I had the goulash soup, fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Hubby had their Bavarian pork roast dinner, with sauerkraut and even Bavarian pretzel bites. The food was delicious, real home cooking. The service was astounding. Our server was attentive , knowledgeable and friendly. There was a coterie of teenage staff who were always checking on us to see if we needed anything. First time to David's Food and Spirits and had a delightful dinner. I had the blackened salmon along with a double baked potato which was very good, and my wife had the pork chops a generous helping. Our waitress was helpful and attentive to filling our glasses and removing dirty dishes. Inside is quaint and tidy, enough room but not a huge dining area. I do recommend calling to see if reservations are needed as they get very busy at dinner time. We thought it very well worth the visit and will return for another dinner. read more

Our favorite restaurant in Pontiac! Great atmosphere, friendly & very attentive staff including the owner himself. We love the mix of everything they have to offer on their menu. The grill they offer outside in the summer is a fun quirky lunch idea that we often look forward too! We were on our way through Pontiac looking for a place for dinner. We found David's on Yelp. When we arrived we were a little put off by the outside because it's not much to look at. But the parking lot was full and so we gave it a shot. We were not at all disappointed - in fact, we were quite impressed. The food was fantastic, the staff was welcoming, helpful, and very friendly. We live locally and had not been to David's in a LONG time, so we decided to give it a try for a Friday night out. We were seated promptly, service was very good and timely, wait time was reasonable, and prices were average, but the food was mediocre. I had the fish meal and the fried fish was more of a rectangular patty/loaf vs a filet and the taste was fair (at best). Again, nothing outstanding, just ok. David's has the best service in town. The staff is great. Great place to have an enjoyable meal. I want to give it 4 stars, but I can't. The reason is the flavor of the food. The food is cooked wonderfully except almost all dishes appear to be lacking spices. I think a little salt would easily make David's the only 4 star restaurant in town. They also do not carry dessert. I would recommend ordering something that comes with bbq sauce, as the bbq sauce will add flavor. For a Wednesday this place was busy. The special was smothered chicken but i decided to try the 1/2 fried chicken and a side of spaghetti instead of the normal potato. The salad and bread was great because when its hot out a cold crisp salad is always good. The blue cheese dressing was very good but would be better if it was colder. My fried chicken had a wonderful crust that wasnt too crusty and not too greasy but wish it would have been left in a little longer to get crunchier. My spaghetti and chicken both could have been hotter. My noodles weren't quite done and the sauce too sweet for me. I will not be getting pasta there again. My Dads ribeye was grilled to the perfect medium he requested and he said it had a nice flavor. The steak was thick and had nice marbling but not too much fat. It looked like his fettuccine alfredo could have been warmer also. He didnt say if he did or didn't like it so it must have been just average. The owner David was the bartender and he cleared the dishes for us throughout the meal and refilled our drinks. There was only one waitress in the place so she will be earning her tips this evening. The steaks are great, stir fry better, but you haven't lived until you try the hog wings! Wing special one night - hog and LARGE chicken wings are really good. Nice selection of beer. LOVE David's! Their food is consistently great, good atmosphere, friendly staff and bartenders, quiet and relaxed and just generally a pleasant night out. We love visiting with David and the staff are all first rate! It is always decorated so cute for every season. We usually go on Thursday for the ribs and chicken but they have great specials almost every night. Ask for the house dressing and twice baked potatoes. Lots of people love the Mombo Combo which is HUGE! The potato crusted cod was also excellent! The portions are all huge so plan on taking some home for the next day. read more
