, that was a wasted trip. Imma have to drop an insane $10 for my breakfast at steins I guess just so I can get spare myself a breakfast sandwich covered in such a preservative-packed lunch/dinner condiment. I've been going for plain bagels/sandwiches for many years. Last month I decided to try the John's Famous Nova Sandwich: "Bagel with Thinly Sliced Nova, Plain Cream Cheese, Onions, Tomatoes and Cucumbers". Was SO good! I went back again but no cucumbers. I was really disappointed because it really added something but was already at my destination. Definitely missed them but was still a good sandwich! The Salmon tasted like they just caught it and not store bought. It's expensive but Can't wait to go back! read more

Pretty solid bagel store with great coffee and deli meats. The coffee is a create your own, "which I love," and the people who work here keep it neat. If you live in the area I'm sure you know Johns Bagels, and have ordered a few dozen from time to time. I heard the spreads here are phenomenal but I stick to taylor ham egg and cheese usually. I had the chicken cheese-steak at lunch and not only was it overcooked, I found a bone in it! Yes, a ling thin bone. They obviously buy the cheapest ingredients. There is a dried out fish in the cooler that has been there for months now. Their salmon is dried out and curling at the ends. No inventory turnover. 2 stars because roll that chicken steak was on was soft and fresh. read more

Their Taylor ham is fake and disgusting. It's tastes like smoked gooey pepperoni. The owner John is a real jerk too. There's a long story here but I will save your time. There coffee is watered down too. He's lucky he has the only 3 bagel stores within 1 square mile or he would be out of business. Go to pearl River and go to zimis bagels instead. I went to John's Famous Bagels this morning and ordered 2 and 1/2 dozen bagels. When I got to work I realized I only had 13 bagels. I called the store to and told them I was missing bagels. I was transferred to the store manager. I explained the situation and also mentioned that I could not leave to go and get the bagels. I asked if he could have them delivered. As rudely as possible he said they don't have time and I was going to have to go back to the store to get the rest of the bagels. I explained again that I was unable to leave work and because the error was theirs they should try and have them delivered. He began to yell at me and say that I can't tell him what to do and that he could not leave the store for another 45 minutes and hung up on me. I called back to make arrangements to have someone from my office go back to the store to get the remaining bagels and I was told the man I was speaking to left the store to make someone else's delivery (after he already said he couldn't leave the store). The lady I spoke with, Michaela, was trying to help when the manager walked back in and yelled at her for speaking with me. He got back on the phone and told me to stop disturbing his employee and that I could not speak with her. He said he will deliver the bagels but someone had to go outside to get them. I explained again that this is an office building where we can't just leave at any time. I asked that he come upstairs to drop off the delivery. He started yelling about that again telling me he has no time because he has to make other deliveries and that this was my problem. At that point I hung up and asked someone from my office to wait downstairs for the bagels. Michaela called me back to discuss again and I told her I was done at this point but wanted the manager's name and the name of his superior. She was hesitant to give it to me and said she might get in trouble if she did. She whispered that the manager's name was Adam and she couldn't give me any more information. I urge anyone who goes there to beware of what you're purchasing and be sure that you get all the items you asked for because this place is NOT in the habit of correcting their mistakes. I for sure will never go there again. read more
