I am originally from Sioux Falls, but live in Texas so when I had to have my wedding in Sioux Falls, I figured I could have my alteration at their David's Bridal. To my surprise (I had my husband with me because I didn't believe the superstition) I had lost too much weight for my dress to be altered or fit me period. This being said, we had to pick out a new wedding dress and I had to watch my calories for the next 6 months until the wedding date. The ladies were incredibly upbeat about me having to pick out a new dress and made sure I was happy that I lost weight for my wedding day. Which was kind of hard considering I had to pay for a whole new dress, but hey, that's a good problem I guess? Anyways, they helped me pick out new accessories and though the dress that I really loved (much more than the previous one I bought) wasn't available in the size in store, they were able to order it and send it to another David's Bridal in Texas for safe keeping until I needed my next alteration. Great employees regardless of my kind of sour attitude! read more

I was newly engaged and visiting family in Sioux Falls when we decided to go dress shopping. I was able to make an appointment online for the next day. We arrived and I was checked in immediately with a questionnaire about dates, bridal party members, etc. I'd gone online to mark favorite dresses and they had my list printed out so I could mark first, second, 3rd etc. I was introduced promptly to my attendant and she started pulling the dresses I liked while my family went browsing. The it dress was the 3rd I tried on. Lindsay, my helper, wasn't bothered when we decided to try on everything that we pulled. She asked about a veil and brought some hair ornaments for me try on. I like that they didn't try to pressure me into more purchases. The ringing the bell and "say yes to the dress" were a little silly for me, but it seems like others enjoy it. read more

Had a fabulous experience at David's! My sister is getting married in exactly one year from now. When we got in a sales woman sat her down and talked with her about the wedding date, pulled out a year calendar (that my sister got to keep) and went over an entire timeline of when she should have her dress picked out by, when she should have alterations done by etc. They asked if she would need bridesmaid dresses, MOB dress etc. after we got done talking with the woman she introduced us to Maryn, who was going to help us the rest of the time. She gave us a your of the entire store pointing out were different dress styles were and asked my sister why style she was most interested in. She then told us we could look around and pick some items we liked and she did the same. She was extremely helpful and even the dresses my sister said "yea that's cute" she pulled for my sister to try on. By the time we were done we had like 15 dresses for her to try. She then lead us over to a seated area next to the dressing room and brought over a couple dresses for my sis to try on. After my sister had a dress on she had her rate it to get an idea of where she was it with that style. She always waiting until my sister said she didn't like a dress or wanted to try on a new one (even when we said we didn't like it - which I found very respectful to my sister) before she offered her another one to try on. Even when my sister got lightheaded and need water which my mom then spilt all over, Maryn was very polite and helpful the entire time. She offered sashes, hair pieces and necklaces to show how each dress can change with just a few small adjustments. In the end my sister found a dress she absolutely loves. If you do make an appointment with David's (which I highly recommend) ask for Maryn!! I have recommended this place to all my friends asking where to buy a prom dress! they have a huge selection and very affordable! The crew/staff is so friendly and helpful! They truly want to make your special occasion perfect! The only thing to make this store better would be to keep track of the town that people bought a dress so you know if someone attending your prom already has that dress. overall it's a great place to shop! read more

I made an appointment for first thing on a weekday morning for my mom and I to go look for MOB dresses. I had let them know in the phone conversation the style number she was most interested in & asked twice that they note it. We came in the day of our appointment to 3 sales associates. The person we were assigned to never welcomed us, introduced herself, asked my mom's name, her budget, her dress preference, etc. I mentioned that I'd asked to have her potental dress noted. She looked and there were no notes. We wandered through the racks looking for appealing dresses after having been waved in a general direction. Mom found a few dresses to try. The sales person never offered any guidance, never asked any questions or offered up different styles. Also seemed indifferent to us leaving empty-handed. Will NEVER go here again. They are not less expensive, but offer big box store type customer service. read more

Unless they're making the commission off your dress sale, don't expect much from David's. They knew we were there for a mother-of-the-Groom dress, and other than showing us to our dressing room, our associate provided no help, except to steer us towards more expensive dresses. My Mother in Law to be is in her 70s, and the associate did not even ask if she needed help dressing. You can tell they're all about the commissions at David's Bridal. We crossed the street to Yonkers and found a much nicer, higher quality dress for half the price. read more

Recently my mother went into this store after a long, discouraging day of shopping for a dress for my wedding. The staff at this store treated her very poorly. She told me that it almost felt like the scene from pretty woman. I'm so disappointed. I hope no one else has this experience. read more

I received the worst treatment any bride could have. On my first appointment I was rushed because they were going to close; even though I was told to be there at 6pm, which I was. They advised me to show up another day without an appointment to finish finding my dress. When I get there I had to look for my dress by my self and the help of two of my brides maids. The whole time I was there the bride right next to me was getting all the attention. Finally I decided to pick a dress (not because I liked the dress but because I felt so awkward and wanted to just be done with the whole experience) I did get some attention in the end, and the only reason was because they wanted to be paid. After that horrible experience I ended up buying my dress. I decided not to get alterations from them ($200!) and took my dress to someone else ($40!). My wedding is on June/15 and I still needed shoes so I went with my mother to look for some at David's Bridal. I chose a pair of shoes that I liked but they only had the ones that are on display for customers to try on. These shoes were quite obviously dirty and scuffed from the DOZENS of brides that had tried them on before me so I politely asked if there was a discount on floor models. The employee said she was going to check with her manager, she never came back. After 20 minutes;my mother and I decided to go and pay for the shoes. When we were waiting in line a lady came out with the most ugly attitude and said she was the manager. Right away she maid me feel like I was nothing. I went on and explained the situation and explained to her that I had bought my dress from them ($900). She right away without thinking about it said she could not give me a discount. She also said that the shoes were not dirty and was the fabric that made them look like that???.. It took me a little bit to understand what was going on. Then I remembered how awful I had been treated in the months prior and told her how horrible I was treated and I really did think I deserved a discount or an apology.. I advised how they had ruined my whole wedding dress experience. The whole time I was telling her this she was pretending to be arranging dresses on the rack. She then tried to excuse everything by telling me that on the second time I showed up I did not have an appointment. I advised her that they had told me to show up without an appointment and even when I did have an appointment I was treated that way. I then told her that I knew I was treated that way due to my race. She gave me some degrading response of mumbling some nondescript noise. I then said "excuse me?" she said she didn't mean it that way. I then advised her that we had the money to pay for the shoes that cost $69.99 (USED) and I also had a pair of earrings and something for my shoes. I gave her the shoe box and the other two items and told her that I could get my shoes elsewhere and started to walk away.. Not once!!! Did she try to apologize or even try to fix the issue in any way, shape, or form. I am a customer service representative at a company that actually values it's customers and I would !NEVER! treat anyone the way I was treated. It was a humiliating and very degrading experience. I had never experienced racism in person. Now I know that it is the worst feeling ever. My son was there when all this happened, and he is the reason why I decided to say something. I do not want my kids to ever let anyone treat them that way and not defend themselves. PLEASE CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS BEFORE GOING TO DAVID'S BRIDAL!!! BEWARE!!! UPDATE I have received communication from the corporate office. The response to my posting was extremely quick. And the representative that I spoke to over the phone was very understanding and very professional. She offered compensation for my horrible experience. She also advised me that she would be following up with this particular location directly. This by no means erases the horrific experience that I had to endure, but it does re-establish my faith for David's bridals (as a whole) value in their customers. read more

So disappointed. My sister (the bride) was told to come in on the 30th of June for her last dress fitting. She was emailed reminders and received conformation phone calls. She drove 5+ hours to go to her final fitting and pick it up, only to be told the dress wasn't in. After asking for a manager, she was told there was only a temporary manager there and that the temporary manager doesn't have authority to do much for her. She is now driving 5+ hours back home on the same day with no dress. Words can't express enough how frustrated we are. read more

I had picked Davids Bridal in Sioux Falls, SD to be the f. first place I had ever tried on a wedding dress because they are widely known. However, I had the worst experience ever. I walked in and registered then the front desk assistant called for the associate that was going to be helping with my appointment. She walked up slouching and she had asked her if she was ready and she gave a big sigh and said in a few minutes then walked away. It so so incredibly rude. My wedding party searched for dresses and we found a bunch of different styles and when the associate came up too me she said "we usually only start with two". I apologized. I didn't know, I had never been shopping and got extremely excited too find my type of dress. I got to the room and she hung two dresses up and walked out to help another lady not saying a word. I had to stand by my door for a few minutes every time I needed to be zipped up. She was not interested in my appointment at all and seemed like she did not like her job. In my opinion, if you work at a bridal shop you need to be excited about it and make a brides wedding shopping day special. She made my first dress shopping experience absolutely awful when it was supposed to be a great time. Needless to say I went to Alan Evans Bridal and they were amazing and cared about me and my appointment. Definitly will NEVER go to davids bridal again. My mother and I stopped in to find a torsolette for my custom dress. The lady was very helpful t first. she brought the sizes I asked for but I needed a smaller waist size which only came a cup size smaller. The fit in the waist was perfect but not the bust. This is when the lady became quite pushy saying that this new size was perfect although there was a lot of spillage. She left my mother and I to decide and when we brought it up to the counter and explained our worries, the lady and another lady who hadn't even seen it on me, both agreed that it was a good fit. I ordered the other size online with the correct cup size and it fits perfect. I will not be stopping in to Davids Bridal again. Horrible experience! I paid $800 for a wedding dress. When I took it in to be altered they gave me the wrong slip and thus altered it to the wrong slip!! When questioning them about it they tried to say it was the seamstress preference, and either slip would work. I had a fit and flare dress, it was altered to an A-line slip. I found out it was wrong by calling Davids Bridal in Bismarck, ND whom told me they were unsure what Sioux Falls, SD was talking about since the dress came with a recommendation and the A-Line slip was not recommended. When exchanging the slip, my dress ended up being to long for my wedding and dance and guest were constantly stepping on it. The seamstress told me that the slip would not change the length of the dress!! The bustling was obvious done quickly and poorly and it didn't even bring the back of the dress up high enough to get it off the floor and thus the train was constantly dragging. I would not recommend this store! read more

I made an appointment about two weeks in advance in order to shop (and purchase) bridesmaid dresses, a MOB dress, and to accessorize my wedding dress I had purchased at another store in the Twin Cities. I brought my mother, aunt and grandmother (who has Alzheimer's). Within 10 minutes of me putting my dress on, I was told that my party was going to have to move away from the staging/mirrored area because "A bride was coming." ((as I stood there in my wedding dress....)) They proceeded to make me move my grandmother to this awkward place where we had no real area to try things on. We ended up trying on all of our dresses in the dressing room and standing outside it helping ourselves. Several times I asked for help with accessorizing and two times I was told they would do more except I didn't buy my dress there so they didn't want to ruin anything or be liable for anything (even when it didn't have anything to do with my dress directly). Extremely frustrating situation. I would have walked out within the first 20 minutes if we hadn't driven 2 hours to get there and needed to buy dresses ASAP because our wedding is coming up so quickly. read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLENESS. After the experience I had today, I would never suggest this store. It was so crazy and busy and WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT. This website makes you give at least a star but I would of given zero stars if I could of. We arrive and no one greets us. Finally when a girl comes around, she doesn't ask us budget or style for the bridesmaid dresses we were looking for. Once myself and bridesmaid grabbed the few dresses that we thought we liked we found our girl helping two different parties and she gave us one dressing room in an area that 2 different parties were already trying dresses on. I felt just as bad for those girls and my bridesmaid for having to put three people into a room. We left after 15 minutes because no one was help us and it was so crazy and disorganized and their dresses were very average. I should of known by all the terrible things I had heard about this store. I felt even worse for the group of people I overheard talking to the lady just coming in. The group at made an appointment and the lady told her that they were going to be able to help them because they didn't have enough staff and were already to busy with walk-ins. HELLO, I'm not even in that industry and I know that you can't allow walk ins when you are already fully booked with appointments. I knew my experience was bad but I only drove 45 minutes and those people drove two hours so only have their time wasted without even a phone call. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT I NEVER STEPPED FOOT IN THERE WHILE LOOKING FOR MY WEDDING DRESS AND I WONT EVER AGAIN. I would like to suggest any bride in Sioux Falls to go to the BRIDAL GALLERY because they were absolutely fabulous when looking for bridesmaid dresses. They helped with everything we needed and we didn't have people climbing on top of each other either. read more

Made and appointment and the doors were locked to the store until the absolute last moment before 11am. We had to stand in the doorway in the cold with about 20 other people. I had to share my associate with another group, so my future sister in law did everything that the associate I made my appointment with was supposed to do. I did my get dress within a month...pleasantly surprised. But, when I received my dress, the stitching on my dress was undone and my dress had to be returned. When I got my dress a second time, there was a second problem...a bright orange spot on the bust of my dress. SERIOUSLY! Luckily the seamstress was able to get the spot out of my dress, but I nearly had a bridezilla moment in the process :). Not to mention, both times I went to try on my dress, I had to wander around the store till I could find someone to help me get zipped into my dress even though there were multiple women standing around at the front desk. Believe it or not this location was actually better than my experience at the Grand Rapids, MI store. Do yourself a favor and go to a smaller store where they give you attention you deserve during your appointment and get a dress that is actually in NEW condition. read more

I was very disappointed in my experience at the Sioux Falls David's Bridal. I am having a short engagement and knew that I would only be able to purchase something "off the rack" that was in store. When I first came in, the consultant asked me if I came alone and "why would you look at wedding gowns by yourself?" When the consultant asked when our wedding was, her response was "You know that is only a month away, right? Why would you do that!?" She proceeded to ask how many bridesmaids we were having and when I said that we were not having any attendants she stated again, "Why would you do that??" While trying on gowns, the consultant brought me other gowns to try on {which was nice} but when I told her I liked them, her response was "Well, we can't order this for you and you can't buy it off the rack, so you'll have to find something else. This is what happens when you have such a short engagement." I couldn't get out of the store fast enough and I felt so I unwelcomed. I went to another local store and they were so helpful and hands on, despite my short engagement! I would never do business with David's Bridal or recommended them based on my experience. read more
